Private Tour: Palatine Hill in Rome Including Domus Augustana

I loved the Palatine Hills, it was more than what I expected. I love history so walking through this well-preserved Roman city was a wonderful experience. It takes a few hours so make sure you allocate enough time. The ticket includes the colloseum, so buy this ticket first since the line is a lot shorter and then use your ticket to enter the colloseum, you get to use the fast track. We literally by-passed a huge line and didnt wait at all! Both were breath-taking sites!

This is my favourite attraction in Rome. I took a guided tour which was combined with the Colosseum tour. The Canadian guide who walked us through was an academic expert on the Palatino and told the most colorful stories. You could almost imagine living there and gained a greater understanding of the layers of history in this pivotal area of ancient Rome. We left at sunset and the quality of the light on the ruins made it ever more beautiful.

Bear in mind if you go with a buggy everything is off road, so be patience and enjoy the trip. As others said good guide is necessary otherwise is useless what you see, the guide put everything in context. Sunset panorama seems to be great.

I think you need a guide or a guide book to put it into perspective. Otherwise you are looking at ruins without an understanding of what you might be looking at. It costs 12 Euros per person but that also includes entrance to the forum and the coliseum right next door.
