My wife and i stayed in Rome as part of my 40th birthday celebrations. We stayed on the Aventine Hill for a few days then moved to this hotel for the final day purely as an additional extra cheaper hotel stay to our visit, the first hotel having been fairly expensive. The Columbus Hotel is a very grand building with nice public areas with the breakfast serving area being particularly nice and you can sit outside on the terrace to eat although i did feel the choice of food was quite poor compared to our first hotel. We had booked quite a cheap room and it was consistent with the price being a little dated albeit clean. You get what you pay for so i have no complaints there although the air-conditioning was a mobile unit and was a little noisy and not very effective. We found the staff to be very helpful. The real selling point of this hotel, and why we chose it, is that it is situated on the main street approaching Saint Peters and so there and the museum are only a short walk away.
