Very clean and comfortable hotel within close walking distance to the beautiful 5 star Via Veneto strip, as well as the Spanish steps and the ancient centre of Rome. All staff were friendly attentive and very pleasant. Our family room was spacious clean had many channels including English ones. There were many comfortable places on all floors to sit and read, hotels computer was great the roof top terrace and service there were very good. My only criticism was had to pay or wifi and that we were told at check in that breakfast was included, I checked again before entering the dining room for breakfast that it definitely was included, arrived at dining room was told our room number was not in the breakfast package, I asked them to check with reception, they checked and they were correct. Could have caused embarrassment but I was half expecting it after the previous reviews and happily went to a lovely cafe in the next street and had a 4 euro breakfast instead of a 19 euro breakfast they offered me at the hotel apart from this we felt it was overall good value for the money

Room Tip: they were all quiet rooms because of the city wall out the front, notmuch of a view except of the wa...

Our experience in this hotel was not good. This was partly our own fault, as we didn't keep complaining about the bad smell or the general bad condition of the room (I believe the bad smell was from the carpet tiles in the room which were dirty beyond belief!). We were on vacation though, and really, we shouldn't have had to complain to get a descent room at the price we were paying. The front desk said they would send someone up to check on the smell after I went down to complain, but they didn't do anything about it. The front desk never did ask us if the problem had been resolved to our satisfaction. Also the AC didn't work well, we had to keep the window open most of the time. There was one tall older man who was on the front desk a lot and he was very grouchy to guests. The dining room where we ate breakfast had very dirty carpeting, but the food was good. The terrace dining area was pretty, but bad service and food was not that great. I liked the location of this hotel a lot, I could walk to Spanish Steps, but it was a good long walk, uphill on way back.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel or make sure you can get refund if you can't get a good room.

This is a small boutique hotel. Our original room was very small and very out of date. The mattress seemed to sag as well. We upgraded for 50 euros/night to a 'triple' room which had a regular American-type king bed, a larger bath, a desk, a corner view with 3 windows overlooking ancient ruins as well as a couple chairs. I believe this was room 206. The front desk service was very good and their English was excellent. They provided us with maps highlighted with the best routes to all the best things to see. We stayed for a total of 6 nights. I am not a fan of the claw foot tubs however. We heard good things about the rooftop restaurant but preferred to eat out in the city instead. We did to the daily buffet breakfast which was convenient.
The hotel is a bit out of the way, but many hotels are located here and it is at least close to the Spanish steps and the high end shopping at via condiotti. You can take a 15 min cab ride to the Vatican or the colleseum. We actually walked back each night and felt totally safe other than the crazy drivers and the scooter traffic. We are not likely to stay here again though.

Room Tip: Contact the hotel in advance to understand room sizes. Our 'double' room was tiny and out o...

Just back from a 5 night stay at the Victoria. Overall it was a good stay but having stayed here a few times in the past we were disappointed that this visit wasn't as good as before. The rooms are ok, a bit dated and needing work in places, just a bit old and tired looking, but clean and comfortable, so not bad.

The rooftop restaurant is pleasant and the food good, and the staff were very helpful, although the bar man was a bit bad tempered.

In previous years breakfast was complementary, however, despite this still being advertised as such on sites such as Expedia and flexitrips this is no longer the case and breakfast now costs €19 each, which was an unpleasant surprise and we were disappointed that the hotel just said that it was an error on some sites and didnt seem to care. Obviously someone has not updated the hotel details somewhere along the line, but I would hope that the hotel will look into this to ensure it doesn't happen in future, as we were not the only people to be caught out by this problem, and an additional €38 a day is a lot.

We purchased hotel thru Expedia pkg. We reserved a family room but due to family already in the room extending their vacation we got two separate rooms.. It was ok but a pain because it,s old type room keys and only one key per room. So inconvenient but the staff at desk Nicoli was great. he gave us the best. Advice and took care of us. the porters were also very nice. Arturo in the rooftop bar, which is very nice was pleasant. After our cruise we again returned and received the family room which was roomy and I really should have pushed getting it for the whole stay. All in all We would definitely stay here again. breakfast was fine, no real interaction with staff. Caffes right around corner and grocery store too. Take a city cab for 7 euro st.Peters for family of four. If touring Rome or using hop on hop off buses just remember the hotel is by the wall and after a long day in the heat the hill to get back is exhausting.

Room Tip: Get a family room or adjoining room. It was a pain to bang on the door to wake my teenage sons.

I stayed at this hotel in April with my family and friends for my wedding - a group of 40 in total and was very disappointed. The rooms were clean and we got a relatively good offer for a big group staying for four nights. We had travelled to Rome when planning our wedding to check it out and were pleased with the first meeting we had with the manager. However I would not recommend bringing a group here as the majority of staff were very unfriendly and unprofessional. It was an absolute nightmare trying to communicated with the lady in charge of sales: Barbara- I was lucky if I got a reply after 3 weeks via email. Both the staff at breakfast time and the bar staff were cranky and rude. Just before we were due to check out the reception staff charged one of our guests incorrectly and created a very embarrassing scene when they tried to rectify it and refused to apologise. It goes without saying I definitely won’t be staying in the Victoria again and wouldn’t recommend it.
