We won a four night stay at the Savoy, so perhaps we shouldn't complain, but the fact is this hotel is living off the Savoy name. The location is brilliant - right off the Via Veneto. The public areas are lovely - classic, ornate old style. It's the rooms & the staff that are really off the mark here. Except for one young woman of African origin, the front desk staff were cold & not very helpful. We were initially given a very small room facing a dark inner courtyard that felt more like a cell than a hotel room. The layout was horrible, too. The front desk staff were uncooperative about moving us until the shift changed & we were helped by the young woman previously mentioned. The room we moved to was larger, though still small, but with a much better layout & view. The beds were uncomfortable & the pillows (if you can call them that) were a joke. We requested different pillows but were told they were all being used by others - no wonder.

The breakfast room is downstairs, i.e., no windows. Breakfast selection was generally good though it would have been nice to have some plain, no-sugar yoghurts. Breakfast room staff were pleasant. We only ate breakfasts in the hotel. They do have a lovely rooftop bar with nice views of Rome.

Unfortunately, the only thing this hotel has going for it is its location. Too bad. We would not return despite its convenience.

Dear Guest,
I feel so sorry you could not appreciate our Hotel, in despite of all my efforts to make our Guests feel at their ease. Some of your pointing out are right, we are in an ancient Palazzo built in the 19th century and this sometimes adds charme and some others penalizes. Unfortunately there is no solution for rooms dimensions and at present for downstairs breakfast room. At least you found good the food (I personally have plain lowfat yoghurt daily, it's unusual you didn't find it)

We will all work hard to improve in kindness and customer care; Dega, the girl you positively mentioned, is part of our staff since long time and every other member of my team should act and help the same.

Thank you for your suggestions and regards

The Hotel Manager

THE worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Bed uncomfortable, pillows like sandbags or the other literally had no filling, shower flooded the bathroom, room facing a brick wall. We checked out a day early. Just don't do it to yourself!

A delightful, family run hotel situated on the corner of the Via Veneto which retains something of its glamorous past when it was built 'for the aristocracy'. Others have written more on the hotel itself and the area.

We stayed for six nights and our room was perfect - good sized and quiet with a pleasant bathroom. Linen was changed every day and the staff were extremely helpful and are to be praised for their hospitality. We ate once at the roof restaurant and the food was fine and the place fairly quiet. The views over Rome from the roof terrace are stunning. After that we found other places in the area, of which there are a number and those we tried were excellent.

This is a very good hotel which, based on our experience, we would highly recommend.

Dearest Guest,

I really mean to thank you for your nice and fair review.
Our efforts are not always recognised by clients but many times frustrated.

I have a long experience in hospitality and am aware that people arriving at the Savoy have very high expectations which sometimes remain rejected, not considering that ours is a four star hotel, in an ancient palazzo, very well located which also means that we are not a five star hotel, the beautiful aristocratic palazzo gives us a lot of restrictions, when refurbishing i.e., and the downtown location make us unable to grant a great view from the rooms. We are so proud of our roof garden, there are not so many places with such a view over Rome like ours!

So please kindly accept my thanks for your well-balanced, equable and honest review.
We wish to have you as our guest again in the future,

sincerely

Hotel is located in the Via Veneto area which is near the US Embassy and a short walk to the Spanish steps. The area is a high end portion of town with great shopping and dining options.

We took a quick walk over to Harry's Bar for a drink, just to say we did! Likewise the roof top bar is an excellent venue to enjoy the sites of room. Service was a bit slow on the roof top but the waiter was very friendly and remembered us from night to night.

Our rooms were spacious and clean. The sound prooffing and blackout shutters made it very easy to sleep. (Probably too easy!)

The breakfast buffet is in the basement and offers a lot of variety, so you will not go hungry.

We highly recommend the Savoy.

Room Tip: Every room has excellent sound deadening windows and blackout blinds. If you prefer to bypass eleva...

The hotel is okay. On internet i saw 5stars. Thats a bit much. It's a 4star. The hop on iff bus us close by, about 100mtr to the right... Rooms are good, though sone more space for rhe toillet would be nice. The hotel has a fantastic roof terrace. The elevators though are a bit scary, for sure these need to be updated...
Concluding, the hotel is fine, but expected more.

Just returned from 3 nights at the Hotel Savoy. Ideally located a short stroll from The Spanish Steps and an even shorter stroll from the open top first bus stop (Ciao Roma). Hotel was missing a bit of English comfort i.e. tea/coffee making facilities, however, as a base it was just fine with a lovely rooftop bar and great views over the city. Breakfast was very good, a great stay
