not sure why this is number 1 on TA. its definitely a B&B. to be fair the staff were extremely nice and place was very clean. on the downside it was locked up at night with no staff and the walls were thin so could hear banging in the kitchen area at 7am. its nice but not 1 out of 1300 come on people. and way to pricey for what it is as well.

..Dear guest,

-First of all TA is a website that is not rating hotels by star but is ratings hotels guests's satisfaction then, if we are rated #1 is because people is loving to be at Deko Rome and is loving to don't be a tourist as all the others tourists in Rome!!
Our guests are different !!
-Second: before to book an hotel you've to read others reviews and have a look to the hotel's website and then you can easly understand that our property is NOT a luxury hotel but, we are an elegant Boutique Hotel with 6 rooms located on the italian 2nd floor of an historical baroque building of the center in the most exclusive, elegant and safe area in Rome.
We always send an email with the full descriptions of our property and then you can decide if you want to be our guest or easly cancel your reservation with us!
-Third; in this area you can find luxury hotels and bars then, you can understand what are the prices in this area and why!!

Anyway we are sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us but for the next time it's better for you if you read emails, reviews and descriptions about the place you are going to book!!

Best regards from Rome,

Marco Cardillo Piccolino

We stayed at Dekorome during our trip to Rome with a tour group. We chose Dekorome due to others reviews here. We were not dissapointed. We stayed 10-15-17-2011.
We stayed in the suite and the double room and loved both rooms. The decor is beautiful, the breakfast fresh and great. Marco was wonderful and helped us get around Rome and gave us suggestions on places to go in Rome. The reviewer on the "more of a b&b" might be correct, but that is the best thing about this place. It is NOT your typical hotel, if you want that there are plenty of those. That is what separates this place from the same ole thing.
I stay in many hotels; and this by far will always be in our memories. Thank you for the wonderful last 2 days in Italy!

Room Tip: We enjoyed room #3 it over looks the street.

My husband and I stayed four nights in September. Great accommodations and great location. The owners make you feel at home. Take their advice on dining recommendations. They were excellent. We'll stay again next time in Rome for sure.

I'll start with the positives, to be fair: the owners are very nice. They really care that you're enjoying your time at their place and in Rome in general. The style of the rooms themselves is really neat, modern with a twist.

Negatives: This is not a hotel by any means - I wish this was clarified on TA before we booked this place. There is not really any reception or concierge or room service. It's only Marco and Serina, the couple that owns this place. And one of them comes in the morning at 7:30 and leaves in the evening at 8:00. So if you need anything after 8 PM, too bad for you - this includes new towels, clean bed sheets, a snack, any type of room service. And because they only come at 7:30 in the morning and don't have breakfast ready till around 8, if you are an early riser and want to take advantage of your short time in Rome, you can't have breakfast and must either wait for them to come or buy food out. Or you can tell them beforehand and they'll leave something in the fridge in your room for you the night before. But the breakfast is terrible anyway - the croissant was completely stale every morning without fail. It was very annoying. In addition to all this, the elevator is ancient so you probably will be taking the stairs up to Deko, which is not on the first floor of the building, and taking the stairs after walking for an entire day in Rome is exhausting to say the least. And they don't replace your bedsheets everyday like a normal hotel. I know this because the first day we were there, my husband put his feet up on the bed with his shoes still on and they made a scuff on the sheets. And that scuff mark remained there the whole 4 days we stayed in Deko. The building is nondescript, we barely found the hotel (the taxi driver said it didn't exist at first), and staying there was more like a casual stay at a friend's house rather than at some comfortable luxury hotel, which is what we hoped it might be given the price. I mean, come on, this for $300?

So in conclusion, if you are looking for a homey stay, like at a friend's house, then this is the place for you. But if you were hoping to pamper yourself and stay at like a Ritz or heck even a Marriot, it is NOT.

Dear Tripadvisor reviewer,
probably the person who wrote this review has never been our guest!

Anyway I want to remember to all the future our guests that :

-Deko Rome is not a luxury hotel.
-Deko Rome is an elegant Boutique Hotel with 6 rooms located on the italian 2nd floor of an historical baroque building of the center.
-Deko Rome is in the most elegant, exclusive and safe area of Rome (Via Veneto) and is brand new place.

Almost 99% of the people who was here loved Deko Rome and loved to don't be a normal tourist in a big city as Rome!
We make our guest's stay different!
If you want to seem a famous star Deko Rome is not a place for you!
Deko Rome is made of genuine and true people! Here they also were famous actors, artists, writers and football players that know who they are and who were not needing to be treated as star, they were only looking for a great place to stay with true people!!

Have a great day to all of you!!

Staying at the Deko Rome feels like staying at a friend's modern and well-appointed flat. The rooms are good sized, stylishly decorated and have all the expected things of a standard boutique hotel (tv, desk, safe, closet, etc). The room, common area and amenities are not what you would find from a five star such as the Four Seasons but you would be missing out if you made your decision based on that alone. Sure you compromise certain things bigger hotels can offer like a gym, room service, etc but why would anyone bother to workout in a hotel gym when they can walk or run around the city of Rome and why would anyone ever eat food served by a hotel line chef when you have hundreds of amazing places right outside your door? What sets this place apart from all other options in Rome aside from the value are the hotel's owners, Marco and Serena. In a nutshell, this young and attractive couple understand what travelers want and fill a major void in the hospitality industry today - value accommodations with a personal touch.

Serena checked us in with a beautiful smile and a warm and friendly demeanor. She proceeded to spend 45 minutes pointing out all the city's attractions, restaurants, stores and anything else we were interested in using a handy city map while Marco served us refreshing cocktails from the bar. In all my travels, no concierge has ever been more spot on with their restaurant and shopping recommendations than Marco and Serena. Every place we visited based on their recommendations were truly great. Not only did Marco and Serena book our reservations, they had their waiter friends take care of us when we got to the restaurant.

I would highly recommend the Deko Rome to anyone looking for a great value and experience.

Notes:
The hotel serves a generous portioned breakfast in the mornings served by Marco and Serena. Morning conversations are also a fun time as you plan the exciting day ahead.
The hotel is near the popular Via Veneto, Villa Borghese, Spanish Steps, the Westin hotel, the US Consulate and the local police station. Taxi rides to most areas in the city are about 10 euro but walking + metro are also convenient.
