“Stylish hotel in a great area of Rome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2012

Friendly and helpful staff greeted us upon arrival and provided us with a good map of the city with the main attractions. The hotel is located in Trastervere a great place to go for a nice traditional meal and some wine in the evenings. We managed to walk all over Rome, but it was about 30mins to the Colosseum and maybe 45mins to Vatican city. The room was spacious and modern in an apartment style with a kitchenette (that lacked any pots/pan/plates/utensils) and a sofa), there were a few marks and scuffs which should easily be fixed. The bathroom was pleasant and clean too. Breakfast had a great range of hot and cold options, but we found the hot options were not of high quality as we expected and also the juice was poor.

Good size room and awesome breakfast. However the walls are paper thin and all doors slam when closed. Unless you are a heavy sleeper, forget it.

This is a great hotel! The location is fabulous, the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, and the free breakfast is delicious! If you take the train from the DaVinci airport, get off at the Roma Trastevere station, walk to the main entrance and follow the main street straight off of the train station's main entrance. Walk about 15-20 minutes on that main road (straight) and then turn right at a Bank (can't remember the street name). Follow that road for 2 minutes and the hotel is on your left. It's really easy to find, but if you're reluctant to walk, it should cost you about a 5-7Euro taxi ride.

I stayed at the hotel this week and overall found it a positive experience.I was part of a large international group attending a conference in Rome and the organisers had arranged the hotel. The hotel, as others have said, is a short walk from buzzy Trastevere and its many dinig and entertainment options. Also close to transport links to railway station and buses.
Check-in was smooth and the room provided large and clean. No wardrobe for clothing however just some hangars on a rail. Lighting could do with some rethinking-even with all the lights on it was dim.I would also have appreciated a kettle in the room---there was none..Bathroom was also clean but very little space to store toiletries.Bath was deep and potentially hazardous to get out of.Shower which was a hand held and attached to the wall really inadequate for those who prefer showering.Poor water pressure and temperature control.
Breakfast varied and fresh with options to suit most tastes. The coffee, and this I feel is inexcusable in Italy, completely undrinkable. There are many local bars/coffee shops in the area where a fine espresso is available but I really feel the hotel (particularly a supposed 4*) should be able to provide this.
My view is that on several levels the hotel and its facilities is more of a good three star than a four.As such it may be a good option if you are able to secure a deal that reflects this and want to stay in the area , which is a little removed from the main tourist hub

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony if possible

Room had a mechanical problem when we arrived and we reported it the next morning. It was repaired before we returned that day. Big plus because we honestly weren't sure they understood our request.

Bathroom is a death trap from the standpoint that the bathtub is elevated off the floor and you must step high and over with wet feet (no mat in tub) and hope you survive. We did.

Breakfast was fine. Buffet was the same each morning, but included eggs, bacon, sausage, assortment of fruits, breads, cereals and a coffee machine that made a variety of drinks. Great way to start the day and no additional expense.

Staff was friendly and generally helpful.

I would stay here again as it represented a good value for the money and I loved staying in Trastevere.

Room Tip: You may want to ask for a room away from the scaffolding that would block your view of nothing in pa...

The Ripa Hotel was located in the Trastevere area.....about a 10 minute walk to the Tiber River in one direction, and a 12 minute walk to the Trastevere Station. The room was extremely spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet was EXCELLENT. The map provided by the hotel was VERY helpful.

Bit anxious about staying in this hotel after reading the reviews but we were both pleasantly suprised! Location is in the middle of a local district but doesn't suffer because of it, room layout was a tad different to what we're used to which isn't a bad thing! Clean and tidy with a great breakfast selection in the morning; would stay there again.
