This hotel was a great find- on booking I was nervous due to the low star rating but don't be put off! As clearly stated on hotels site there is no lift due to the age of the building but Mauro was on hand to assist with our bags on arrival. He was helpful from the moment we arrived high listing on a map areas best for food and areas to avoid due to high tourist prices as well as tips to avoid queues when visiting the colosseum. Tips were all spot on and we were able to see far more in our short stay than had we not have got the tips.
Rooms were quite compact but comfortable and very clean. Internet was available free of charge in rooms. Breakfast was simple but delivered promptly at time of your choice.
For the location and price and of this hotel you could not ask for more.
Excellent staff, would recommend to others.

Hi Liz and thank you very much!

Mostly because you remind everyone is reading that WE ARE NOT A LUXURY 5 STARS HOTEL!!!

Our "homemade" service, is the part of our job that we like more than everything, because it makes all our guests happy to have chosen us. We first of all care of our guests satisfaction, once we had a huge true smile, then we let you check-out!!!!! ahahah!

Until the next time, hopefully the soonest possible!

It is a very good hotel to stay near the bus stop. We got to stay in a room which was small but very neat and well-maintained. I had stayed in a number of hotels before but the customer service of Hotel de Monti is something to remember! Apart from being cordial and welcoming, the staff is very well-trained in hospitality, something which I really liked about this hotel. Room service was excellent and the breakfast was served at exactly the time promised. Great discipline!

Thank you!

Of course, one of the most important thing that we think has to be done, is hospitality, that inlcudes as well sharing with our guests all the little secrets in order to enjoy Rome at its best!

Please, remember also that we are a not a luxury Hotel and our rooms are at the third floor and there is no lift.

We look forward to meeting you again!

Nestled in one of Rome's best neighborhoods, this fourth floor walk-up hotel is a real gem. The rooms (only seven of them) are new, the service is first-rate, and the daily breakfast is simple and delicious. Compared to other hotels in the area, the value is tremendous. The trade-off is no on-site services after 8pm when the front-desk person departs.

Thank you so much for the review posted and please, let us remind that we are at the third floor of an ancirent building not provided with a lift and not having a panel outside, we suggest to go on our website for directions.

Also, our reception is only open in the afternoon and our check-in is only from 1pm to 6pm.

Thank you!

We stayed at Hotel De Monti in April 2013. The place is centrally located an at a walking distance from almost all the local attractions - but so are most of the hotels in Rome. Most buildings are either restaurants, monuments or hotels - just kidding.
The check-in experience to begin could have been better. When they say Check in time is between 10-6 they really mean it. The charge post that is E 30 ( We tried to negotiate.)
The person who checked us in gave us just basic (sometimes incomplete) information about the hotel. I so wish it was Mauro - he is much more helpful.
The room was quite small, not much place to move around. The only thing that I liked about this hotel is it is super clean and hygienic.
The room was on the street side and quite noisy until very late night. You could hear the garbage van emptying the bins right to your bed. We complained to another guy who showed up the next morning, but he just smiled... :(
They needed us to settle the bill a day before, so we had to make a detour from our sight-seeing route, pay the bill and then go back... not to pleasant...
Breakfast is the same everyday and needs to be pre-ordered.
All and all a clean place to sleep in the city center. But it can be much more only if they decided.

Room Tip: Avoid street side rooms.

Hello and thank you for sharing your experience here.

But, please, let us clarify something:

- our location, lets you reach all the most important Roman monuments, within a maximum 25 minutes walking and it is not like this in most of the Hotels...we also are in the oldest and most characteristic part of Rome; here, is the place where Rome was built more than 2700 years ago, there is not any building brand new.

- about the check-in: it is written everywhere at what time is our check-in (1pm-6pm) and also that our reception officially opens at 1pm and closes at 8pm. It also written that late check-ins have a cost (30 euros) and you actually did not negotiate, WE did you the favor to let you pay half price as we called you (you did not advise us you were coming later) and it seemed you did not know our check-in was only until 6pm. We just thought it was appreciated as we letted you pay only 15 euros and we paid the rest.

