We researched hotels in Rome for at least two months before booking. We only had 4 days to experience Rome and Florence. The staff pampered us, they were kind, eager to help us, they paid attention to detail, most of them spoke English very well...very professional. The breakfast was just amazing--in the US we stay at many hotels and in different states and very few offer such an amazing selection. From the bar/restaurant at the rooftop we could view Michelangelo's dome in St Peter's Basilica. From hotel we were able to walk to Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Coliseum, and many other historic sites/monuments in the city in a short period of time and while we walked we were able to get a taste of what Roma is like. The hotel is in a safe area, also very close to the train station. If we needed a taxi, we only needed to walk a few yards down the street. The hotel staff arranged our tours to Florence and the Vatican, they were really helpful. The tour agency that took us to Florence and to the Vatican picked us up at the hotel, and dropped us off a few yards from hotel. The rooms were immaculately clean, the complementary mini bar was a real treat after a long day of sightseeing and walking in Florence. The hotel is located at a street with many stores so we just have to walk up and down the street and find from candy, to souvenirs, to clothing, to food--irish pub, pizzerias, cafes and restaurants. We changed our money to euros prior to flying to Europe, but even such exchange was available at the hotel. We took a room towards the back of the building, it was quiet and relaxing. We will definitely stay at the 'Hotel Artemide' next time we visit Rome.
