“Nice touch to kick off our vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

My hubby and I really enjoyed this hotel! We were very warmly welcomed to Rome by the hotel staff when we arrived despite the fact that they were very busy. When we walked into our room, we were very touched to see a bottle of wine and a nice note from the hotel manager congratulating us on our wedding anniversary...such a nice touch! It really kicked our vacation off on a great start! The hotel in general is very nice and clear plus it's in a good location with lots of restaurants and shops close by. Although we didn't pay for the breakfast package, we received 2 complimentary breakfasts, 2 complimentary drinks and 10% off for the rooftop restaurant/lounge. The breakfast was very good with a great selection of meats, cheeses, pastries, cereals and vegetables. The rooftop bar is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink or coffee (especially outside). Also, we loved that all the snacks and drinks in the mini-bar were complimentary - perfect after a day of touring the city! Our room was small but we expected that...we were very happy with the cleanliness and the modern feel/upgrades though. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Service with a smile, always. Nice room. Attentive. Perfect location. The included breakfast was truly the best complimentary buffet breakfast we've ever encountered. The eggs, yes, the scrambled eggs were memorable. Yes, eggs were memorable. The bacon--I don't know anything about Italian bacon--but the bacon at the breakfast was crazy good. Now--the absolute best part of the Artemide was that which was not expected to be anything but adequate--the hotel restaurant. We had the best meal of our entire trip to Rome and Italy in the hotel restaurant--Ambrosia. I had canneloni that was like eating candy and lamb chops that were as perfect and a lamb chop could be. We were savoring every single bite of these entrees and were simply astounded at the quality and flavor of our food. The rooftop terrace was a such a nice little escape after our days running around busy little Roma. We enjoyed cocktails on the terrace a couple of nights. All in all--this place will be hard to beat, ever. Only regrets--wish we had had another meal or two at the restaurant. :-)

My husband and I recently spent 4 days in Rome and stayed at the Artemide Hotel . This hotel is very centally located ,and was within reasonable walking distance of all major attractions. The staff are so friendly , the rooms extremely comfortable and super clean.( the bathroom was well stocked with Benetton toiletries, and even had a bidet in the huge luxurious space). Loved the roof top bar and restaurant ( had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant ) , and loved the Prosecco voucher that lured us up to the rooftop to begin with! The buffet breakfast was plentiful , the staff in the breakfast room were courteous and attentive . All in all it was a wonderful experience , and this hotel and it's lovely staff get a big tick as one of the most welcoming and comfortable we've stayed in anywhere in the world.

I booked this hotel based on reviews on this site but sadly our experience so far has been anything but good. We arrived early after a 24 hour journey and there was no welcome or smile on the receptionists' face. We were told very sternly that the room was occupied and that check -in was 2pm so the earliest we could expect to be in our room was at 1 pm. They gave us complimentary breakfast which was wasted on us because we had already eaten on the flight. We headed out and returned at 12:30 because our children were tired and jet lagged and were rudely told that we needed to wait another hour. We eventually checked in just before two. During our wait I witnessed a few other guests being checked in with broad smiles on the face of these two front office staff. They were also given maps with tourist attractions circled. We had none of that; just grumpiness and grouchiness.

After all hat hanging around we were given a room facing the road on the second floor and the traffic noise is so unbearable we headed out and bought earplugs.

I will not be recommending this hotel to my friends back in Australia and I do not plan to spend my money drinking or dining in this hotel.

I strongly suspect the staff here are racist and I believe their attitude towards us was what it was because we are coloured people.

Anyway, we have a few more nights to spend here before we continue our travels and do not wish to let the Artemide staff ruin our holiday.

I hope the management of this hotel deal very strongly with these two very discriminatory staff.

RomeGR, General Manager at Hotel Artemide, responded to this review, October 5, 2012
Dear guest,

