A special wedding anniversary, 4 nights in may. best advice , book the highest suite you can justify, the best suite is located just below the Mirabelle restaurant which has fabulous views over the tree tops towards the Vatican.

Clearly a hotel which has had some former glory, with helpful staff (who even got us into the Vatican on a private tour at very short notice)

Room Tip: top tip, get a room that faces the park, city view, the rear rooms have ugly ventilation systems on n...

We checked into this hotel with our 10 year old daughter. The hotel informed our booking agent that there are no rooms that could accommodate a rollaway at all so we requested two connecting rooms. Upon arrival we realized the rooms were not only not connecting but around the corner from each other....the manager of the hotel told us that he could put a rollaway in the smaller room but he would have to continue charging us for both rooms. After much debate he agreed to cancel one room at a 400 euro cancellation fee.

The room we had was small with a smell. The third night the noisy airconditioner leaked on all our shoes...the fan kept us at night. The shower was such that the whole washroom would get wet and the toilets required three or four flushes. A fruit plate sent up to the room was moldy.

The staff treated us with arrogance especially the manager Danieli. It was rather unfortunate we picked this over the St Regis or Hassler. In stays at luxury hotels throughout Europe and worldwide, this hotel stands out for its exceptionally bad service and poor value for money. The only redeeming factors were the nice lobby and the location near Spanish steps.

If travelling to Rome stay elsewhere.

The hotel quality was excellent. The reception staff were extremely pleasant and helpful as were the doormen, concierge etc. The rooms were excellent, clean and comfortable. The hotel is let down by the lack of facilities for its guests, the outrageous pricing in their Mirabelle Restaurant bar and the arrogant, pretentious and condescending attitude of the older Maitre d' staff in the restaurant (The waiting staff, especially Roman, were however, very good). The hotel does not have a bar as such and relies on its guests obtaining evening drinks from the restaurant bar, which is not really a bar at all but an area to sit for a short while before eating in the restaurant. Do not dare to ask for a table outside or you will have your head in your hands!! Our group of 4 were charged €67 for 2 brandies (Remy VSOP), one filter coffee and one orange juice. Ridiculous to say the least. The Maitre d' looked at me as if I were an alien as we exited the elevator to enter the restaurant bar area. I had to explain we were residents, and had been for some time, and would like an evening drink before retiring. Simple you would have thought, but not here. The man did not even look our way for around 20 minutes as we sat in his restaurant bar waiting area. we were eventually served by a member of the waiting staff. Maybe services to guests was beneath him or maybe he actually did think we were aliens??? I am in the travel business - The Maitre d' here needs to enter the real world.

Stayed here for 3 nights.

Private transfer from airport that took 40 minutes.

On arrival greeted by friendly staff and shown to our room.

Room was as expected. Good size with a great sized bathroom.

Spanish steps 5 minutes walk away and Trevi fountain about 10 minutes. Great location for a number of restaurants and bars.

Had drinks in the restaurant one evening and that was all the Bank Manager would allow but great views.

Breakfast was good and very nice views looking onto the park across the road.

Overall a great hotel in a great locale.

Such a lovely hotel to spoil yourself in!
Expensive for evening drinks with cocktails starting at €20 and club sandwiches at €28 but you pay for the view!
The breakfast is amazing, well worth getting up for!!
Will be be back!

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of May for our 'mini moon'. Welcomed perfectly by the guys out side and in reception (What a great looking reception area!).

Had a deluxe superior room on floor 6, it was large, clean and had a very good lighting...Couldn't fault it. On our first night we were given a bottle of Martini Champagne as a present by the hotel!

Breakfast was good and had a good broad selection right from fruit, choose to good breads sweet and savoury, not to mentioned bloody marys, wine or Prosecco !

Was a 2 minute walk to the top of the Spanish steps and obviously only minutes walks to everywhere else.

Would stop again, couldn't fault it.

Room Tip: Room 603, Level 6. Double Superior Room. Good Location and quiet

We stayed here for 4 nights in May and would be happy to recommend it. The rooms were very quiet, spotless and also comfortable. We opted for the cheapest room but it was plenty big enough (huge bathroom too). Breakfast was typical Italian buffet style with plenty of choice, served in a light, airy room; a good way to start the day and fuel up for a hard day of sightseeing. We got some good restaurant recommendations from the concierge/reception and they were also helpful in directing us to Ostia.
Negatives - wifi is not free, though there is one free computer to use in the lounge area. For a hotel of this quality, I think free wifi should be provided. It is a tiny bit further out of town than we would usually stay for a sightseeing trip, but there is a metro at the Spanish Steps which is about 10 minutes walk away. As we were a group of 4, we tended to get taxis, which were not too expensive (compared to other european cities).
Overall, a pleasant hotel with great staff which made for an enjoyable mini-break.
