“4 nights in Rome”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

Only because the hotel is very close to almost everything in Rome (metro, Tremini Train Station, the old city, good restaurants) we gave it the score of 3. although the staff is very friendly and helpful, the room wasn't worth it's price: you can hear every conversation the other visitors make in the hallway and the breakfast was unsatisfying, even for an Italian simple breakfast.

Room Tip: If you decide to choose the hotel, ask for the farthest room from the hotel lobby.

Dear Moshe Sam Benjamin,

We do take all comments seriously and appreciate all the feedbacks we receive from our valuable guests.

I am sorry that we failed to leave you with a positive impression and sensation at the end of your journey.

We did make a little research and we did find out that during your 04 nights stay you did stay inside the room 20 hours per day. It might be that during youir 20 hours inside the room on day time some guest did talk a little loud that you could listen inside the room. Please accept our apologise about that.

We are also sorry about the breakfast but sometime we could have problems with arabs and israeli about our three kinds of cold cut that are derived of porks ( Mortadella, Salami and Ham ). For the rest we have three kinds of cheese, differents cereals, croissants, three kinds of cake, yougurt, mkilk, fruit juices, fresh fruits, two kiinds of bread, butter jam and as mentioned three kinds of cold cuts. Italians for breakfast do eat just a croisant and a cappuccino so said that our breakfast was less than an italian one is just an easy sarcasm.
Anyway thanks for your kind stay and wish you a good luck.

My friend and I stayed here in march 2013. Hotel Cortina is on one floor like most of the hotels in Rome, it was very deceiving when going in the big front door and up the old style lift. But we got a lovely surprise and are glad we stayed there. The staff were extremely helpful about everything. Even giving us a map which was so accurate as to where we wanted to go. The rooms were spotless and I would highly recommend this hotel to stay in. It was a hidden gem.

We were looking for a nice hotel within an easy walk to the Termini train station and near a Metro stop. Our last visit we stayed across the street at the Hotel Miami. Hotel Cortina's room rate was lower for our three night stay, and the reviews were good, so we stayed here. The rooms are nice. The staff is terrific. On their recommendation, we ate at two little nearby places that we would never have found by ourselves. The food was astonishingly good and the ambience wonderful.

On our second day, one of the folks in our little group needed to ice a knee. The staff person went to the Irish bar on the ground floor and brought back a big plastic bag of ice What a nice thing to do! During one early evening when we had an hour or so until dinner, the breakfast room was opened so that I could have a quiet place for a bit of writing.

I might have given a higher rating, except for the late evening/early morning street noise. My wife never heard any of it, but I'm a lighter sleeper. Our traveling companions (whose room faced an inside courtyard) had no noise issues.

If you are using the train system to get around Italy and want a hotel convenient to Metro and bus transportation, this hotel is in a great area for you. And a transportation suggestion: When you get to the Termini station, buy a RomaPass at one of the "Tabacchi" shops. We saved a TON of money on the Metro and used the pass to avoid the long lines at the Coliseum.

We did a lot of research before choosing this hotel for 5 nights as it seemed to have the most consistent positive reviews. We were not disappointed. It is a little hidden but Google maps will steer you there safely, 15 minutes crowd dodging from the termini station. The road it's on is v. busy, however the room we had ( no. 6) looked over a little interior court. Whilst the view wasn't the best there was plenty of natural daylight and better still, hardly any road noise so a great nights sleep was had on the comfiest king sized bed. The room was spotless, a good size for rome, well equipped bathroom with a good shower, plentiful towels, hairdryer, shaving point and complimentary toiletries. There was a fridge with mini bar which we used to keep water & wine cool, and the efficient air con & room safe were free. Basically everything worked as it should.
Breakfasts were typically continental and help yourself with fresh croissants, rolls, Pastries, fruit, ham, cheeses and cereals. Tea and coffee were plentiful and made to order. Cappuccino was very good.
Without exception all the staff were friendly and helpful, with great recommendations for places to eat (antica boheme, thank you Gianni) and tips for skipping queues. They also printed off our Vatican museum tickets when we booked them last minute. The finishing touch was a lovely complimentary bottle of fizz for my husbands birthday. We had a wonderful time in Rome, and this hotel was perfect for us. Highly recommended and we would stay here again.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2014

My wife and I stayed here for 8 days after reading reviews on tripadvisor.

First the good things:
1. It's a 3 star hotel but in terms of service and quality it's a 5 star.
2. Very professional and friendly staff
3. The breakfasts were excellent.
4. Personal service and advice on what to see and do and where to eat.
5. They offer a private transfer at 55 euro to/from Rome Fiumicino Airport
6. We were directly above the Irish Pub and, even when a rugby match was being shown on their satellite TV on a Saturday night, we heard no noise at all thanks to the double-glazed windows. The Irish Pub was a great place for a beer or glass of wine after a hard day of sightseeing.

Although we had been offered a pickup from Rome Fiumicino Airport - at 55euro for 2 people I thought the cost was a little steep as you can pick up a taxi to/from the airport for 48euro as a fixed charge. Still the offer was there and if I were traveling with a group of 4 or more I would have accepted.

The not so good things:
We arrived at the hotel at about 10am. The entry and front desk is one floor up from the ground floor. My wife and our luggage went up in the small elevator while I took the stairs. The elevator is very small. However we only used it to bring our luggage to the hotel on check-in and to take our luggage from the hotel on check-out.

We left our bags at the front desk to do some sightseeing as our room, not unexpectedly, was not ready. I was a little concerned that they did not have a separate cloak room to put our luggage. On our return we were shown to our room which overlooked Via Nazionale. What I didn't realize at the time was that the books that we had just purchased and left when we went sightseeing ended up on the book exchange shelf in the hotel lobby. By the time we discovered this one of the four books had already been taken by another guest. That was a disappointment.

The room (No. 14) was a little bit quirky as it had a landing inside the entry door where you could turn left into the bathroom or proceed straight ahead down a step to the main part of the room. Moments after we had settled in, my wife came out of the bathroom and fell down the step injuring herself. You just don't expect to find a step in the middle of your bedroom.

Despite those minor setbacks I'd happily stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: I don't know if there are rooms without a step - but I'll certainly be asking for one next t...

My wife and i spent a week in this hotel in a double room. The staff were excellent throughout our time there. They also arranged taxis from and to the airport which turned out to be an excellent service. The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of rome where you can visit all the attractions you wish to see. There were plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance, including one or two irish bars for the thirsty traveller. All in all a great holiday with great weather and i would congratulate yet again the staff in the hotel for there kindness and superb service.

Room Tip: Any room would suffice.

We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment and couldn't have asked for more. Plenty of room for family of 4. Supermarket nearby, an Irish pub and gelateria downstairs, great shopping, near enough to the local sites. We walked everywhere or took the nearby metro stop. Linens nice, kitchen well stocked with necessary dishes and cookware, wifi, essential english channels on the tv, looks newly renovated with nice appointments. One room (two twins) with a shower and the other (king bed) with a bath. Staff was also helpful making restaurant reservations and with ordering taxi. They contacted us to offer pickup from hotel and wished we had done so (had a horrible taxi experience upon arrival). Only con is the elevator is quite small and requires a key so we had to make multiple trips.

However, we are a well-traveled family and rank the apartment high on our list. Will definitely make a return stay when un Rime. Husband checked out the regular hotel rooms for friends and said they're much smaller but equally nice.
