Being a first time visitor to rome I had been warned that it would be expensive to eat and drink.
This hotel seem to be in a residential area of rome yes the metro is near, but we didn't use it it was only a twenty minute walk to the colosseum so didn't see the point.
Wandering around the area there are plenty of restaurants at more than reasonable prices and with a bit of basic Italian we got delicious meals for under 45€ including a bottle of wine and starters..
The room was more than adequate and very well thought out and breakfast is ok with a good enough selection..
best thing we found a nice coffee/bar on piazza Tarquinia (right first left up via sonna, on the right) called caffe sol, where you could sit and watch the world go by with peroni at 1.50€

even the hotel only charged 3€ for beer not bad when the tourist areas they were asking 8-10€

This is going to be a good review so let me say I am not connected in anyway with owners of the hotel ;-) I've been staying in the hotel last week and I am really happy with my choice! Room and bathroom are very clean and a cleaner comes each day. Hotel staff is very friendly and cheerful - everyone - people at reception, people at breakfast room and even cleaner I met in the corridor. You feel welcomed and happier because everyone around is so happy and nice :) They also act very professionally and in breakfast room you feel like in a 5-star restaurant when it comes to service. Breakfast is included in price and is really good! Moreover the breakfast room is on top floor and you have from there a panoramic view over Rome. Room is modern, and there's a proper sized bathroom. I was in an economic room - meaning it was really small and a bit dark, however it had all that you need. The only thing that disturbed me was that room was not really noise-proof and you could well hear your neighbours taking shower or all the noises from corridor - including cleaner coming around 8 am. So as long as you don't want to sleep longer then 8am it will be all right. I had some issues with locking a safe-box in the room but the staff was helpful to resolve it. Also the hotel offers some little facilities (though I have not tried) like tearoom and library, kettles on request, free rome maps. This is rather a small hotel and I have not seen there any organised tours - only families, friends, or single travellers. Location is not so great, but is not bad either. It is still in the walking distance to Colosseum - 20-25 minutes. Though for main attractions it makes more sense to commute rather then to lose extra 1 h walking each way. The hotel is quite close to metro, however I learnt that metro will not take me anywhere touristic (except St Peter). So I had to take buses and change. The problem is that buses don't come often - I really hated waiting for the bus for 20-25 minutes and it never arrived - in many bus stops there is no timetable and you don't see when the next one will come. So often after 20 min of waiting I gave up and walked. Quite irritating but hey - this is Italy so why would you hurry ;-)
On the street there are some pizza take-aways, italian restaurant - always very busy with locals, and seafood restaurant. I ate there dinners - food was cheap and ok.
Overall I rate this hotel really high because of very good ratio price to quality and recommend!

Room Tip: Ask fora room overlooking back side and the higher the better (view!)

We loved this hotel. Value for money was excellent. Don't be put off by the exterior or the main lobby - the rooms are very comfortable and impeccably clean. Only 5 minutes walk from San Giovanni metro station and 20 minutes walk from the Colosseum so very easy to get around. Breakfast is OK (nothing to write home about) but it is self service so you can eat as much bread, croissants, cheese, ham, jams, cereal, eggs and bacon as you like. Coffee at breakfast wasn't good but the free coffee machine in the lobby provides truly excellent coffee. Extremely friendly and pleasant staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back of the hotel to ensure quiet

Rooms: very clean, adequate size for 2 people.
Bathroom: very clean.
Elevator: very tinny :)
Location: on busy street but close to restaurants, the best ice cream shop right across the street. 10-15 min walking distance to colossus!

I do recommend and I would return if lucky enough to go back again:)

Restaurant has great view of the city. But the waiters not too pleasant is the restaurant.

Front reception: acceptable. No issues there.

Happy traveling

As most people have commented the room is small but not ridiclous. The bathroom was very clean and the bed comfy. We were at the front of the hotel which is quite noisy with traffic. We live on a busy road in Bristol but this does not compare with this road, horns and scooters going late into the night and from the early hours of the morning. Location was OK, metro about 500m down the road but the best we option we found, too late, was to catch the 87 bus bang opposite the hotel which will take you directly to the colusseium and the Roman Forum. It stops at Plaza Argentina where you can switch to a tram to take you across into Trastevere. Word of warning though, be aware that if you open the safe and do not close it within 10 mins you will expereince all sorts of problems. Luckily Ernesto from the hotel kept his patience with us and we managed to work out the error of our ways.

Room Tip: Ask for a room a the rear of the hotel if you want peace and quiet.

My wife and I recently stayed at this Hotel. Yes the rooms are a tad small, however I don't think you visit a city like Rome and stay in your room. I consider it a base from where I will wander and return to sleep. The Bed was so comfy and strangely large enough for the two of us to sleep comfortably. The TV had 1 English channel CNN, which provided some news coverage and ambient light to fall to sleep to. We were in Italy, strangely there were plenty of Italian channels to choose from. Can the Italians say the same when they visit UK. The rooms were visited everyday by maid service, and were kept to a high standard. The staff at reception, Notably Ivan was so helpful. When asked a question... Could he recommend a resturaunt he spent ages looking out on tinterweb for what we were looking for. He also spent a fair while explaining the break down of Rome, which area is the most expensive, which Metro train would get you were and even the buses. All of the other staff at reception were lovely to. Breakfast in the morning was very good and the coffee pot would be regularly filled. My only complaint whilst visiting the city was the rain and the umbrella sales blokes who pester you at every turn, not to do with this hotel obviously but just saying.
