By eating one at Duecentogradi, that's how! All petered out after visiting the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel? Can't close your mouth from all the oohs and aahs that you exclaimed while in the museums? Well, just walk about five minutes back in the direction of St. Peter's Basilica, cross the street (carefully since there's no traffic light) at the first major intersection, walk into Duecentogradi, goggle at their extensive sandwich menu, grab a seat outside, place your order, have a glass of wine. Crusty fresh and delicious bread stuffed with the best ingredients, terrific service, and excellent prices. This place is a winner. Now if I could only find a way to get one of their sandwiches past airport security. Oh Mamma Mia!

Really nice place serving lovely sandwiches. There's an endless list of options and all ingredients look really fresh. I can't remember the name of the sandwich I had but had brie, mushrooms and some sort of asparagus cream, the bread was really crunchy. The location is perfect for a quick stop while visiting the Vatican and the rest of the city. You can have a drink and a sandwich for less than 7 euros so definitely worth stopping and grabbing one to charge your batteries.

My daughter found this place near the Vatican while studying in Rome. When we visited, it was our first meal in Rome. The bread they use is amazing. They have a huge menu with a lot of nontraditional combinations. The San Giovanni (turkey, boiled egg, lettuce, tuna sauce) sounds like a strange combination, but is delicious. The Augusto Imperatore (Smoked ham, brie, pesto and arugula) is also a great hit, especially since the bread is usually warm and melts the brie a bit. In the end we wound up going there twice.

We had to wait for this place to open as we wanted breakfast but it opened at 11.
We were first in and it was totally worth the wait. Big portions, fresh ingredients and a variety to choose from. It was a bit more expensive eating in but still affordable.
The queues were non stop after we left.
We were all full for the rest of the day!

Took some getting!!, had to fight through a crowd to front of counter, the menu is overwhelming, went for the MONTI (parma ham, motzarella, basil, sundried toms) then you get a ticket with number on and have to wait about 10 mins until they shout you. Well worth the wait, best sandwich I've ever had!! BELLISIMO .........
