“Perfect Apartment in Heart of Rome”
Reviewed April 20, 2010

We stayed in both the Apartment A on arrival in Rome, and in the hotel itself for a single night on our way back out of Italy. The Apartment is nothing short of perfect for a family group. We travel as two adults and two kids aged 10 and 5, so getting reasonably priced accommodation that suits us is very hard, but the Apartment was fantastic.

It has such a spacious and homey feel about, but is still very modern and stylish in its interior. The apartment is immaculately maintained, and looks like it is almost brand new. There was loads of space for us and the kids, and the manager both organised very economical transport from the airport (after a 6am arrival) and met us at the apartment. Breakfast is served at the hotel, which is about 25m around the corner (and very convenient, despite what other reviewers might have written).

Best of all, the location is in the heart of the best part of Rome, with a number of lovely restaurants nearby, and the major train station for Rome only a 10 minute stroll up the road. We caught the train to Naples, and it was an easy walk even with luggage and children in tow. The main stop for the open top bus services is only a 5 minute walk away, and was our main means of transport for all our Roman sightseeing. There is also a supermarket 50m down the road, which allowed us to do a bit of self catering to suit the specific tastes of our kids, as well as stock up on local Chianti!

We had a family (quadruple) room for one night on the way out, which had a queen and two single bed, which was adequate for us. After having stayed in the apartment the quad room was a little cramped, but it was certainly well maintained, clean and suitable. Both mangers were perfect gentlemen, who greeted us with a smile every time we saw them, and made us feel very much at ease and comfortable.

All in all the Hotel Cortina, and especially the Apartment A, made our stay in Rome nothing short of perfect, and was a wonderful way to begin our Italian adventure!

There are four of us so we took the option to stay in an apartment a short walk from the hotel & to breakfast at the hotel. The apartment was spacious and very comfortable. Florian greeted us at the apartment block after arranging transport from the airport. He took time to advise us on sightseeing & restaurants. The service when we went to the hotel for breakfast was also first class. All the sights we visited were within walking distance of the hotel although we did use the nearby metro one way for a couple of visits.

The staff of this hotel is absolutely wonderful. They are friendly, the location is great, quaint breakfast room. Comfortable beds, we had a room on the street which proved a little noisy at night but we also had the window and shutters open. this is a comfortable and nice place to stay.

- Price: After extensive searching, this price was the best by far.
- Room and Bath: Large for European standards. Clean. Quiet. Heat and AC worked well. Shower water temps varied a bit - the only negative - but not unlivable while on holiday.
- Service: Everyone was nice and helpful. Angelo is exceptional! Personalized service.
- Breakfast: Small, quiet room with just enough food and variety to start the day.
- Location: I love walking, so the walk to all sites was perfect for me; for example, 1 mile to Colleso, 6/10 mile to Trevi, and 1 mile to the Pantheon. My traveling friend wanted shorter walks. But, being here, is quiet and calm, away from the heavy tourist areas, and that is a plus. And you see more when you walk! Multo bueno!

Short walk from Termini, out the main door a little to the left and up to Republica and make a left on Via National , 5 - 10 mins walk. There is also a Metro stop at Republica and a bus stop almost right in front of the hotel. The staff was very helpful. The only negative was the tendency of the water temperature to fluctuate during a shower.

We had booked a 3 bedded room - Grandparents and 12 year old boy, but Angelo emailed us to offer an apartment for just a little extra, and the photos sold it to us. We were not disappointed. Modern. very well appointed apartment and as the weather was not great while we were there it was ideal for us to come back and have a hot drink etc. Could have cooked a meal if we had wished. Probably 50% more space than we would get in a hotel room. The entrance to the hotel reception is on the first floor of the building (seems a lot are like that in Rome), and the entrance to our apartment was down a side street into the same building. Walking distance of the station, supermarkets and all levels of restaurants, yet no noise to disturb us. I have no hesitation in recommending the Apartment

We reserved a room at Hotel Corina as it was recommended by several people on Rick Steves' helpline. It was clean and quiet. We could walk to the hotel from the rail station and we were welcomed warmly. The concierge was wonderful and spoke excellent English. When we arrived, we were shown to our room which was small but all that we needed as we only slept there. The concierge gave us a map of the city and helped us get our bearings before we headed out. On our second night there, we asked for a recommendation for a "local" restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal in a small intimate restaurant. We were given a discount because we mentioned the hotel. The concierge ordered a car to take us to the airport as this was our last day in Italy and the car arrived on time and the driver couldn't have been friendlier. We will return to this hotel next time we visit Rome.
