Our cruise ship stopped in Civitavecchia for a day. We were traveling with a multigenerational group ranging in age from 6 to 75. For this reason, we opted not to take the cruise ship’s tour of Rome. We thought the private tour would give us more flexibility if the kids got antsy or the seniors needed to slow down. We chose Rome Driving Tours because of the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. Also, after watching their promotional video on their website, our kids had to know “what can you see through the keyhole?" Elena, with whom we corresponded via email, always responded promptly and addressed all our questions/concerns. We were all a little daunted by the prospect of a 10 hour tour including driving 1 hour each way. However, with Max, our driver/guide, we didn’t worry at all about the schedule: he kept us on time, accommodated all the breaks we needed including a leisurely lunch, and showed us the key highlights and even made sure we stopped to look in the keyhole! Our trip included a stop at Vatican City and a 2-hour guided tour. We highly recommend a guide for the Vatican as there is so much to see that it would have been difficult to get through it all on our own in 2hours. It was helpful having someone point out the highlights. It was a whirlwind tour, but we never really felt overly rushed. One of the biggest concerns we all had was whether we would make it back to the ship in time, given how much we were hoping to see and the distance from the port. Thanks to Max, we got back to the boat with lots of time to spare. We would definitely recommend Rome Driving Tours as an alternative to cruise organized tours.

The service was excellent. Driver was waiting for us and the drive to Rome was quick and comfortable. Maurizio drove us all around Rome & the Vatican & packed a lot into the day and thoroughly enjoyed it!

We were a group of 7 adults and we had 2 fabulous days with Paolo. We scheduled an all day tour of Rome and on another day, we went to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. On both days, the tours were flexible and we were able to make changes as needed. We were in Italy for 14 days and our tours with Paolo were a highlight of our trip, definitely 5+. We will be returning to Rome next September and we want to schedule another tour with him.

Our group of five booked a tour of Tuscany as an excursion on our recent Mediterranean cruise. Elena was very helpful in booking and confirming our tour. Our guide, Gian Marie, was great. He was waiting for us with a sign when we got off the boat. After a drive through the countryside, our first stop was the charming town of Volterra. Gian Marie gave us a quick tour and pointed out the ruins, and then we had time to explore on our own. He knew the best places to stop for photos and was happy to take pictures of our group. We had an amazing wine tasting at Fattoria Sant'Appiano, where we tried more than 10 wines and had snacks. Next, we stopped for lunch (and more wine) at a restaurant with an amazing view of the countryside. Our guide chose a restaurant that could accommodate my sister with celiac disease. Our last stop was the town of San Gimignano, where we had free time to explore. We arrived back at our boat with plenty of time to spare. I would highly recommend a tour of Tuscany with Gian Marie and Rome Driving Tours. We had a wonderful day that we'll remember forever.
