“Old hotel, good location, poor attitude”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

It is a classy hotel and you can imagine by yourself it must be famous when it was built. The big waiting room next to reception should be a grand hall at 19th century. It was old hotel and renovated sometime ago. My room is quite new but another my family has is relatively old and the renovation is like making more than 20 years ago. So you have to manage your expectation.

The hotel claims they have a safe. Yes, they do but doesn't mean it works. You have to borrow the key from the front desk and the key is easy to make a new pair on the street so I suggest you to leave your diamond at home. The biggest problem is my brother's room have the safe but the hotel doesn't have the key (likely it was lost sometime ago). The hotel suggests my brother uses my room's safe because we are one family (luckily).

According to the note left on the room, they will not provide boiler for making hot water. Like other hotel, you can go to the bar to get some hot water, but not like other hotels, they don't provide a pot. That means, if you should have your own pot, who would?

Shower: big problem. The temperature was set max lower than 23 degree at the first day and they fixed it next day, and the temp went to like 38 degree, the third day becomes normal.

I have to say the location is great and you couldn't beat.

The staffs at the front desk are not very helpful but junior staffs (helpers) they are good.

The bed is too soft.

We stayed here 3 nights. The hotel is walking distance from the Termini Station. Very easy to get to and find. It is a huge hotel that is charming, well maintained and the design & decor is well thought out.

We got off to a bad start when we were unable to check into our room at the time specified (2.30pm) however we were given complimentary drinks at the Hotel bar. The delay was about 90 minutes. When we arrived into our room we were impressed with the size of room and how clean it was. The bathroom was spacious and immaculate.

However we had to complain about one of the beds (twin room) as the springs were broken and the bed dipped. The staff were good however and sorted this out pretty quickly.

The bed was firm and comfortable but the pillows were extremely hard, like rocks. I found it hard to get to sleep but my husband had no such problems.

Breakfast was very nice, a good choice of coffees and a few packet teas , no hot chocolate sadly. The hot breakfast consisted of 2 types of scrambled egg and sausage. Bread was available for toasting. There was a choice of cereals, tinned and fresh fruit. Sliced cheese and hams selection. A variety of yoghurts and cakes and pastries and rolls.

Breakfast could be taken inside or out in the lovely garden area.

The garden area served drinks including alcoholic drinks that were accompanied by crisps and nuts. There was an ice cream counter serving delicious gelatos. There was also a good lunch and dinner menu.

Location wise the hotel is on the via nazionale which is quite a busy road. The nearest metro station is Repubblica and it is very cheap to use the Metro system.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain (about 20 minutes) and the Spanish Steps and the Colosseum (30 mins) however if you want to take the Metro it is very easy to use and a short train ride away to the tourist spots.

The Vatican is about 6 stops from Termini (take the metro from Termini or from Repubblica (one stop and change at Termini)

All in all we were very happy with our stay and our room, we also loved the spacious communal areas. The air con was set at a comfortable temperature throughout the hotel.

This hotel has free Wi-FI

Although in the city center the rooms (2 connecting) we got were comfortably quiet since both faced the garden beneath.
The garden is stretched along a very nice teras used for breakfast but unfortunately we could not use it because there were no Non Smoking areas assigned by the hotel and occasionally smokers popped where non expected.
The staircase is very impressive and you have to cross several stairs to get to the elevator (we rarely used the elevator to get to the first floor).

We spent a night at the Quirinale in July and have mixed feelings. We didn't find the staff at all obliging.. Admittedly we had just come off our boat cruise where the staff were exceptionally friendly. The beds were exceptionally hard, lumpy and uncomfortable, as we're the pillows. The size of the room however was fabulous as was the decor and bathroom. A hotel such as this does themselves a huge disfavor by having horrid beds. The MOST important aspect of a hotel and this has been completely overlooked. The sheets too were too small for the bed and in the morning were all over the place. The breakfast was one of the best that we experienced throughout our month of traveling around Europe. The location, likewise, could not have been better. Please replace the beds and bedding and we will happily be back.

Room Tip: Ask them to ensure that the bed is sound before you choose a room. Perhaps we were unlucky. We had a...

Our party of six stayed here for two nights on a pre-cruise visit to Rome before leaving on our 12 night Eastern Mediterranean Cruise. We chose this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and you were right again!

This hotel was just beautiful and everything I had in mind. It was truly timeless and a memorable visit. The colors were rich and it had magnificent gardens and ballrooms. The room was large, clean and had an in-room safe. The breakfast was truly European with breads, cheeses, pastries, and an assortment of coffees.

It was convenient to downtown Rome and we walked to our destinations most of the time. The staff was also helpful in holding our luggage until our rooms were ready.

I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here twice during my recent travels through Italy, and the second visit felt like I was returning home. Very comfortable beds, super spacious rooms, clean and charming bathrooms, and the best breakfast I've had throughout my stays at a variety of Italian hotels. And all of this for a very reasonable price!

My extended family of 15 stayed at the Hotel Quirinale for 4 days. All of our accommodations were comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful and the entire premises was meticulously maintained. It was my second time staying at the Quirinale and I would highly recommend it. Its close proximity to all major tourist attractions was a huge plus.
