If you get a good price on the net, take this room for your family. Large room with massive oval bath. A grand old building decked out in a traditional style. Hotel is very close to train station and the tourist spots. Breakfast was good with a wide spread including bacon and eggs which was a nice change from the normal continental fare.

Yes, decent hotel. Old very large Hotel, has a touch of class about it, however it is jaded and tired in places but far away from being decrepit. Had booked a small twin room and got exactly that, a small twin room, every bit as small as River Palace room but not as well finished. Clean room looking out onto via Torino and a long way down about 4 corridors, so far away from reception that wifi (access code not offered at check in) was non existent, worked really well in lobby area. Reception staff and Concierge staff were grand - no hint of the stuffiness read about in previous reviews. Breakfast was grand, good choice. The strangest thing noticed about most of the rooms was that the room doors opened out wards, prison cells anyone? Overall, decent Hotel, and if you were paying for more deluxe rooms, probably a better experience, however having stayed in a good few hotels all over Rome, there is better value and experience elsewhere.

Room Tip: Try a get one where the door opens inwards, it's probably a bigger room.

As noted by other reviewers this is a really old hotel but it has been well maintained and has a certain class. Our room was quite large and the bath was clean and large as well. We very much enjoyed the breakfasts and have no complaints. I especially enjoyed the bartender, an older gentleman who exuded an old world charm. We first booked for just one night and then hit the road for about 10 days. An unplanned return through Rome on our way south had us looking for a room and while I drove my wife used her IPhone to book another night at this hotel. Problem solved and no surprises. We would definitely recommend this hotel and for our purposes it far exceeded a night spent at the Radisson Blu where we stayed later in our trip.

We stayed in the Quirinale hotel in October. We highly recommend it as it is very old world and comfortable. It was warm beautiful large baths very important at the end of a day walking and very comfortable beds. We had very nice breakfast and one evening meal. The evening meal was a very high standard of cuisine and similar in price to irish restaurants who reach good food guides.

I stayed at the Quirinale hotel from the 30th October to the 2nd November 2012. I was travelling with my grandparents so emailed beforehand to request a quiet room for them. I was slightly concerned about some of the mixed reviews but needn't have worried!

The hotel is lovely, it is very grand with a large entryway, and was very easy to find.
The first impressions of the hotel are very good as the entry hall is large and well designed. There is a lovely breakfast room which is very old fashioned and elegant. We arrived in the evening, extremely tired after the flight and found the staff to be very helpful.

The rooms-
My grandparents had a standard double room (you can see this on the photos) which was large with a nice bathroom and very quiet (although it didn't have a very nice view but you can't have both!)

My room was mean to be a single but was actually a small twin room. It was larger than I expected with a large bathroom and wardrobe, desk and TV. The room was facing Via Nazionale which is a very busy street. On the plus side this meant I had a lovely view for people watching but there was a lot of noise. I don't mind this, preferring to sleep with background noise but others may prefer to bring earplugs or to request a quiet room beforehand, especially if you are up early for sightseeing.

The food, bar and restaurant- The breakfast was very nice, always replenished often with a nice array of juices, coffee, tea, cakes, breads, pastries, hot food, fresh fruit, yoghurts and cereal. It is usually quite busy but the staff are very attentive and quick at getting tables turned around.

We reserved a table in the Rossinni restaurant (in the hotel) for the first night as we arrived quite late. The food was lovely, well presented and served by attentive, charming staff. We felt welcomed and although the service and food was high quality, the atmosphere was relaxed. I do not understand other reviews who mention unhelpful or rude staff. We never experienced this and found that the staff were always polite and helpful. The experience was so good that in fact we ate in the restaurant all three nights we stayed in Rome as my grandparents were exhausted after all the sightseeing.

We ate in the green bar for lunch a couple of times. The first day we stopped back in the hotel after a morning of sightseeing before heading to the vatican in the afternoon. We decided to have tea which was well served in the large breakfast room with a selection of (delicious) biscuits.

The location- As others have mentioned the location is very central. It is literally 2 minutes from a metro stop which is on the St Peter's/Spanish steps line. It is also a quick walk to all of the sights.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. However it is quite old fashioned and others may prefer a more modern take. The staff were friendly and helpful, the location perfect and the experience a good one. The only complaint would be the noise in my room. However this could be avoided by emailing the hotel beforehand to request a quiet room.

This is not the most modern of hotels in Rom; in fact while the rooms are constantly upgraded it still has that antique feel but it's location in Via Nazzionale make is very attractive. One could get very good rates depending on the season. They do an excellent full English breakfast and the staff are very willing to help. It caters for both the businessman and tourist alike.

Interesting to see how different the experiences of different people can be. Our room was very large, with a proportionally large bathroom. The hotel is from an elegant era, and shows its age in some ways, but has been well maintained and attractively appointed. The reception staff was especially good, as was that in the bar. Contrary to some of the comments here, we found the breakfast staff poorly trained and, if not actually indifferent, at least inept. The breakfast itself, while plentiful and of a broad variety, was fundamentally the "standard Rome hotel breakfast"--not bad, but nothing notable. There is a pretty little garden where one may take breakfast. Those troubled by stairs be forewarned--although there is a very nice lift, one must take stairs to get to it, or to get to breakfast. We would be happy to return.
