We travelled to Rome in July 2013 for our honeymoon and this was the hotel where we stayed for the full week. We were not disappointed. The rooms were very clean, spacious and the air conditioning was a blessing. Our room had a view over Rome and of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore which was amazing. The basilica is also visible from the roof terrace where breakfast is served and where the bar and restaurant are situated for the evening.

All staff were helpful and very polite with great English; from the maids, to front desk, to waiters and porters. We booked trips through the hotel and the staff were very helpful with this and even checked on details of the trips when we asked. We were greeted warmly every day by all staff and really made to feel welcome.

We did not eat in the restaurant as it just didn't serve food to our liking (two very fussy eaters here and not a reflection on the restaurant) but we did eat downstairs in the caffe area and it was very nice. The staff were helpful and even made us something that was not on the menu which was greatly appreciated.

The hotel was a perfect base for our stay in Rome; very close to some major sights and walking distance from Termini station and Vittorio Emanuele metro station. When we return to Rome (the Trevi Fountain tradition has ensured we will) we will look to stay here again as it was perfect for us.

(Oh and the ice-cream shop just next door is amazing too)

Great hotel, very clean with lots of character. Rooms were large & comfortable. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Location is EXCELLENT for access from the train station & walking to the Roman attractions. The Vatican Museum is a bit far away to walk to, so get a taxi to that. Breakfasts on rooftop restaurant are good too. You need to ask at the front desk for access to the wifi network, but it is free.

We stayed there in July 2013 and had a very enjoyable time. The room was lovely with great air conditioning which was a blessing because it was very hot. The hotel served lovely food. The roof terrace was beautiful with lovely views across Rome and you could have drinks/coffee there. Staff very friendly. Location good as you can walk to shops, Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. Also if you don't want to eat at the hotel lots of alternatives close by.

I really, really liked this hotel. I emailed the front desk for two different reasons the week before I arrived, and I received a prompt response both times. The front desk staff helped with everything they could, and they all spoke pretty good English. The rooms were comfortable for their size and cleaned impeccably. I was a little disppointed that the one night I could eat dinner at their restaurant, my menu selection was COMPLETELY fixed, but that's because they were hosting a wedding reception. I'd give a 4.5 if I could.

The Mecenate Palace was recommended to us by friends. We were very pleased. The room was up-to-date and very quiet, even though we were directly overlooking Santa Maria Maggiore. Staff at the front desk were very helpful. We enjoyed breakfast on the rooftop - excellent coffee, and the usual buffet spread that one finds in a good hotel in Europe.

One tip: The room had very effective black-out curtains, so don't rely on the morning sun to wake you!

Room Tip: We had room 421 - highly recommended. Great view of Santa Maria Maggiore, but no street noise.

We have just spent 3 nights there in a triple room (this was in the main hotel), the room was clean (maids came every day) it had air con, good shower facilities,mini-bar (with good prices) and TV (although we could only receive CNN & BBC news) topped off we had a fantastic time in Rome!. The rooftop garden is lovely, really relaxing for a drink/cocktails at the end of the night and we had a really nice evening meal there one night (not expensive) The hotel is within walking distance of most attractions (we took a taxi to the Vatican which cost 15 euros) The hotel is nice and quiet and everybody we saw from staff to customers were happy, I would not hesitate in stopping there again.

Room Tip: we asked for a quiet room, high floor

Just returned from 6 glorious nights in Roma!! Hotel Mecenate Palace was just superb. Upgraded to a suite on floor 5A. Just perfect and the air worked very well!!! Claudio, Roberto and Max were ever so helpful... Recommended delicious restaurants in the area, (Nueova Stella and Cecio ) helped me find a wheel chair and just plain wonderful gentlemen!!! The gelato stand next door is a bargain! 3 scoops 2,80E. Tried 3 new flavors each day. Having a belli on the rooftop each night was such a treat. Remember to buy your drinks downstairs for Happy Hour Prices and then climb 30 steps to the beautiful rooftop. Breakfast was classic European. They did have fresh fruits. Some reviews say otherwise. Watermelon and yellow plums everyday. You can walk to the Termini but no shopping. That was really my one disappointment. Walking distance to most major attractions. Make sure you stop at the the beautiful church across the street. Loved listening to the bells every 15 min. A wonderful hotel! Will return!

Room Tip: Ask for room in main building
