“A little gem!”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

I was going to wait until after our vacation to write our review, but as luck would have it our train to Venice has wifi so I'm doing it today, after just checking out this morning.

We discovered this B&B on tripadvisor and it was our pick due to the limited space available in Rome for 3 people in 1 room, plus the location and price was good. I've learned from various travel that having a room within walking distance to the sights is ideal and this place really delivered on that this trip. It was muggy and +34C for our two days and boy was it nice to have a quick 15 minute walk back to the room to have cold showers and air conditioning. BTW, the rooms have amazing air conditioning! Our "jr suite" had 2 of them, one in each room and each with remote controls and they were so powerful. they also had a "night time" mode for whisper quiet operation at night.

As others have mentioned, the breakfast was a packaged affair, but the croissants and coffee were very yummy. there was also yogurt, juices and milk in the fridge.

We arrived very early and were accommodated nicely for early check-in. Alberta the hostess met us and was incredibly kind and helpful. As we were getting the orientation on how the kitchen worked, a couple (also from Canada) were just checking out and gave Alberta hugs on the way out. I knew right then we had made the correct choice.

We were given great, and I mean GREAT recommendations for restaurants for dinner. Other practical info for getting around, buses, taxis, etc.. She offered to assist with taxis, but it's just a short walk down the street to the taxi stand by the colosseum so we just did that.

Our daughter reports that the mattress on the fold out bed was comfortable. The master bed mattress was a bit squashed in spots, but wasn't too bad. The bathroom was functional, TV's had hundreds of channels, but none I could find in english. Free high speed Internet though made up for that.

When we buzzed to arrive the first time, we almost didn't hear her over the speaker so listen carefully. Also, she said "come up to 2nd floor" which I guess is an Italian thing, from a Canadian perspective, it was the 3rd floor. So when you get there and go up the first couple steps, you then have 4 sets of 10 stairs each to reach the correct door. Oh, that reminds me, the door is built like a fort knox vault! you will feel very secure when you see how this thing locks. :-) The individual rooms also lock very securely. There are no in room safes, and there is a cleaning lady who comes in every day, but we had no issues or concerns.

They provide soap and shampoo. Electrical outlets are standard european two (round) pin and are plentiful. Bring a simple adapter if you're from North America.

After our initial check-in, we did not see Alberta again, but we did have occasion to call them for something on the 2nd day and they answered and were very helpful.

The street is directly up from the colosseum, about a 15 minute walk. In fact you can see the colosseum from the room and street which made it super easy to get our bearings. There are 2 convenience stores close by that sell fruit, booze, snacks etc... There are also restaurants very close by, but do yourself a favour and take Alberta's advice and walk down a bit further to the one's she recommends. (make reservations! they are VERY popular).

We felt safe walking the street, even at midnight. It's very well lit. There are a few gay bars on the street right next to the colosseum, and you could tell the area catered to that community but if they taxi driver hadn't pointed it out, I probably would never have noticed it. Nothing overt was ever encountered.

The "Rome by Segway" tour location is also right around the corner so if you're planning on doing that, this is another plus as you can walk home after the night-tour. (recommended!)

This is not a 5 star place. No pool. No room service. But you will not be disappointed. It is clean, secure, provides spacious accommodation, great air conditioning, great location and owners who obviously care about your stay being comfortable and enjoyable. I would absolutely stay here again.

Due to the excellent reviews we stayed for three days, and we were absolutely happy with our experience; very clean, recently renovated, very comfortable, excellent location just up the street from the Colosseum, and the hosts were every bit as welcoming and helpful as people had said. We were given detailed advice on what to see, how to get around, and all our questions were met with enthusiastic and thorough answers. We were also given excellent recommendations on where to eat and when, which saved us money while having outstanding food in places the locals frequent. We are enthusiastically recommending Feliz to our family and friends!

Clean, quiet and comfortable. Steps away from the Colleseum and frequent bus stops. Well deserved 5 stars. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you to Alberta for making our last 2 days in Rome happy ones.

2nd time in Rome and had a wonderful stay at Feliz. Very nice accommodation, soundproof and clean, with wonderful hosts. Will stay again. Location is also very central and provides for a very scenic walk for eg to the Spanish steps.

The other excellent reviews are not an exaggeration. We thoroughly enjoyed the two nights we spent here. The location is great, with easy access to all the major attractions. The room we had was super clean, modern, and quite comfortable. The common breakfast area was a nice addition with enough food items to start the day. We took advantage of the car service Frederico was able to arrange for us and that service is highly recommended. Frederico was away when we were there, but his parents were super nice in helping to orient us and helping us plan our stay in Rome. All in all a very positive experience and we would not hesitate to stay there again. One very minor caution: as mentioned in another recent review, there is no sign outside, so be sure you know how to gain access once you arrive. You will not be disappointed with your stay here. It was a welcome change from the usual impersonal setting of most hotels

Room Tip: We had the suite, very nice, the extra space was great

What more can we say? Our stay at Feliz in Roma was everything we could wish for. We were dead beat when we arrived in Rome but we were awed by the modern and sleek room that greeted us upon our arrival at Feliz in Roma! The room was exceptionally clean and each corner was tastefully designed and furnished. The bed was one of the best we had and my boyfriend who usually has problems sleeping in foreign lands fell asleep within minutes!
Room aside, we were impressed with Alberta's helpfulness in providing us with maps and tips on where to go and how to explore Roma like the Romans do. The B&B also has an extensive range of travel guides in the common area and we were free to borrow them as and when we needed them. Location wise, Feliz in Roma was a mere stone throw away from the Colosseum and was near to the metro station as well. This made our navigation around Rome extremely easy. There are also ample cafes (Alberta provided us with awesome recommendations on Italian restaurants around the B&B), minimarts for you to do your usual grocery shopping around the B&B and we were never lacking anything. Overall, we would definitely recommend anyone visiting Rome to stay at Feliz in Roma, it will definitely impress you!

The driver, arranged by Feliz, took us to Via di San Giovanni in Laterano 262, a regular apartment building. No sign for a B & B. One of the second floor apartments had been remodeled into three rooms with a shared kitchen. We were living among regular Romans, not in a hotel - great! Alberta checked us in and gave us lots of information about the area nearby. My left ankle was hurting, and I found a branch on the sidewalk to help me walk. Francesco not only sawed off the ends, but he sanded, groved, stained, and finished it overnight into an elegant walking stick - my best souvenier ever! Gracie mille! John Geib of Florida, USA.

Room Tip: There are two rooms with private bath. The third is a two room suite. All were clean and well appo...
