“Only Great Location!”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

Hi everyone,
my sister, my mom and I were stayed at Gran Melia in Rome. Nice hotel with a very good location! Its only 5 min. away from Vatican City. The outdoor swimming pool was so nice !
My biggest concern was that the customer service was unfriendly and unprofessional. I asked about spa service they told me "here is the number, call them". By paying 500$ at night I was expecting a lot of better service. Especially, a girl who works at night time had very unfriendly attitude. There was NO red glove special services! Basically, I felt uncomfortable to ask them for something ! We're planning for a trip to Rome with my husband, again. Definitely, we're not staying at Gran Melia Hotel. My family and I wouldn't return to the Gran Melia Hotel!!! Is not worth it!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for reporting your opinions about the recent stay at Gran Meliá Rome Villa Agrippina.

We highly value our guests’ comments in order to constantly improve the level of service we strive to offer.

I wish to express my personal regret for your concerns, especially related to our staff professionalism and attitude, since it is always considered the "added value" and the greatest asset of our property.

We do pride ourselves on our exceptionally high standard of service and we do all work with the daily team purpose of transmitting our "passion for service".
That is why I feel regrettably surprised about your comments, which I provided to share with the Management and the Front Office Department, directly involved.

I feel sorry to hear that your will probably not consider to visit us again in the future and sincerely hope that, on the contrary, you will decide to give us another chance to gain your confidence in our service and live the experience you could not perceive at this occasion.

Please, in this case, consider myself at your disposal for taking care of all the necessary details of your stay.

Last year my husband and I visited Rome and stayed near Villa Borghese Park so this year we decided on a different area. The Gran Melia - Rome for a few reasons #1 away from the tourist side of the river which was nice and still a short walk to everything #2 New and very interesting looking#3 good ratings #4 spa and pool #5 highly rated restaurant.
The hotel itself is beautiful, a renovated nunnery. the grounds are immaculate and the pool is inviting.
We opted for a room with a king bed view of the river side (blocked by buildings), breakfast included but NO red glove special service. I agree with other reviews the rooms are not super big but beautifully decorated and the shower is divine!!!! If you are shy be careful the shower divides the room and you can see into it. There are no drawers for storage but 2 closets which was no big deal. The hotel does not have irons/boards, it seems to be against their policy. The bed was comfortable with very clean bedding.
Breakfast buffet was located on the main floor beside the pool, so you can eat in or out which was nice. 5 days of sunshine in Rome!!!! The buffet was very good, lot's of fresh fruit/yogurt/cereal/lot's of breads/cold cuts/eggs and assorted juices. Lot's to eat, no one should complain.
The service was very good and everyone professional and friendly.
We did eat at the restaurant (fancier one) one evening and although quite expensive, well worth it. The food was delicious and the service outstanding!!!!!
there is also a spa located on the bottom floor and we had a couples massage, very good.
We would return to the Hotel and I rate it 4.8/5.

Room Tip: If you wish to be away from the crowds go here and the Hotel is very close to the Vatican. All room...

Nice hotel in very good location. On the expensive side for what you actually get. Room on 6th floor, facing pool, gardens and Vatican. Rooms are on the small side with no wardrobe or drawer space. A 15" pole sticking out from a wall is all you get . You will have to make do with your suitcases for storage.
Half the room is taken up with bathroom facilities, including tub and shower, but nowhere inside the bathing area to hang towels, clothes, soap or toiletries. Odd layout.
Service was good at reception, concierge, breakfast etc. I don't think I would stay again, Something missing.

Dear Guest,

thank you for reporting your experience at Gran Melia Rome Villa Agrippina.

While glad to learn that you appreciated our service, I am afraid to realize your discontent about the room tou were allocated in, espcially because it seems to have affected your general perception of our Luxury Urban Resort.

Our historical property offers a range of different room categories, according to our Guests' needs and length of each stay.
Since we do take the comfort of our guests very seriously, aiming to turn each stay into pleasant experiences, we do regret to learn that your room was not meeting your expectations.

-The staff were not only accommodating, friendly and professional, but also exceeded our expectations! Our thanks to the entire team during our stay.
-The food and beverages were VERY pricey. Our dinner was DELICIOUS (possibly the best pasta I had in Rome!), but I wouldn't recommend the pricey breakfast. Definitely not worth 28-36 euros for the morning buffet.
-We could hear sirens quite often throughout the day and night. Not sure if there is a hospital or fire station nearby?
-The doors closed very swiftly behind guests. Not a bad thing, but the slamming of doors did wake us a few times. I might add that the window coverings block out all light when closed. We are both early risers, but the first day there, we slept in until 11:00am assuming it was still night time!
-BEAUTIFUL gardens, artwork, and furnishings.
-The pool and pool area is refreshing, beautiful and very relaxing.
-Just a 5 minute walk uphill from the hotel is a beautiful lookout with scenic landscapes/cityscapes of Rome. I recommend taking the walk up Gianicolo to enjoy the view!
My husband and I would both recommend this hotel.

This hotel is about 18 months old. It is five star with five star amenities. The staff are very attentive, multi-lingual and extremely helpful. The rooms are very clean and new, When booking ask for a pool, garden or city view, the ones to the rear have NO view.
The grounds are good, the outdoor pool and surround is first rate. There is a wellness centre with a large outdoor jaccuzzi.
I mentioned that we were celebrating my wife`s birthday when we arrived, Without further prompt on arrival back at the room on her birthday, waiting for us was a small chocolate cake and champagne.
When in Rome you must take walking shoes or trainers as all the sights are within walking distance and there is a lot of walking to be done.
Be careful when stopping for a cappuccino the prices ranged (depending on location) from between e7.50 for two, up to e23.40 for two. There are coffee shops everywhere.

Room Tip: high floor overlooking pool or garden are best.

The best stay we had in our trip around Europe!
Very friendly staff. Great location. Comfortable room.
Excellent service. At check-in we were offered a drink while we waited for our room to be ready.
The only inconvenience we had is that our room was next to a restroom, which the first night was cleaned at 3 am, we had to call reception as it was very noisy.
Apart from that everything was excellent.
I really recommend to stay here, and I hope to stay here again soon!

Stayed here for 4 nights and the Hotel is lovely, feels like you are entering a Spa, all background music, calming colours and scented candles! The room was modern with large shower, only after spending all day sight seeing we did miss a soak in a bath. It is expensive both for food and drink, but then it is a five star. So why only the average rating ? The service from some staff is most deffinately not five star, not many smiles, no polite chit chat and 35 minutes to wait for a bottle of wine to be served by the pool after chasing it up twice is not good enough. Managers in suits parading around and looking important, all in all a little condescending and pretentious, really not sure if we would return. The odd staff member came through as friendly to save the day ! Rome though is stunning!!!!

Room Tip: If you want a bath let them know in advance
