“next to the Vatican city”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

We stayed there for 6 nights. Our aim was to visit St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums therefore this hotel had a wonderful position. All of these places and many more are very close to the hotel: Navona square, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Poppolo and we also went on foot to Villa Borghese.
From Fiumicino airport we got SITbus to Vatican. Buses stop next to the Piazza Cavour (very close to the hotel).
WiFi in our room was free and worked well.
Our only issue was that the walls of all the rooms were really thin so you should consider that when you book a room. (We basically heard our neighbours snoring).
Breakfast was good but nothing special.

Hotel located very centrally, walking distance to all main tourist attractions and piazzas. Reception staff very friendly and spoke good English, helpful in booking restaurant and confirming to us by phone. Room was good sized, with large comfortable bed and very clean en-suite shower, which was thoroughly cleaned and given fresh towels daily. Large screen TV, with hundreds of channels, but NO English speaking. Lift from street level to all levels, but very cramped. Breakfast was very good, with plenty to choose from in buffet, eggs, ham, cheese, cereals, buns, fruit.

What a gem. This is a lovely place to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good with plenty of choice and well stocked. It is close to the sit shuttle bus to and from the airport and within walking distance of all the attractions. The receptionist gave plenty of information and recommends for eating and sightseeing.
The room was very comfortable, nicely furnished and very clean.
All in all it is a lovely small and inexpensive hotel by Rome standards.

This hotel wasnt the best of hotel during my trip to europe but certainly not the worst either. The plus points were:
Great breakfast with curds, pastries, fresh fruit, eggs and milk and all kinds of drinks.
Not that expensive
Good location that it is walkable to piazza Navona and allied place...you can also take a bus right at teh corner from Piazza caviour 87 which takes you directly to the Colloseum. the buses are cheap with 1.2 euro cost.
small lift
kettle in the room

Negatives:
beds were small and the staff at night was not that courteous
The rooms are on teh first floor so is the lobby. so u have to either carry your luggage or if u can fit it in the small size lift.
a little warn out.

The hotel has a very good location, and they have very good and comfortable rooms in the main buliding.
There was very cold in the corridors, and in the restaurant but the rooms were ok.
The breakfast was very good, thank you for the fantastic coffes in the morning :)
Unfortunatelly we left some stuff (gift for parents) in the hotel and now the employees of the reception are not friendly and helpful. They told us a very high price to send it BUT we want it with post not with delivery company. and they just told it is not possible...sorry but it is only 5 paper. so please send it to us with post.

Room Tip: in the main building

stayed at hotel sant angelo over valentines day. was very cheap 44 euros per night for two people. 300 yards from the vatican. 200 yards from the palace. 20 minute walk to trevi fountain and spanish steps and 35 minute walk to the palace and colloseum. couldnt have asked for more out of a hotel in rome. the front desk lady was very helpful made the stay so much better gave us a map when we checked in and circled all the best restaurants around rome for different cuisines. best attractions excluding the main ones.
the room was big enough plenty of room the bathroom was huge and clean everyday. the bed was comfortable and extra blankets and pillows was a bonus.
we stayed in the annex 50 yards up the road. air con worked fine. didnt have any problems apart from the last night the hot water didnt work. but that didnt really matter as it was the last day so we washed with warm water.
not sure what people expect from a hotel that is priced below average for rome. if you want luxury then you will have to pay for it. for us it was perfect great base to see the whole of rome. all we needed was a clean comfortable bed. the whole point in coming to rome is to be out and about all day exploring. so if you want a great clean comfortable base to explore rome i would 100% recommend this hotel

I stayed here with my 15yr old daughter for 4 nights sightseeing.

Good points - comfortable beds, room was well serviced and clean. Quiet. Wifi. Lift. Helpful staff, all spoke impeccable English and all requests (extra milk, pillows etc) dealt with promptly and cheerfully. No English TV. Excellent location for walking and bus, most sites within easy 15mins walk. Excellent dining options very close by. We used Splendor Parthenopes twice as it was so good, brilliant atmosphere and easy on the eye waiters. Pizza with salt cod and the Merlot are my recommendations, pizza with bacon and squash is the daughter's. T- bone Station has fantastic ribs and Vito's was good value.

Not so good points - very small shower but rest of bathroom clean and neat. Lounge unheated so unusable during our stay. Actually this is a small alcove on the stairwell, there is a small sofa in reception and chairs by the PC on the 2nd floor but not places where you'd want to sit and read a book. No English TV.

Conclusion - all in all the good points far outweigh the not so good.
