The hostel staff are very friendly, the rooms are clean with nice decor. Felt the decor had more priority than the actual facilities. We were on the first floor in an ensuite room and it wasn't finished. It will have a working kitchen and wi-fi at some point but at the moment you have to go 2 floors up to make a cup of tea or to use wi-fi and the room could do with a bedside light instead of unfinished wiring. Breakfast v basic but enough to keep you going until you get to a coffee shop! Again the staff helpfulness made up for any shortcomings and once the building work has been completed it will be a really good hostel.

The perfect hostel for a single female traveler!! I was in La Controra in Oct'12 while travelling to Rome for 8 days. If you are looking at a hostel which will be homely, bright and friendly but at the same time, give you your complete space and freedom- Look no further!! It's perfectly located in Via Umbria which is 5 minutes by foot from Piazza Republicca- I mean seriously, how much better can it get location-wise?!! The neighbourhood is quiet but hey, if you're looking for action, walk a little towards the Piazza and you're bang in the middle of it! Trevi, Spanish steps, Pantheon and Piazza Navona were all at a walking distance- like wow!!

Spotlessly clean, a simple but wholesome breakfast and bunk beds which were cleaned everyday are some of the things which would make me go there again. I made some awesome new friends in the "mixed dorm" and not even for a moment, felt unsafe. I was thousands of miles away from home but this place does not really make you feel homesick.

I'm delighted with my stay there and would definitely not book any other hostel during my next visit to that magical city- which I hope will be soon enough! :)

I stayed there for four nights in the end of October. The room was really clean, spacious and comfortable. It would have been nice to have a mirror inside the bedroom, though. The staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was ok, and there was no wifi signal on the first floor (where I stayed). But overall, the hostel is really good and I'd definitely go back!

I stayed in this hotel for five nights in November. As a solo female tourist, I was a bit concerned about travelling solo. However, this hostel is in a very safe part of Rome. It is surrounded by goverment buildings, and seems to be quite an exclusive part of Rome. Many hostels are located near Termini station, but this really is quite a dodgy area.
It is located only 5 minutes from Trevi fountain, and other sites are easily walkable from the hostel.
Very clean and friendly.