When working in hospitality and dealing with people from all walks of life on a daily basis, we know that is a hard job to please each one of them. So, for us, criticism is not perceived as something negative, but as a means to learn from our guests and hopefully improve our services. However, during our years in business, nothing has prepared us for such review. Guests are entitled to their own opinion and we are ready to deal with any negative feedback on our technical performance, on our physical structure or even on a less sympathetic member of staff, but we will not accept being labelled as racist.
Our company is based on very strong values, such as the promise to deliver flawless hospitality at all times, a positive attitude towards our guests and staff and the belief that our greatest strength lies on our diversity. We are happy to have a multi-ethnic staff, who come from places as far as the Philippines or as close as Romania, and who all bring a different and unique approach when dealing with our guests and when working as a team. We believe this is what sets us apart!
Therefore, you can understand how appalled we were by your serious accusations. We had to find out who you were and what had triggered such a negative impression. As we later found out, you wrote your review on the day of your arrival and, as you still had other 4 nights with us, we decided to seek you out and hopefully have a chat, listen to your experience and explain you our point-of-view. We were glad to understand that your opinion had already changed at that point, and that you admitted being too harsh with us on your review.
We have also interviewed the members of staff whom you dealt with on the day of your arrival; apart from being shocked by your review, they categorically denied having treated you any differently than any other guests (not that this came as a surprise to us, but we needed to hear all the versions of this unfortunate incident). They told us that on your arrival you were kindly and professionally informed that your room wasn’t ready; check-out is at 12.00 and check-in starts at 14.00, and your room was still occupied at 9.00, when you arrived. Our regular procedure, when a guest arrives earlier than the check-in time, is to give him any available room of the same category; unfortunately, and because you had booked a Family room, which is a room type with limited availability, there was none free at the moment. However, and because we could see how strained and exhausted you were, the least we could do was offering you, your husband and your kids a complimentary breakfast. Although breakfast was included on your fare, this naturally excluded your arrival day. Although you say it was wasted on you, we were still happy to learn from our breakfast team that you used the offer and that this might have left you feeling a bit more comfortable.
The guests you saw being checked-in where guests who probably had a different room category and whose room was already available at that time. You were also given maps and suggestions, when the time for your check-in came.
Regarding the rudeness or impoliteness you perceived on those two members of staff, we would invite you to read other reviews, kind words of appreciation form other guests, on how our staff’s smile has changed their holidays for good. By the way, why not have a look at our official Facebook page? It is full of comments, pictures and recommendations from happy guests, and they come in all genders, origins, sizes and shapes.
Just a quick word regarding the room you were given. As we’ve mentioned before, there is a limited number of Family rooms in our hotel, so they are pre-assigned at the moment of booking. In your case, we’ve given you a lovely Junior Suite converted into Family room, as this was more spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, all our Family rooms or Junior Suites are located on the front of the building, facing the main street; this is normally not a problem for the majority of guests, but if you had informed us that the noise was too much for you, we would have looked into other possible options, such as moving you to a Superior room, that can be rearranged to host up to four people, and that faces our quiet internal courtyard.
Finally, we would like to say that, even after all this misunderstanding, we were happy to know that not only we did not spoil your holidays, but you left Artemide Hotel with a smile, thanking our Front-Desk staff and that you even had dinner in our restaurant, which we trust was an enjoyable experience.
We feel confident to say that we would be very happy to welcome you again at our hotel!

We rolled our suitcases from Rome Termini station to the Hotel Artemide on Via Nazionale. After a 10-15 minute walk through hectic Rome streets, the Hotel Artemide was like an oasis. Staff at the front desk were extremely helpful. Our room was compact but clean and modern & had everything we wanted. The free water & snacks in the minibar were a very nice touch. And the breakfast included in the room price was excellent. Despite being on the very busy Via Nationale the room was relatively quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is also very well located - about a 15 minute walk to the Coliseum. The Hotel Artemide is a very nice place to spend a couple of days in Rome.

Perfect location for rome visitors! On a central street with restaurants and shops. Walking distance to pretty much everything (colosseum, spanish steps, ruins, trevi) also the city tourist busses are within a block (full access to city). For americans: they have real coffee (big cups and not too strong, which is great in EU). THE ROOM: we had the double deluxe, which is AMAZING (facing the street). We had italian red wine waiting for us, and we checked in on my husbands birthday. Within 5 minutes the staff was at the door with chilled champagne to celebrate! On our last day there, our plane left at 630 in the morning (left hotel around 4am). The clerk and concierge had made and bagged a to-go breakfast for us, and had the taxi cab waiting. I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK I LOVE THIS HOTEL!!!

Room Tip: Room with a view, we had the king double deluxe (facing the street) - the noise from the street is b...

My husband and I spent three nights in Rome and had reserved a deluxe triple room as a friend of mine was joining us in Rome at the Artemide Hotel. On our arrival we were each given a voucher for a glass of Proseco at the rooftop bar. This was definitely the finest hotel we stayed at during our entire trip to Italy. The room was larage and well appointed and included a mini bar which was restocked each day. The bathroom and shower were large and well stocked with toiletries that were very tastefully presented There was also a beautiful plate of fresh fruit in the room, various biscuits and snacks and a kettle to make our own tea or coffee. All the staff members we encountered were very courteous and extremely helpful. This hotel is very conveniently located to the train station and provides easy access to all the historic sights in Rome, either on foot or by the Metro. Even though it is in a very busy part of Rome this hotel is an absolute haven from your days travels. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Rome.
