really interesting! We went here on a VIP tour so I'm not sure what the entrance fee is but its worth it. So much to see and so many interesting facts

Its an amazing place, have been before and will always try to come here if I am in Rome. My son loved the place, and especially all the lizards zooming about over the ruins. Just a very beautiful and powerful place. Recommend reading a little about it before you go and making sure your camera has a full battery and lot of memory ;-) Then just allow lots of time to just stroll and enjoy. We spent a whole day walking through the Palatine Hill, Forum and Colosseum. Awesome!

Be prepared to walk a lot. You need to have a comfortable pair of shoes that will take you through the hills and midst all the ruins. The hill offers great view but the one thing that bothered me about the visit was the fact that there was no helpful information around and one has to take the aid of a tour guide or the audio guide to get through the place and understand the things that one is seeing.

This is by far the best historic site in Rome. While the other places offer glimpses into the past, this place is like BEING in the past. Make sure you have an audio tour in your phone when you walk through here, preferably Rick Steeve's and it will be the best time you have in Rome, especially if history fascinates you!! Take out enough time and don't rush - you will need a whole day. Though you can club the colosseum with it! Also, buy the Roma Pass and you can enter the Colosseum and the Forum as ONE destination. The second free one you use on the Pass could be the borghese gallery. These 2 are the most expensive.

As many have already stated, a visit to the Forum is a must. We used our Roma Pass to enter and avoid line ups. It's amazing to walk through the ruins where kings, emperors and noblemen once walked. You'll see temples built to Faustina and Antonius, the cremation spot of Julius Caesar, the home and baths of the vestal virgins whose job it was to keep the flames burning..... a 30 year servitude! Further up Palatine Hill, you will find the ruins of the Imperial Palace and the museum. The purpose of building the palace at the top of the hill was to provide the best views and the views of the city are certainly very impressive. There is a lot of walking involved, so wear comfortable shoes. It can be a very tiring day when combined with the Colosseum, but well worth it!
