“Magnificent Hotel”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

We stayed at this hotel during a recent trip to Rome and had booked 2 rooms and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Everything about this place is perfect. We opted for their transfer service to/from the international airport ( costs extra but is absolutely worth it) . The staff was always smiling , courteous and ready to help us with our questions (whether it was about places to eat in the area or getting a cab, etc.).

In terms of location ,the hotel is situated on a quiet street and is at a walking distance from the Spanish steps (5 mins) ... maybe 20-25 mins from Trevi Fountain and a little longer (about 45 mins to an hour) from the Vatican... we rarely used a cab during our visit because the walk is fun with lots of shops and cafes on the way and a 1 hr walk to the Vatican doesn't feel that long at all

Our rooms were tastefully decorated with nice views of the street and the gardens ..the rooms were very quiet and the beds were comfortable (not amongst the most comfortable beds we have slept in but respectable)...One added benefit was that we could even watch the fireworks on New Year's eve from our balcony .

The only downside to the location is that there are not as many restaurants in the area and the food choices are rather limited . You would need to walk 20 -25 mins or more(or get a cab) to get to many of the top restaurants in Rome. We did try the Dinner at the "La Terrasse" restaurant at the hotel but it was a disappointment and frankly, one of the low points of the stay.

Overall, we would highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay here again.

I visited Rome last week for the first time in many years. Colleagues recommended the Sofitel Villa Borghese. the hotel was located near the Spanish Steps, which made it very easy to have access to the Via Veneto among other areas. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the doorman. It felt as though I knew him for many years. Our luggage was taken without any fanfare as with most hotels and we proceeded to reception. We were greeted by Antonino Marchetta the room division manager with such gusto we felt as though we were home. The bellman with the biggest smile took our bags to our room. Upon entering we were amazed at how beautiful, large, clean and with a view of the Borgese gardens that was so relaxing. We knew we picked the right place. As most persons we had a bit of jet lag so decided to order room service and when it was delivered, right on time, the presentation as well as the food definitely rated 5 + stars. Breakfast served in what we thought looked like a wine cellar was an experience unto itself. The selection of fruit, pastries, eggs, cheeses and especially the breads, yes the croissants were lighter and tastier than I every had in France. The service was so professional but included that very Italian friendliness.
Upon returning to the hotel after a day of touring, you did not feel you were in a hotel but rather your house. When it came to changing our flight arrangements, my compliments to Mr. Luca Bolzetta the assistant front office manager who went beyond his responsibilities and arranged exactly what we needed.
A team is only as good as its leader and kudos to Mr. Laurent Hudry General Manager of the hotel as he assembled a staff that he an be proud of and truly representative of his philosophy and of course Sofitel. If you are looking for a great hotel in Rome, great location not right on top of the hustle and bustle, then Villa Borgese should be your choice. If ratings went to 7 then this truly is a 7 star property.

There is nothing bad to say about this hotel. The staff were amazing! I felt completely at home from the moment I stepped in the hotel! They care for your every need, and are so friendly!

The rooms were superb. Clean, modern, comfy, with great beds! And the mini fridge was very well stocked!

The breakfast here is second to none! Delicious, with a ton of options.

The rooftop restaurant/bar has amazing food, and a fantastic atmosphere. The view of Rome is quite breathtaking from the top.

Overall, a magnificent experience.

The hotel was located 10 minutes walk from the Spanish steps, central to most locations in Rome.

Nice little room, modern feel, comfortable bed.

Breakfast was okay, nothing to write home about. The restaurant on the top floor was nice, friendly
service, amazing views, great cocktails... but the food was 6/10 for value.

The service was professional and friendly. Overall I would stay here again provided the price was competitive with other local hotels like the Intercontinental.

We spent three nights at this lovely Sofitel, which is situated in a wonderfully quiet neighbourhood, yet just minutes away from many of Rome's points of interest.
Front desk were warm and professional making check in a breeze. We had accidentally booked the entry level room which was a bit small but still more than comfortable. The furnishings were nice the room was clean and extras like the Bose docking station added to our enjoyment. We did not eat at the hotel but made sure we did not miss having cocktails in the rooftop bar. The service and views were amazing.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and would not entertain staying elsewhere when in Rome.

Just spent a week at the Hotel Sofitel Rome (august 2013). Very nice hotel within walking distance of the main sights. Metro is about 10 mins away and the 116 bus can take you direct to the Vatican. The only thing that would have been nice would be to have coffee and tea facilities in the room but it was very comfortable and staff were helpful and friendly. We ate out for virtually all meals including breakfast, and there are plenty of places to go within 5-10 minutes. Overall very good and recommended.
