We stayed in Rome for 5 days and really enjoyed our stay at David's B&B Zen Trastevere. David himself is absolutely nice and helpful. Every morning he serves the breakfast at your room which you choose the evening before. You can always choose 2 drinks (hot and cold) and 2 kinds of food (e.g. scrambled eggs, toasts with jam or fesh fruits, etc.). Overall, the breakfast was always tasty and sufficient but if you expect a big breakfast (which will be hard to find in Italy anyways) you will be disappointed (or have to go to a expensive hotel).
The B&B has 3 lovely rooms, one with a private bathroom (the black&white). Every room looks totally different from the others and all are very lovely decorated. We stayed 3 nights at the B&W room with private bathroom which was perfect. The 2 other nights we stayed in the - also very nice - purple room and shared the bathroom with another couple. All in all, this was no problem but the shared bathroom is quite small and maybe needs some repair work here and there. But overall, if you want to have a very lovely and affordable solution, then also the shared rooms are abolutely fine (and they have nice, little balconies which the B&W-room does not have!!).
One thing which could be improved are the mattresses of the beds which we found quite hard and not extremely comfortable. But we are used to more soft ones. So if you don't mind this will not disturb you.
The area of Trastevere itself we found really great and lively (which does NOT mean to load or stressful). There are lots of beautiful little streets, everywhere are restaurants (but not all of them serve good food, you have to look for the not so touristic ones), bars and small shops. You can walk to most of Rome's attractions, and if you don't want to walk the tram is right in front of the B&B.
Overall, a great stay in Rome although we had some rain every day. And if you decide to stay at Trastevere, David's B&B is absolutely recommendable!!!!

Ciao Melanie!
Thanks for your review.
I'm not sure which mattress you found bit hard, but for sure the Mattress in the B&W room will be changed ASAP, also The Share bathroom will be going under a complete renovation in January.
Always trying to improve.
Thanks again.
take care.
Davide.

My partner and I stayed in the violet bedroom. It was a spacious room with a nice balcony and table & chairs. We ate our breakfast cooked and served on the balcony by Davide. There was a range of breakfast options including cooked or continental.

Davide was a lovely host and made us feel very welcome in his home! The accommodation was very quiet and in a great location. It was 15 to 20 minutes walk to all the main sites. And Trastevere was a quaint little area with some lovely Roman Restaurants and Cafes out of the hustle and bustle of the main tourist centre.

Davide spoke perfect English, was more than happy to share his knowledge of Rome and we couldn't recommend this Bed and Breakfast enough. A+++

Room Tip: All the rooms in his B&B looked as good as each other! We loved the Violet Room with the balcony...

We loved staying at Zen Trastevere and having Davide as our host. We stayed in the Black and White room which had an attached private bathroom. The room was spotless and exactly as pictured in the photos here and on his website. It's light and airy with a big window and the air conditioning works great. The fast wifi was also much appreciated. Breakfast was served in the room and was delicious every morning. Davide also provided some great recommendations for nearby restaurants.

The B&B is in a residential building next to a grocery store (look for signs for Billa, you have to walk inside the Oviesse clothing store to get to the stairs for it) so it was really convenient to get snacks and drinks. We were given keys to the building and B&B front door, so we could come and go as we pleased. The neighborhood Trastevere is also great and felt safe at night. Not only were some less touristy restaurants nearby, but it was convenient for getting to Vatican City, Colosseum and all of the main sights of Rome since the #8 tram stop was steps outside of your door.

It's really nice apartment with good location, easy to get everywhere. Tasty breakfast with gooood coffee and with really nice service of the owner. If you wont to feel real Italian atmosphere then definitely recommend.

We arrived at Zen Trastevere directly from the airport and it was an oasis! I was travelling with a friend and we stayed in the Black & White room which was beautiful, VERY spacious and had an attached private bathroom. Davide was a warm and hospitaable host providing info on the neighborhood and best restaurants. In the morning jetlag woke us up really early so we decided to venture on foot to the Colisseum---surprisingly its only about a 20 minute walk! And even though we got back at the very end of the breakfast hours, Davide still prepared our food and delivered it to our room (you get to chose from a list of options the nigth before!) Although The B&B isn't in the best neighborhood (and not the worst either!) its still plenty safe and in the middle of many tourist sites. Just a note if you're coming via public transportation--the tram to the B&B can be caught on the street outside the train station--walk beyond the circle where all the busses are parked---and onto the main street--you'll see the tram in the middle of the street and can catch it there. Also if you have heavy luggage there's an elevator in the building---use the ramp vs. the stairs when entering from the street and then take the lift to the B&B (don't make my mistake and try lugging your luggage only to fall down the marble staircase right on my rear end! lolol) I highly recommend this B&B if you're looking to stay in the Travestere area of Rome!!!

If your are going to Rome and wonder about where the best area to stay is - the answer is: Trestevere - in the area between Tibern, Viale Trastevere and Via Garibaldi. Here you will find all the restaurants and bars you need located in small adorable streets offering good food at affortable prices.
A really good pick for accommodation here would be B&B Zen Trastereve. There are 3 rooms: 'Red' and 'Purple' room have a balcony, but share a bathroom, the 'Black & White' room have it's own bathroom, but no balcony. We stayed in the 'Red Room' - a nicely decorated room, clear, with good space, own fridge, Wi-fi and a lovely balcony (when the restauration is finish). The breakfast is served at your room, and there are different thinks you can chose between, and enough to make you full. The bathroom is shared with the 'Purple Room' but that works fine.
The owner Davide is a friendly and helpfull guy which completes the total experience - the place is definitely worth recommending!

Very cosy, clean and stylish rooms with a balcony! Nice breakfest choice in the room. Davide is a very friendly a pleasant host who takes the time to give the best tips in the neigbourhood and in the city. The neighbourhood is walking distance from Tibera in a very lively and bohemian part of Rome. We enjoyed a great long weekend in Rome at this fantastic B&B. Definitielly recommended!
