You get free admission to the Palatine Hill and Forum areas with your ticket to the Coliseum. It's truly amazing to see all three areas. You have to see it to appreciate it. In fact, all three are that way.

Beautiful walks and gardens, make sure you wear comfy shoes! Unfortunately there is no where to get a cup of coffee (that I could see), you need one as the area is vast ! Fabulous

We had no idea there would be so much here. We knew there would be Roman ruins but had not realised it was such an extensive area, like an inner city park with great views and those wonderful pine trees and olive trees. Some of the ruins are incredibly well preserved and there is so much to see. It's a great place to stroll around in the sunshine, you almost forget you are in the middle of the city. Admission is included when you buy a Colosseum ticket, and you can use it the same day or the following day.

Great guide and very passionate about his subject, perfect English. Organizing staff very welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend this tour, it gave life to places we would have just passed by and take a fast picture otherwise

What an amazing sight, and to imagine it is still standing after so many years. We climbed to the top of Campidoglio and enjoyed the view of the Roman Forum.

A few tips:

Buy your ticket either at the Palatine entrance (down the Via San Gregario from the Colosseum) or from the entrance on the Via Fora Imperialle, NOT from the Colosseum entrance. The lines are shortest at the Palatine. The ticket can then be used to visit the Colosseum.

Bring water. There is no vending inside the site.

You are only allowed one entrance to the Forum/Palatine site with your ticket, so see them both before exiting.

The very best view of the Forum is from the viewing area in the Capitoline Museum. It is in the underground tunnel that connects the two parts of the museum.

Make sure you bring a guidebook, hire a guide, or read about the place ahead of time. Otherwise you REALLY need to use your imagination to understand what the place used to look like at its peak.

This place is huge and has some very nice ruins and garden grounds. There are many areas for very nice pictures at ground level and also perched from above that allow great overview shots with the surrounding city in the backdrop.

You must do this. It’s right by the coliseum and you can go right after. Great for pictures and much walking here. Amazing how old is this place. Go up the hill and you will be amazed by the view. They also have a cooling room that the romans used way back. I really enjoyed this.

Walking through ancient columns and statues, discovering the life of Romans in ancient years in a place where nature plays a leading part.
