“A luxurious stay”
Reviewed December 7, 2011

This has to be one of the most comfortable hotels I have ever stayed in. Feather beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, Hermes toiletries, quiet and private room, extravagant breakfast buffet and a roof-top restaurant overlooking Rome with views that make the trip unforgettable. Service was professional and welcoming. We were sorry to leave!

The location is great, walking distance to (some 10 min.) to Piazza Spagna or even to the Fontana di Trevi. Hotel as such and room was very nice. They only called me in the middle of the night by mistake advising that there was a car waiting for me...

The moment you walk into this hotel it smells amazing! They use some kind of scented oil which I tried to purchase for home use, but alas, it is not available. The front desk staff is very helpful with everything, including dinner reservations, where to go and what to do. Their command of English is excellent.
Our room was a spacious deluxe room with King bed. There was no view, only the street. I chose the hotel because I wanted a comfortable bed. It was soft, but there was a strange divet in the middle of it - maybe an old mattress? Nonetheless I slept very well.
The bathroom is very nice and spacious. There is a rain showerhead and also a handheld. The tub was wonderful and I took 2 very relaxing baths after long days of walking. The bath products are Hermes and smell delicious, plus they gave us plenty.
The terrace is beautiful and you have gorgeous views of the city. It's crazy expensive, but all of Europe is right now because the Euro is strong. Try not to convert everything and just enjoy yourself.
the little things - the front doormen were always helpful getting a cab, explaining where to go, housekeeping brought a razor and toothbrush we forgot.
Overall, very good experience and I would stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the higher floor and one with a view.

This was our first trip to Rome and what a lovely hotel. Excellent luxury room - newly decorated. Huge walk-in closet with safe and mini bar. Separate lounge area with a sleeper sofa. Nice bathroom with rainshower and deep tub. Big king size bed with lots of pillows. 2 flat screen tv's. Bose docking station. Nice linens. We had room service coffee and cocoa each morning - fast and delicious. Rooftop terrace for a surprise Thanksgiving lunch. Excellent turkey dinner and desserts. I loved everything about this hotel. The service was lovely. A quick walk to the Via Veneto and Spanish Steps. Room on 6th floor was dead quiet. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Luxury Room booked on hotel website - I Love Chocolate promotion was cheaper than the standard rack...

We booked 3 nights in a luxury room with either a view of Rome or the Gardens at the Sofitel Villa Borghese after our cruise ended in Rome, and had reasonably high expectations of a 5 star hotel in a large hotel group. It wasn't a great start as when we arrived the room wasn't ready and two hours later after asking Reception, we were told it had been ready for over an hour and 'my colleague should have told you'. The room was large and comfortable but the paint was peeling in the bathroom and it needed some work, and our view of Rome wasn't there and our view of the 'Gardens' was a rear empty courtyard with 3 trees in it. There was one free bottle of water in the room of about 350 ml's, hardly enough for two glasses of water per person, therefore you needed to purchase the mineral water from the bar fridge. Just a bit on the mean side, but okay not really a big issue. The shower was unusual, it was an old style hand held shower in a bath, but they had installed a rain shower head at a later stage. The funny thing was that where they positioned the shower head, you virtually had to stand on the end of the bath to get under it, so one foot in the bath the other on the top of the bath. Also the pressure was so poor that getting conditioner out of your hair was difficult, the water temperature was lukewarm and ran hot and cold and it was strictly one towel each per day. Not really what you expect from a 5 star hotel. The room service wasn't a success either, after the first day I felt like something simple so ordered a hamburger. All was fine other than the room service lady seemed offended by the intrusion and the bread roll was so stale it was a biscuit and crumbled when touched. The public areas were limited to a breakfast room and the Terrace Bar and Restaurant, which was nice with great views, but overall the hotel was a bit poor on alternatives compared to the Intercontinental down the road. The location is great but the obvious nickel and dimming spoils the experience, not really a 5 star hotel more a 3 star. There are other better options available in the same area for much the same cost.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere, but if you must, insist on a room with a view of the City, the gardens it seems are...

This is a great hotel to base your stay visiting rome. The rooms are very comfortable, decorated in traditional Italian style. Great views from the restaurant on the top floor. This is the place to stay in Rome.

I am a Platinium A-Club Member and honestly I don't know if this people are traveling often but this hotel is definately not a 5*...and for sure not a Boutique Hotel! (compare to Philipp Stark design)
Very disapointed for a Sofitel, staff are nice, room was ok for value but view over thi pipes in the courtyard....not very romantic.
Bar and restaurant...terrible!! very dated looking.(Go to the Hotel de Russie for a drink and you will see what is a nice bar and service)., Bar staff are so-so and on top of that it was Marrocan music and evening for 3 days! great if you are looking for an Italian atmosphere.
Wifi was not working always correctely and room service coffe was cold and not nice for Italy.
The good point is a good restaurant 2 min walk from hotel, Vladimiro.

Room Tip: Ask for higher level and view over gardens.
