My husband and I decided to stay at this hotel for three nights after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and then getting a very good deal with Last Minute.Com. and we were not disappointed in any way. All the staff, especially the General Manager were extremely helpful and dealt with us in a prompt and efficient manner. We had a very comfortable room with a little balcony on the fifth floor and there was no noise disturbance at any time. My only criticism was that the bed was too hard for me (but was fine for my husband). The breakfasts were plentiful and good. As the hotel is a little way out from the centre they have a free shuttle that drops you off near the centre by the metro which is very convenient. But you must book your place in advance with reception, otherwise you will need to wait for the next available one. There is a rail station about ten minutes walk from the hotel which we used a couple of times instead of the shuttle. All in all we really enjoyed this trip and will certainly stay here again when we visit Rome again!!

Room Tip: I would always choose a room on the higher floors away from the lift!

Lovely up market hotel, with great service and attention to detail. Stayed 3 nights. They let us check out late the last day. Room and bathroom were very nice! Really nice food and breakfast choice. Although out of town they have a regular shuttle that drops you off right next to the metro. Make sure you book in advance for busy times. You can easily ring the hotel from town to change pick-up times. Couple of minor niggles, hot breakfast was cool two mornings, also asked for room to be cooler and that the controls didn't work, they said it was controlled from their reception but asking their didn't change anything. I'd go back.

My wife and I stayed at the Duke over the Christmas holiday 2012. It was a great value (we used a coupon from LivingSocial.com). Concierge was friendly enough and extremely knowledgable, the rooms were clean, and the neighborhood was generally quiet.
The highlight of our stay was Christmas Eve dinner we ate at the hotel's restaurant. My wife has a gluten allergy, and we let them know in advance. They prepared alternative courses for my wife that aligned basically with what I was eating. They were very attentive to her needs. Our plan was to eat quickly and then head to the Vatican for midnight mass - but let's just say our spirits were too full to leave...
WHAT YOU MUST KNOW!!! This hotel is not in the city center. Planning is key to staying here. We used the shuttle as much as we could, but sometimes it was unavoidable for us to take a cab back to the hotel - and that is not cheap. Had I planned better, we could have used the shuttle the entire stay.
One last note - we are suburban, midwest kids, and have not been exposed to much "city animal" species. But if you are waiting for the shuttle in Popolo at night, beware the rats!

What a lovely hotel. What do some people expect. Rome is an expensive destination and this hotel was well priced -if a bit out of town- with a tremendous breakfast. Immaculate rooms and a great big comfy bed. The upgrade gives you the opportunity to try out your own Roman bath and they even lay on a shuttle bus dozens of times during the day to and from Piazza de Popolo. Great staff and room service ..... Loved it!

Room Tip: Spend a little more - it's worth it

Just returned from one week at The Duke, took our young teenage grand daughters, we had two rooms with connecting door allowing privacy and safety. The hotel is lovely, staff excellent nothing too much trouble for them and almost always with a smile, a little way out of Rome but has great shuttle bus service and the regular driver was so helpful and friendly. Cleaniness of hotel great with linen and towels changed daily. Excellent breakfast, restaurant food was also very good but could do with menu change or specials, menu remained the same the whole week of our stay.
While there my husband lost his wallet, it was found in the restaurant and returned to him as soon as it was found, staff are also very honest.
Will we stay here again, yes without hesitation, our next trip to Rome will be more relaxing and definitely include staying at The Duke.
