Castroni have opened a new branch at Via Frattina 79. This is just off the Corsa between the Condotti and Piazza Venezia. It is small but still manages to cram an awful lot in. As always with Castroni worth a visit

Must-see for food lovers! Check out all the pots, cans, bags, sweets and drink a caffe in here. Since we were already buying too much we didn't buy anything here (I hate weight limits when flying!), but you will want to take everything you like.

The only serious place with a wide selection of foods from around the world available in Rome. From packed to canned food, from soya milk to wines and liquers, from pasta to Chinese food. You name it and it's probably there. No easy parking available in surroundings.

Oh my! What an incredible store as you first walk into its wall-to-wall offerings of chocolates, pastries, pasta, marmalades, sauces, coffees, even to Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice (yes,USA items, pancakes, syrup, peanut butter!) The biggest store is this one in zone of "Prati." But a new smaller store just opened in heart of Rome, on Via Frattina..

The main store on Cola di Rienzo wraps around a whole corner block, which includes hot food items on display.... YUM, ... with Italians eating their "tavola calda" items during the day, which are incredibly tasty, aromatic, delicious. There is a frenzy of customers purchasing food, "take away," as they call it. It is a sight for the eyes and all your senses of smell, taste, hearing are enhanced!

You can browse the isles for hours, finding anything you can think of to eat, drink, prepare, or simply enjoy a caffe macchiato while shopping! A must see, a must for purchasing items you want to take back to hotel, or apartment! Very chic, very trendy, very fresh, and everything is of the utmost quality!

Enjoy the journey into one of Rome's best "supermarkets!"
