This is a great little hotel, entirely on the third floor of a building. If you don't like stairs, read no further, there are 58 of them and no lift.

Most contributors mention how hard this hotel is to find so I took the precaution of having a look at it on Google Street View. I'm glad I did as we arrived in the dark after our flight out was delayed. There is no sign, just a door push but we got there okay. We used the express coach from the airport to the Terminii and walked for about 15 minutes to get there.

The room was very nice, well furnished, clean and with airconditioning. As other contributors mention, the street side is noisy so we usually kept the windows closed. Breakfast is served on a tray in the room, from a menu filled in and posted the evening before. The manager Mauro is extremely welcoming and will do everything he can to make sure visitors get the best from his home city. His advice on visiting tourist spots, how to use the public transport and where to get good food was invaluable.

As for Rome - what can I say? This was our first visit and it was everything we hoped it would be. The Forum and Colisseum are just a short walk from the hotel and with a map and guidebook we explored the city on foot. The only time we used the train (Cavore station is a five minute walk) was to go out to Ostia Antica which was an unexpected delight.

This hotel is in a perfect position for exploring central Rome and there are plenty of eateries and bars nearby too. The Presidential Palace is nearby so it is quite busy. It is quite a trendy area but prices in restaurants were pretty good. We had been told Rome was expensive but compared to London prices, they were very good.

I would happily recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Rome and hope to stay there again myself.

Hi there and thank you very much for writing this review! We are not able to write a better explanation of the Hotel!

So glad we were able to letted you enjoy Rome and our restaurants, it is our main focus!

Let us just specify something: Google maps could be a usefull system, but we figured out that it does not work very good for the historical centre of Rome! Probably, in order to find where our Hotel exactly is, it is better our website!

Look forward to meeting you again!!!

This hotel is centrally located within walking distance from many major attractions! The rooms are adequate, clean and the beds are decent.

The street side rooms are very noisy as is the plumbing, and the morning staff that are getting the breakfast started.

When it rained the toilet backed up which apparently the owner claimed was a Rome problem!

Mauro (general desk manager ) was extremely helpful with tips on everything; providing suggestions on restaurants to eat at, and good bars.

At the end of a long walking day the stairs to the 3rd floor are truly a killer!! Truly!

Hello there and thank you very much for sharing your experience in our Hotel!

All our rooms have double glasses windows; when closed no noise could enter from outside. Though, there is an air conditioning system in all our rooms.

Our toilette system is brand new, sewer not so much (which is a building system and being considered as a monument we do not have much action about renovating it). When it rains, actually there are no problems and we found out that too much papers were threw in the WC, causing the block of the pump that flushes the water. Nothing serious though, as we fixed the problem in 5 minutes.

Thanks also for reminding everyone that we are at the third floor of an ancient building without elevator, so who reads and reserves will not have a bad surprise (it is anyway written everywhere before reserving).

A personal greeting and thanks from Mauro!

We stayed here last week and loved it. I agree with the comments below, we struggled to find the place as there is no sign it's a hotel. After finding it we were buzzed in and explained everything you need to know about Rome. What not to do, what to do etc by Mauro who was great. The hotel was in a perfect spot. A 750m walk from Roma Centrale Train station means you don't need to catch a cab from the airport. Also it's very close to coliseum. We walked everywhere. The breakfast is a nice touch. The area is very cool with some awesome bars in Via Panisperna. The rooms were fine, free wifi and a safe. I'd definitely recommend this place to friends and everyone. Give it a go.

We stayed there for three nights in October. The hotel is really only one floor with six or seven rooms, so that it is not a place for everyone. We arrived around 2 P.M. from the airport and were helped up to our room by a friendly and fluent manager on duty. We had a room overlooking a small alley and it was quiet. The room was clean and had three windows for cross ventillation, and a split airconditioner which we did not need. In the morning the housekeeper brings a basic breakfast you order the night before. If you don't mind climbing up three flights of steps, this place is a great choice for those who do not want to spend a lot more for a hotel.

Thank you so much for such a good review.

Let us say that our Hotel is indicated for those that come in Rome for the first time, mainly because our first strenght is the map we give everyone, with all our tips and advises of the City: how to avoud queues, best restaurant and even how to walk around. Of course, should not be your first time in Rome, we could still surprise you...

That is what we wish! You to come back again!

We stayed at the hotel de Monti for 3 nights. It's an easy walk from the train station and is close to all the big sights. You feel like you are in a neighborhood vs a tourist area. The room was basic but clean. Mauro who checks you in is amazing. He gives great restaurant advice! The only issue is that it's a bit noisy especially in the AM when they are preparing your breakfast. Everything echoes in the single hallway. This isn't enough however to prevent a future stay.

Hello and thank you very much for posting this review and for all the compliments!

We love to give our guest all tips and advises to enjoy Rome at the best! We never let a guest leave without our map and our explanation, the only forced thing a person has to do in our Hotel!!!

Let us though remind everyone that we are at the third floor of an ancient building not provided with a lift and, not having a sign outside, our website is the best to get directions.

Until the next time!

After arriving at a wooden door with no signage whatsoever, we were instantly unsure about our choice.

Then we found Mauro; the superb manager of Hotel de Monti. He buzzed us up into the hotel and assisted with our luggage up the three flights of stairs. He then proceeded to explain the best things a young couple should do in Rome and how to avoid the usual tourist traps. This is a right up our alley, and we learnt so much from Mauro.

The Monti district of Rome would suit younger travellers as it's quite a hip, trendy area with several low key bars and restaurants well away from the tourist area yet close enough to walk to the main historical sights. We walked to the Colosseum in about 15 mins door to door.

The room was spacious, clean and well equipped for our three night stay. The double glazed windows came in handy as the Festival de Monti was on and goes a fair way into the night.

The breakfast provided was light but a nice way to start the day as you could choose the time you wanted it delivered to your room.

Only downside, and it's minor, was the plumbing noise that a few people have mentioned previously, and a bit of a hum/buzz from the fuse box during the night but other than that, no issues and we'd definitely come back.

Well done Mauro, you provided us with a magnificent stay in Rome and delivered us a nice touch with champagne on arrival for our first wedding anniversary.

Hi Ryan, this is Mauro.

Thank you so much for posting this review, so glad we did let you pass a good journey in Rome!

You completely described everything, including what we more care about: the "bad things2. We definitely do not prefer our guests to have bad surprises once in here, so thank you so much for telling about the stairs, the door and everything else!

A huge hug from me, and we all look forward to meeting you guys again!

P:S. I'm not the manager, just the front desk man! The manager is Alessandro!
