I spent three glorious days at the Grand Melia. The staff was amazing, the view was perfect. We could walk to the Vatican and St. Peter's square. I loved having my own private garden outside my room. I would definitely recommend.

I would highly recommend this hotel . Everything first class, all friendly helpful staff, close to St. Peter's Square and the Vatican. Could not fault this hotel in any way. Nothing was too much trouble for the reception staff, hotel was spotless and plenty of variety at breakfast.

Room Tip: I don't think they would find a problem where the room was located.

Our Roman holiday was lovely thanks to the excellent service and Gran Melia Rome. From the moment we stepped in Maria and Francesca generously welcomed us to the historic hotel with warm hospitality. Stories of the Vatican, hotel's archeological history, and poolside aperitivo chats soon followed. The concierge and Red Level service's special touches like Champagne, chocolate dipped strawberries and light fragrances made our Anniversary especially romantic. Our suite had a wonderful jacuzzi overlooking the grounds and tip of the cathedral. The deck was large for Roman standards, perfect for room service and relaxing under the stars. We found the breakfast buffet to have a nice selection of juices, salads, fruits, cheeses, sliced meats, breads, cereals, and NUTELLA :) Walking through the gardens, lounging by the pool, enjoying refreshments in the Red level lounge, escaping to the reading room, and taking a stroll to the Vatican were all highlights. After staying at many 5 star hotels in Rome, the Gran Melia is truly an oasis amidst the bustling historic landmarks. It's international atmosphere, deco modern design, unparalleled customer service, and live music drifting through the night air made it memorable and magical. Maria and Francesca's thoughtful ways of meeting our every need did not go unnoticed. We send our gratitude to the Gran Melia staff, especially the Red Level team.

Room Tip: The room with the jacuzzi was the perfect way to wind down and soak after sightseeing on the stone s...

This hotel is a perfect spot for visiting and relaxing in the city of Rome. Although highpriced it is -as many reviewers already mentioned- worth each penny.

Don't expect to be very close to all the places of interest. But the hotel offers a shuttle-service to the old town and for €10.- a taxi bring you to the historic sites as well. Because of the location you can relax (on the lovely pool!) after a long day in the busy and hectic town.

We booked a junior suite, with the so called "red level-premium service". As there were just 2 small windows and wallpaper and curtains quite dark the room was not bright. It wasn't that spacious for a junior suite, but okay for a big city like Rome. There was a Nespresso-machine on the room, one couch and two chairs; in the bathroom we had one washbasin, a marvelous douche, a bathtube and separate restroom.

The service have been excellent every minute of our stay. They succeed to answer our questions before we even asked. The staff had always an open ear for our wishes

We had diner in the gourmet restaurant "Vivacoce" as well as in the pool-restaurant "liquid garden". The quality of the food in both restaurant was outstanding; you shouldn't miss this.
Because of the red level service we had access to the red level lounge with snacks and drinks (even prosecco).
Regarding breakfast, the choice was enormous, but the quality of the food not always on high standard we get used to during our stay (lukewarm scrambled eggs).

We can definitely recommend this hotel, if you are looking for a good and luxury mix for sightseeing city trip and relaxing.

We would definitely recommend the Gran Melia Rome - very well located in a beautiful part of Rome, and it is an absolutely beautiful looking and clean hotel. It's upmarket so everyone is dressed beautifully (still very relaxed though) and it always smells so good! The spa is lovely and the manager there is just delightful. The concierge and the front desk staff are superb also - very obliging and helpful. The pool bar staff can be slow in taking and delivering orders but are still very nice people. The staff at breakfast are wonderful. A lovely breakfast buffet. Great food - you get a nespresso machine in your room. The extras and room service etc are expensive - it's not a budget hotel. But if you are wanting some luxury and georgeous appointments in a hotel in Rome this is a great choice - we would use the Gran Melia chain again based on this experience.

My husband and I visited Rome in September 2013. It was our first trip to the city, and we have to say that the Gran Melia Hotel really made the holiday memorable. The hotel feels like a hidden resort in the middle of the city, right by the Vatican. After a busy day sightseeing, it was great to be able to walk up the hill and relax in an oasis of calm. We were upgraded to a Premium room, and it was spacious, with modern decor. Staff were attentive and efficient. We would definitely recommend.
