“Getting the most from Rome”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Last week we stayed at the Kolbe Hotel in the centre of Ancient Rome. It was a classic case of "location, location, location" mixed with a delightful stay due to the staff and the immediate neighbourhood. We were a 10 to 20 minute walk to almost anywhere in Ancient Rome. The staff were fluent in many languages and most helpful and accommodating. The room was clean and modern with a large window that opened unto a delightful garden. We were awakened by the birds every morning despite its location in the city. The mattress was hard but we obtained extra pillows to compensate. The breakfast was excellent and weather permitting could be eaten outside in the garden. The bars and restaurants around the corner on either side of the hotel added to the experience as did the local weekend market. We even discovered the local "deli".

Room Tip: We loved the bar to the right of the hotel "Anima Mundi" (next to the Roman arch) and the...

The facilities, staff, location, and restaurant were all fantastic. The room had a perfect view of the forum, and was close to nearly everywhere we wanted to visit.
Via di Teodoro can be very loud at night, especially on weekends. If you like your window open at night, be prepared to deal with very loud, drunk kids congregating outside your window.only downside IMO.

What a lovely, well-situated hotel close to the Forum and the Colosseum and within walking distance of the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and the Panthenon. The Vatican is a 30 minute riverside walk away.

The hotel itself is very welcoming, quiet and relaxing. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant and offered good advice when asked. A special mention must go to Alessio and Maurizio in the restaurant/bar who made the evenings special. They were so friendly and courteous - a credit to the hotel.

The room itself was spotless and well equipped. Our room had French doors into the enclosed gardens which was very pleasant.

We had a great time and would definitely return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 114 was very quiet and looked out onto the garden at the back of the hotel.

The hotel is very well located for all the main sights but in particular for the Colosseum, Forum and Piazza Venezia. The Metro station is about 10/15 mins away. Frequent buses round the corner will save your legs if you get tired. Stayed with friends for 2 nights so saw 2 different room types. Rooms at the front (reasonably quiet street) offer a Forum view, ask for an upper floor to get better views. Garden facing rooms are reputedly quieter however when we stayed noisy deliveries were made at 6am!
The hotel is impeccably clean and the rooms offer all the usual amenities (incl slippers). The dining room is fresh and very comfortable. Breakfast is relaxed and offers a reasonable selection. The hotel is excellent value. Would certainly stay here again.

Situated on the side of the Palatine Hill, this boutique hotel is within walking distance of Rome city centre, the Vatican and all the major attractions. And yet it is in a quiet street with gardens that provide a quiet retreat to recover from the day's exploration. The hotel is finished to a high standard, exceptional cleanliness and very friendly staff who seem to speak every language. The room was large, with a seating area as well as a bed, the bathroom was modern with a shower to die for. Breakfast was varied and ample. And above all its location enabled us to explore everything on foot. We will certainly be visiting Rome again in the future and we would choose to stay here again.

This hotel is right beside the Roman Forum. It is hard to find more history than this. Around the corner are old gates and in the corner of the courtyard is an eight century church. The hotel is a converted convant and has been very tastefully done.

Room Tip: I recommend the court yard view. It its nice to have some green in the centre of Rome! Also the fa...

I just returned from 3 nights at the Kolbe Hotel Rome. We stayed in a family room. It was clean and spacious. Bathroom modern but it did have a bit of a smell. My main dislike is the wifi service. It was very manual as you need to get a login from the front desk and one for each device! The food in the restaurant at night was very good, better than average so do eat there. Breakfast also very good. Yes the atmosphere in restaurant is not as great as eating out. Overall a very good 3 star hotel in a great location. I would return. Good value for money.
