We had a very good stay at Casali Papereschi. The apartment buldings are nicely designed and look great, the staff is helpfull (they immediately provided kitchen utensils we wished for), the appartments are clean. The airconditioning is not great but sufficient in combination with a good window-and-shutters-policy. It was a bit of a nuisance to make the couch-bed for our child every evening in the living room but I rate this only a minor discomfort.
The price-quality ratio for these appartments was very good!

Tip for travelling to ancient rome: don't take the often mentioned bus but choose the train on the (also very near) train station for one stop (every few minutes a train leaves in the town's direction). Then use the subway subsequently.

The hotel itself is good, spacious rooms, kitchen, fridge and A/C. Room for 4 people have only one bath!!!
Staff are helpful. Too many gates to move from compartment to another. The big down fall is the location, you have to take a bus for 20 min. to reach old Rome, which is not convenient at all. The last bus ends at midnight, so your evening have to end around 11:00 otherwise you have to take a cab!!!!

Dear guest,

thanking you for the feedback, we would like to clarify a couple of points:

- We have different kinds of apartments. The less expensive solution (the one you booked) is an apartment with one bathroom and one bedroom; but we also have another kind of apartment for 4 people with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, which is slightly more expensive.

- As for the location, we are lucky to be located at a few kilometers distance from the city centre: this may lead to a 10-20 minutes bus ride, depending on traffic conditions. Moreover, we would like to inform you that indeed normal buses run from 5.30 AM to midnight (line 170 every 10 minutes), but after that time night buses are running (line N8 runs every 20 minutes), so a cab is not the only way back home.

Btw, again, we would like to thank you for telling us your opinion, as every review is useful to understand how to improve us and our services.

Greetings from all the members of the staff.

Casali Papareschi is a fantastic Apartment Hotel in the heart of Rome…but there are a few things you should know just to set your expectations. This is one of those hotels that you really want to succeed because you can see how hard they work and we really want to reward them for their vision for this site, which was an old farm that had been forgotten and left in a dilapidated state for 20-50 years! What they did to this place is just phenomenal!

But, there are also a few things that they need to learn about the hotel business. After a long journey, I expect my rooms to be clean and comfortable – comfort would include the temperature. We arrived on a day when it was in the high 30s (90s in Fahrenheit) and none of the AC’s were turned on upon our arrival. As we were on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the rooms were unbearably hot. And although the people in charge of the restoration paid great attention and care to choosing the colors, windows and kitchen furnishings, they were incompetent when it comes to picking HVAC systems. None of the AC’s in any of the rooms were capable of maintaining a temperature lower than 28 (82 in Fahrenheit) – and it didn’t reach that level until the end of our 2nd day.

A note to housekeeping: don’t just lay the new garbage bags on the waste bin. Open them up and place them properly in the bin. What kind of hospitality is that to expect your guests upon arrival after a long journey to bend over and line all the trash bins in the apartment? It seems like a small thing, but there were lots of small things.

We had an apartment that slept 5-6 people, but they had an Italian coffee maker that only made a half cup at a time. There was a tea kettle, but it only made half a liter of hot water – which if you need more for baby bottles, is definitely of limited value.

There are wonderful shutters on the windows, but no curtains. You have two choices, completely dark and private or…open and not private.

Keep in mind that there are public laundry facilities, but not in the room itself.

The best thing about staying here was the apartment itself. It provided the room that we needed as a family to spread out; make ourselves comfortable; prepare our baby’s bottles; etc.
The staff was outstanding. They were very helpful in all areas. They provided great guidance and recommendations. They changed our tea kettle for a larger one. They were very welcoming.

As we had a car, staying here was a big plus. I’m not sure if I would stay here without a car, though. It’s only a 150 meters to Marconi street (plus stairs), but after a full day of tourism on a hot summer day, it can be a bit much. If you have a baby stroller that walk can bit unbearable. In general though, the location was very convenient, only 10 minutes to get to Santa Maria in Trastevere with great restaurants and nightlife.

We would definitely stay here again…but with limited laundry facilities, we’d have to pack enough baby clothes to last us the entire stay. Also, you have to accept the fact that on a hot summer day, you will be hot staying here. It’s truly a shame to be staying in such a nice location, in a nicely designed room at a good value…but in the end, you’ll be sweating and your nights won’t be as comfortable as you’d like while on vacation.

New, modern apartment style accommodations with full kitchen; included LCD TVs in the living room/ktichen area and one of the bedrooms with international cable TV access (hadn't seen/heard much English in our other travels and hotels). Wifi available and worked well. Wonderful staff.
Location is walkable to the Vatican and all of Old Rome. It's also located close to all other transportation needs (bus, train) including a 25 minute ride to Rome's main international airport (FCO).
We stayed in a 2 BR unit which was very, very clean. Only drawback was a single bathroom shared between two couples - but we had no complaints since we knew there was only one bath when we rented the unit.
You won't be disappointed!

Stayed in a one bed apartment and was really impressed. It had everything you could need and was only 5 mins walk to the bus stop into the city and a supermarket. The apartments are very secure and the staff are extremely helpful and speak very good English. Would thoroughly recommend this stay.

We stayed in a two bedroomed apartment which was very spacious, clean, neat and very comfortable. The front office desk staff (Mr. Tommaso and the rest) were very courteous and spoke very good english. The apartments are also located within 3 minutes walking distance to supermarkets and to the metro where you have straight access to the historical center. We will certainly return.