- all our rooms are the same size, it just changes the dispostion of the room, all with double glassed windows and air conditioning, so with the windows closed and the air conditioning on, no noises from outside.

- You have been informed that the payment had to be done the day before check-out (10am), because reception is not open in the morning and we prefer our guests to pay at the very end of the service; why did you not tell us you were not able to come back, so we could set the payment at the check-in?

- our breakfat is brought in room every day and consists in all regional Roman local fresh products, there are absolutely no international/continental products and, reading the other reviews, it really seems you are the very first one that did not like it...

We anyway hope you will have the chance to come back, in order to explain better in which consists our service, which is not (sorry to say that) what you have wrote.

All the best!

We stayed at this hotel in June as part of our 3-city honeymoon. It was perfect! The location was great, central to everything. The room was wonderful, quite large compared to others and very clean. The breakfast delivery each morning cannot be beat! We can't say enough how pleased we were with the stay as well as the attentiveness of the staff. Mauro sat with us and made sure we understood the map, and even pointed us in the direction of the best little restaurant. We will definitely be staying here again when we return. Thanks for a great stay!

Hello! Thanks so much for this beautiful review!

Let us though remind that we are at the third floor of an ancient building not provided with a lift and that, not having a sign outside, the best way to reach us is getting directions on our website!

Ciao!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and had a great stay. We flew into Fiumicino and ended up getting a shuttle bus to the hotel as it wasn't much more expensive than getting the train. For those getting the train it's about a 5-10 min downhill walk from Termini. Our shuttle took us directly to the hotel and we recognised the front door from Tripadvisor photos but if you're walking from the train station make sure to get directions as the place might be a bit difficult to find as the entrance is a plain brown door with no signs. We were aware about the flights of stairs but we didn't have much luggage and Mauro gave us a hand so it was not an issue.
The room was very nice, I think it was one of the newer rooms because I didn't recognise it from any of the Tripadvisor photos. It was an adequate sized clean room, with a street view. The bathroom had a shower, sink and toilet and was very clean, the only thing I would say is the sound from the water pump was very loud and while it didn't bother us we were conscious that it might wake other guests in the next rooms. We ordered a delicious breakfast which was included in the price each day and it was delivered to our room on time the following morning.
Location wise it was only about 10min walk from Coliseum/Forum and the same distance to the Trevi fountain. Mauro gave us some valuable tips for visiting the Coliseum and the Sistine Chapel, one of the best parts of the holiday was getting to skip a 3 hour queue into the Coliseum! Some people have mentioned a bout noise from the street but we didn't hear much even with the windows open. The hotel is located off the main street but the area seemed very safe with a few shops and restaurants closely.
I would gladly recommend this hotel to anyone, for the price it is very good value, I would agree with some of the comments that it's more of a B&B than a hotel but that's not necessarily a bad thing!

This is pretty much a perfect review! You definitely said everything, in simple words and (most important thing) saying all the truth!!! Thank you so much, as well for the compliments you wrote!!!

The only thing we could just clarify is that all our rooms have double glassed windows and air conditioning and that, being our building one of the oldest, it has very strong walls, so no noises could pass from a room to another!!!

We look forward to meeting you again!

Great value for money in a good location. This hotel is not good on the eye but once inside it is perfectly Ok very clean and comfortable. We walked to pretty much all the main tourist spots including the Vatican from here but be warned Rome is a bit on the hilly side with plenty of steps not easy in the summer heat Mauro offered great advice and we barely had to queue for anything even in peak season. No need to buy any tickets before you go you will be advised what to buy where. The Colosseum & Forum are a 15 minute stroll through streets full of life. Mauro will also recommend restaurant's that serve great food at good prices.

So sorry for your feet!!! Rome in summer could be very tiring!!!!

Thanks for this wonderful review, let us remind everyone that we are in the oldest district of Rome (Monti) and even our building was built in the 15th century. And as we have no sign outside, would be better to get specific directions on our website!

Thanks again and we hope to meet you soon!
