“Pleasant stay and good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2014

My husband and I stayed at the Amalfi while we were in Rome and enjoyed our stay. It's in a good location, convenient to the Termini which was wonderful in dealing with luggage.

The room was small but clean and neat. The beds were comfortable and we didn't have any problems with noise while sleeping. This seems basic, but after staying in other 3 star establishments in Italy and finding hair on the pillows/sheets, run down dirty floors and paper thin walls...well, the Amalfi does a fantastic job!

Breakfast was great! The woman who works in the breakfast room was so friendly and sweet! I just loved her! The food was plentiful, fresh and good--my husband enjoyed the sausage and cheese, I enjoyed the boiled eggs and applesauce (which weren't offered at any of the other 4 hotels we stayed at on this trip).

We had a mix up about being charged for breakfast because we had booked through a third party. The Amalfi website states that breakfast is complimentary and when we checked into the room we were told when breakfast was served but not about any pricing (confirming our belief that it was indeed complimentary). When checking out, we were surprised with a bill that was much larger than anticipated. The clerk was kind and knocked off a few Euro after explaining that we should look at the fine print. I agree with that assessment and I'm careful to do so, but if you stay here and are watching your funds, double check because the whole thing was misleading. The breakfast was delicious, but had we known we were paying for the service we probably would have found a different alternative.

In spite of this mix up, the Amalfi hotel was one of my favorite hotels in Italy. It was a very good value and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

Dear Guest,

Thank you posting your personal opinion about the Hotel Amalfi.

I am happy to read your considerations about our breakfast buffet and our location.

The breakfast is always included in the price if you book directly with us.

In this case you book with a third part that didn't include the breakfast in the price.

I'm sorry you were not advised before.

Hope to see you in the future!

Regards

We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in this friendly hotel. There was a very good choice for breakfast and the waitress was so cheery and welcoming always greeting everyone with a smile, I found the hotel to be very clean and the beds were comfortable, handy for the bus and train terminals and of course next to Santa Maria Maggiore

Have just come back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. What a little gem! All members of staff that we met were extremley friendly and vert happy to help. Our room was on the 4th floor at the front but when the shutters were closed we could not hear a thing. Nice size room with a mini bar which had very good prices. Room was very clean and bed very comfortable. Only one little complaint was sbout the hairdryer, not at all powerfull if you have long hair , take your own! Breakfast was great, cereal, bread, cheese and cold meats along with a selection cakes and pastries. Turn right out of the hotel and right again and within ten minutes you are at the colloseum, excellent hotel.and pastries. cakesand pastries.

Hotel is well located for seeing the sights of Rome. Most places are within easy reach by foot and the train/metro is only 10 minutes away for going a bit further afield.

The rooms had everything you would need and were kept clean and tidy each day. Breakfast is a continental buffet with plenty of choices and drinks served by a delightful lady who brings a smile to your face every morning (buongiorno, buongiorno, buongiorno). All staff are friendly and helpful. We had a room on the road side but the traffic was only a problem with the window open.

Would recommend eating at various places on Via San Martino Ai Monti.

If I ever go to Rome again I would stay here.

The location of the hotel is very good for visiting Rome. All the major places are within a walking distance. Also the train station was a walking distance. The staff was very friendly and forthcoming. They gladly helped us with information regarding museums, distances, transport, restaurants etc. The rooms were small but even if we stayed for 5 nights it was not a problem. Normally you do not spend that much time in the rooms anyway. The bathroom was ok except the space between the toilette chair and the shower panel. There was simply no room for your legs. The shower had very poor pressure. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was of a standard type. The size of the breakfast room was too small. You had to wait to get a table every morning. The hotel was very clean.

This hotel is centrally located, 10 mins walk from the station, 15 mins walk from the Colosseum and the forum, and within easy reach by Metro of the Vatican (probably the only site you wouldn't walk to from the hotel). There are lots of cafes and restaurants locally, many of them really well priced. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are welcoming and helpful.

We travelled down to Naples for the Swansea city v Napoli game.
Couldn't fault the hotel.
Lovely welcoming people good breakfast
Central location minimal noise despite being on busy Main Street
