This hotel has one of the best locations in Rome. Very close to Pantheon & Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona. Walking distance to Spanish steps. You can also walk to Vatican & Coliseum, but we took a taxi - only around 15 Euro to Vatican and 13 Euro to Coliseum. For the convenience, comfort ( we were there in early Aug, it's very hot) and save of time, it's money well spent. Taxi to train station only cost 11 Euro.

The hotel is in a great location in old Rome; we walked to many of the must-see stops from the hotel, including the Trevi fountain and Spainish Steps.
The hotel staff were excellent and very helpful in booking taxis, giving directions etc...

The hotel itself quiet, as are the surrround streets. The rooms are a good size and very clean.

The hotel is good value ofor money and we intend staying there again next .

Very nice hotel, great location, near all the Roma's must see points. It is my first time in Rome and I visited all the history places by walking due the hotel's great location. Nice room, very clean, great breakfast. We arrived before the check-in time from a long trip, in 40 minutes our room was ready and we've got a great room. We arrived by taxi at the hotel, it just drop us at the hotel's front door. The hotel's best thing is the location, no traffic noise, something that I really love, for my next time in Rome I will stay here again for sure.

As others have written, Hotel Nazionale has one of the best locations in Rome.
My wife and I are in our 70's but managed to walk to all the popular sites, including the Vatican, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Colliseum during our 3 day stay. Take a back pack and water bottle except to The Vatican where you will have to leave it at security which means a half hour walk to collect it!
We were tired after an overnight flight from Toronto so took the easy and quick route of a cab from the airport, currently 48 Euro's but to us it was well worth it. The cab dropped us right at the front door.
Reception was quick and very helpful on all things.
The room was larger than we had anticipated with a good sized bathroom.
The beds and pillows are hard compared to North America but after a days walking it didn't seem to matter.
The mainly cold breakfast was extensive.
NOTE: The shaver socket in the bathroom will not accept North American 2 pin so buy a 3 pin adaptor before you leave home. The hotel has a few but you will need it everwhere in Italy.
The hotel is right next to the parliament building so there was strict 24/7 police security in the whole area.
Don't miss the Gelato shop around the corner and there are several decent pizzeria's close by.
Rome is for walking but we wish that they had a few more benches to sit on.
See also reviews for Presto Tours for the Vatican and the Pummarola Pizzeria.
There is limited free internet access.
We would stay there again.

Hotel Nazionale is located in the heart of the city and very easy to get around Rome. The rooms were bigger than we expected. The service and staff courteous and helpful. Quiet and away from the noise of the city. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Rome!

You can't fault the location; right in the heart of the city with all the main 'must see' sights within a reasonable walk (or amble in the brutal August heat). We were upgraded on arrival to a larger room that was generous by any standard and, so I understand, unusual for the centre of Rome. The hotel is a little tired and jaded but that does add to its charm. The down side to this is that the plumbing was entertaining; the water pressure was so low that it took longer to fill the sink than to have a shave! And the shower head had less than half of the nozzles working. Not worth the effort of saying anything as we only used the room as a base from which to explore. Breakfast was a limited affair; fruit, hot drinks, bread, meat, cheese etc. the only hot food was boiled eggs... The staff were, in the majority, friendly and attentive. Facing onto the Piazza Monticitorio in a quiet area meant that we always had a little piece of tranquility at the end of a long day getting immersed in the vibe that is Rome. We saw other hotels in similar locations so we can't compare but overall it was a good choice.

We were on a three location trip in Italy and were having a fabulous holiday until we arrived here.

The writing was on the wall from the minute we were picked up from the station, driver didn't even offer to take a piece of luggage.

When we arrived at Hotel the welcome at reception was non-existent, we are still awaiting a hello.

The room we were given was last decorated 40 years ago at best. Wallpaper coming off the wall, badly stained with dripping liquid in some areas, bath had mouldy sealant also on shower screen, tiled floor was 6 inch tiles badly stained grouting in several areas, built-in wardrobes had rotten wood showing along the length at floor level, chipped woodwork in doorways, double bed was two singles together and my single had such a slope I fell out onto floor and spent the rest of night clinging on for dear life, 40 degrees outside required showering at least 2 to 3 times but towels were only changed once per day and only 1 tissue (in its own hotel box) was supplied.

The following morning we complained to both reception and agent (Citalia) and after lengthy discussions were moved to a deluxe room which was OK but still not 4 star quality.

Breakfast was continental but not of a high standard, bacon and eggs were extra cost.

Following our complaints we were sent to Coventry for the remainder of the holiday by all the hotel staff.

As per previous comments Dolcevita007 - we agree entirely I think the rooms in the pictures must be from another group hotel as we never saw anything like this.

Room Tip: Don't accept 210 or 321.
