“Great authentic Roman Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

The Giulio Cesare is exactly what i was hoping a roman hotel would be. The room was beautiful, with views of the courtyard - there are a lot of trees around so not alot of city views. The bathroom was very spacious but not much counter space. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us directions and helped with our car service to the airport (our driver didn't speak english). The breakfast was quite good and a nice variety. I would recommend this hotel especially as it is close to a metro line and near the vatican.

Room Tip: Higher floors will offer the best views.

My sister and I decided to spend a day in Rome after a nine day cruise. When we arrived at the Hotel Giulio Cesare, we had wished that we could remain for more than the one day. The hotel is simply beautiful, the staff was welcoming and accommodating and our room was simply lovely. In the evening, after touring the Vatican, we decided to eat in the bar/lounge area. Giampiere, the afternoon concierge who was gracious and helpful, suggested that we eat in the beautiful garden, but we decided to remain indoors. He made certain to make us very comfortable. He assured us we would be well taken care of by Emanuelle, who not only served us a delicious meal (apologies were made because they did not have a full restaurant), and charmed us with his knowledge and love of the history of the hotel and its beautiful furnishings and accessories. The menu was just perfect for us. We decided to have the lasagna which was delicious and the wine that Emanuelle selected was the perfect complement to the meal.
We fortunately had the chance to go to the fifteenth floor and see the garden and the beautiful view of the Cupola. It is just spectacular, especially at night when it is lit up.
There is no doubt that upon our return to Rome, we will stay at the Giulio Cesare.

We got there late night, since it's Italy I was prepared to be told, there is no room or something, but checkin was perfect,
Small hotel but very nice and clean, breakfast is perfect, everything organic from their own farm, staff are really helpful, walking distance to everywhere , very large room
Only small issue we had was the heat as AC could not keep us with the hot weather, but not really major, I recommend this place , reasonable price also

Room Tip: chose the breakfast, you wont regret it

Just returned from brief, but extremely gratifying visit to Rome. Selected Hotel Giulio Cesare for our stay. What a wonderful find. The hotel is beautiful, intimate and very well appointed. We were travelling with another couple, and they too, were elated with the accommodations. Our rooms were on the 5th floor with a huge terrace overlooking all of the rooftops which included a breathtaking view of the dome of St. Peter's. All I can say is wow!!!!
The rooms were small, but not at all cramped, plenty of closet space and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathrooms were magnificent and immaculate. The rooms were very tastefully decorated.
The front desk was extremely helpful and friendly and eager to help with any inquiries a guest might have. The lounge area and bar were spectacular and the outside gardens were open to have drinks or cocktails and it was very relaxing. The breakfast room and the buffet were fabulous. The had a great selection at the buffet, and the maître d' was eager to please with any special requests, whether dietary or any special order a guest might desire.
The hotel has a free parking facility, and it is connected to the hotel, so no searching for parking.
Finally, although the hotel is not in the "thick of the city" it is in the Prati section of the city, very residential and upscale. It is not too far from the Vatican and their are plenty of taxis available, or, if you prefer, the train station is 2 blocks away. If you take the train, you are 2 stops from the Spanish Steps and all the other usual points of interest the city has to offer.
Finally, I cannot believe how reasonable the rates were, considering we were there during the first week of September, which is still considered high season. If you do not mind being a little away from the noise and the hustle and bustle of a big city, but still withing a 10 minute cab ride to the center of Rome, this is the hotel to stay at. We have been to Rome a dozen times, and have always stayed in or near the center, but this is our new "find" which I am sure we will be frequenting many times in the near future.

Room Tip: Try to book the 5th floor rooms

Don't expect the size of a typical American Hotel Room. Rooms are small and decorated to the standards of European cultures. Bed was very comfortable. The shower was a little small. The staff was welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Front desk staff caught us walking out early one morning and when we told them we were going on a day trip to Florence, they ran down to the kitchen and made us two nice snack packs.
Breakfast was excellent. Every morning eggs, ham, croissants, variety of juices and bread.
This hotel is located centrally between Vatican and Central Rome. Don't be afraid of a little walk. Within 15-20 minutes walking you can reach almost any point and if you don't like walking, Metro station is only a block away.
Give these guys a try.

This had to be the most depressing room I've ever stayed in. It was clean, but the decor and furnishings were old and dated. My room was below street level so it was dark and unwelcoming, it had a broken lock on the window. I asked to be moved, hoping to get a room on a higher floor, but the single rooms are only in the basement apparently. The breakfast was decent and the staff friendly. The outdoor patio was very pretty and I imagine in summer would be a nice place to sit with a drink. It's in a quiet residential neighborhood, but its not very convenient, most sights are a 20-30 min walk.
