“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012 via mobile

This restaurant is in an ideal location to enjoy the atmosphere of campo di fiori! We got an outside table here and there were people plying music in the square in front of us. There's a good menu selection and daily specials available. The staff were fine, if a bit run off their feet by the time we were finishing. We had a starter each and a pasta main each and shared a bottle of wine and it was under €50, the food was good. Not the best we've had in Rome but the location adds to it.

“Bad food nice wine”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

After having just visited this wine bar that dose food I won't be back again. The starter advertised as cheese and meats was mostly oily tempura veg and low grade cheeses. The carbonara was made with parmesan the was do salty it destroyed my taste buds. The did not respond to the my complaint in any reasonable way. Do not visit just awful food.

“such an utter disappointment - losing trust in these reviews”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

Hands down the most disappointing meal in Italy over the course of two weeks. Ever heard of the Olive Garden? Mercato is worse!

We started with a Nasone salad - fine - nothing to write home about.

For our main course, my Husband ordered the Chef Suggested "Lagane Al Funghi" and I ordered the Gnocchi. His pasta was so absolutely terrible that neither of us could take more than two bites. The pasta tasted like dry rubber and the mushrooms had no flavor whatsoever - it reminded me of middle school cafeteria slop - except this pasta was priced at $16 euro!

My gnocchi wasn't as bad as my Husband's meal, but could easily have come out of a Chef Boyardee can. We have noticed that restaurants in larger squares around Italy tend to have incredibly overpriced, very mediocre food. We had a feeling this might be another tourist trap, but gave in anyway. Such a bad decision.

After 15 minutes of pleading with the staff to take the mushroom pasta off our bill, they finally consented. I hope one of them gave it a try themselves.

“Great little every-day breakfast, lunch & dinner spot.”

Espresso, cappuccino, breakfast pastries, and pizza (great crust!), freshest salads, good wine & beer choices, friendly service. All this and a robust atmosphere of the Campo de Fiori marketplace 5 meters away.

“Nice change from Disneyland style Italian restaurants.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

You won't find ham bones hanging on wood beamed ceilings here. My husband and I have been in Italy two and and a half weeks using fodors, frommers, etc to find restaurants not finding any real gems, just boring lackluster food. Don't have high expectations here, but expect good drinks, fresh food, and decent service. My salad was served on a warm plate, effectively cooking it, but they brought out a new fresh one with a smile. Pizza was done perfectly. We picked this place because it was it was in campo de fiore and looked crowded. Also it has a younger, hip crowd. If you eat at spots with chalkboard menus at home, chances are you'll have a nice experience here.
