My favourite 5* hotel group is Ritz Carlton. They really do go the extra mile to make their guests feel special. The Sofitel is seriously restricted by the old building it occupies and overalll maintainance of the building is poor including rusting balcony ironwork , peeling paint and broken window frames. There is no outdoor area to sit and relax and read a book; the only option is the roof terrace bar/ restaurant. A genuine 5* hotel would have a choice of restaurants to offer both gourmet and more casual dining options, apart from breakfast the only dining option is the roof restaurant. We booked a Luxury Room with a view (some luxury rooms have no view!!) , however our view was of the rear of the appartment block opposite the hotel and we were awoken every morning by the constant barking of dogs. While the room was of reasonable size the bed matress was tired with sagging springs. The turndown service was consistently around the time guests would be getting ready to go out for the evening and never came back later to service the room if you declined their early visit. The real disapointment of the room was the bathroom; yes there was some marble and some nice tiling but you could not swing a cat in the floor space available.

If you are looking for simple, yet sophisticated elegance in a boutique hotel in Rome, the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese is the place to stay. The staff on every level could not be more accommodating, thoughtful and anticipates your needs, down to remembering how you like your eggs cook for breakfast. And breakfast is something of a feast. While it would be difficult to imagine what wasn't on the buffet, there is no doubt the staff could accommodate whatever your needs are.
The rooms are spacious by European standards and elegantly appointed. Bedding is extremely comfortable. The rooftop lounge at sunset should not to be missed.
A five star hotel in every respect. You can't go wrong staying here.

Room Tip: Higher floors have balconies. Located on a quiet street.

Dear Guest,

We are delighted to hear that you had a wonderful stay with us at Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese.

It was nice to hear that breakfast exceeded your expectations. Thank you very much for your kind words!

Indeed, early in the morning, French and Italian cultures blend together to delight guests’ palates at breakfast. A grand buffet greets guests with French croissants and pain au chocolat, fresh-baked cakes and biscuits, fresh fruits, homemade yogurt, cold cuts and cheeses, biological eggs and a large selection of breads including the delicious baguette, to accompany with the famous Italian coffee and the inevitable cappuccino.

Moreover, the "small table" dedicated to children, with the iconic puppet Pinocchio offers small colorful and appetizing cakes to our “Little Princes and Princesses."

Then, dedicated to well-being, the corner with organic and genuine products but also those adapted for specific diet.

Finally, do not miss the animation of the month where reigns a seasonal fruit expressed in imaginative combinations: smoothies, cakes, muffins, juices and many other delicacies.

We were delighted to provide you with our undivided attention.

We all look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Best regards.

This year, during 1st May holiday, we decided to visit Rome with our children. We carefully planned our trip in January. I contacted Mr Ivan Todorovic from the reception desk as we had special request to have two connected rooms. With his great assistance and also ladies from the booking department - Mrs, Elena Ruzzini, Mrs. Rita Tarntino and Mrs. DanielaDe Luisi we made the reservation of two wonderful rooms in the hotel. This was our third stay at Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese. Of course, nothing has changed from your previous visits. The servce was excellent, Check in was perfect, and everything was finished while we enjoyed n welcome drink on the 7th floor. Our children also enjoyed in perfect view to the city of Rome from the roof top restaurant. The two connected rooms which Mr Todorovic selected for our stay were perfect with excellent view to the city. I do not have to mention the quality of service because we visit Sofitel Rome for the third time. The restaurant for breakfast is very good, and also the roof top restaurant at the top floor. The selection of meals is perfect. The care for customers is practically excellent.
I can also mention Mr Luigi - the doorman, who played with our children while waiting for taxi.
As the conclusion, I would like to thank the staff of the hotel for excellent care and memorable stay .

Grand older property in a great location. Service is tops. Breakfast buffet is very good, the lady who runs the room is warm and personable. Interesting that they will make a plain omelette for free but will charge if you want a filling. We got a room at the front of the building and loved having a window to let in fresh air and getting the morning sun. You get free water when they make up the room and when it is turned down. FYI, garbage day is Friday so it can be noisy. Having to log in daily for the free wifi was annoying. Signal is good but not great. The bed was comfortable but the mattress springs were broken on the side I sleep on so it felt like I rolled off the bed each time I got out. King bed is two twins so there is a "crack" in the middle. Lots of restaurants in the area. Easy walk to Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Metro station but it's all uphill on the way back so pace yourself. Not sure why the fuss about the view on the 7th floor, it is nice but there are areas with better views.

Room Tip: don't get a room near the elevators. the floors there are marble so it is noisy.

Easter Morning's tolling bells awakened us and drew us out to our sun-filled balcony. The view over the Borghese Gardens blended well with the audio background. The hotel staff was well trained, polite, friendly and eager to be helpful. Location wise, we were a short walk to the Spanish steps and a longer walk to other desirable areas of Rome. Our new Rome destination hotel!

Room Tip: Select a room overlooking Via Lombardia or the Gardens.
