“I'll book here again if we return, but maybe in the main hotel.”

Our room was in the annex. Room and bathroom were small but clean. As the room is small, there is not a lot of storage/closet space. The room only has one armoire. Wifi was spotty at times.

The Reception Desk was pleasant and friendly, as were the staff manning the complimentary breakfast station. Breakfast offerings were good (scrambled eggs, bacon, hotdogs, bread, cold cuts, fruits, cereal, yoghurt, milk, juices and water).

The hotel is walking (and sighting) distance from the Cavour stop. It’s in the vibrant Monti neighborhood where we found a great gelateria (Fatamorgana) and good cheap quick eats (Da Milvio). And of course, the beautiful Colosseo is 5 minutes away.

Wishlist: (1) One queen bed instead of two little ones pushed together; and (2) better sound proofing.

I stayed at the Duca D'Alba for 6 nights in June with my two children. Upon arrival I was disappointed when I saw the room- we were in the Annex, which is 2 doors away from the main hotel- basically like an apartment building. The room seemed quite dark, and faced into an internal courtyard of sorts- so our view was of a wall. The bathroom was quite large and modern as others have noted, but the room itself was long and narrow, with one small closet and no drawers. At all. Anywhere. This presented a problem as there was nowhere to put our clothes- so basically we lived out of suitcases for 7 days. As it was a longer stay it would have been much nicer to have been able to unpack. Also, the interior courtyard was noisy- crying babies, etc. We asked to see a different room, but none was available as we were a triple. They showed us a double in the main hotel that we much preferred- it was a smaller room, but just felt more charming. I think if I were to go back I would request a room in the main hotel.
That being said, the hotel did grow on me. The wi-fi worked great, and breakfast was adequate. The people at the front desk were generally very nice. The location is fabulous- the colosseum is just down the street, there is a metro station nearby, and the area is safe and lively.

This turned out to be a great little hotel in the heart of Rome. Walking distance from all the touristy parts around Colosseum, Spanish Stairs and Trevi Fountain. We walked from the Termini station to the hotel. It's doable but perhaps a bit on the long side.

The hotel staff was really helpful and service-minded and the breakfast was good.

Two negatives:
Rock hard bed. Really really hard.

Wifi connection (free). The signal in our room (202) were extremely week. Basically, we had to stand next to the door of our room to get any workable signal. The signal in the lobby area was great though.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Duca D'Alba during our anniversary trip to Rome. The hotel was in a great location to the Metro and many scenic sights. It was a great place to see all the sights Rome had to offer and relax when the long days were over. The staff was very helpful, going out of their way to make us feel at home. Overall we were very pleased with our stay

When we arrived at the Duca D'Alba, dazed and jet lagged and having walked from the Roma Termini station (about 3/4 mile), we were told there was a problem with our room. But the manager had made a reservation for us at another hotel (which turned out to be quite nice),paid our cab fare there and paid for the difference in room rate - the alternative hotel was more expensive. The next day we checked in for the remaining two nights of our stay. The management continued to be very apologetic - though we never learned what the problem with the room was. However, in Italy, you don't always find out why things happen. They gave us a complimentary bottle of wine that night. The Duca D'Alba seems ideally located for seeing all the sights of central Rome. It is on a quiet side street loaded with shops and eateries. The Via Cavour rail station is close by. We stayed in the annex, which was private and quiet. We had good wifi reception. The breakfast was adequate and friendly. There is quite a bit of what appears to be local and tourist night life in the immediate area, including the nearby piazza. Once the initial problem was overcome, we had a great stay.

Room Tip: The annex seems very private.

One thing sticks to my mind about my experience here, the receptionist. There was one
lady receptionist which wasn't very helpful or polite, and I would dread having to ask
her for directions or anything else. The bellboys were really helpful though. There is
an elevator for luggage, so that's a plus point. The room was tiny, but I guess it's the
norm in Rome. We had the first floor so we could hear all the street noise right below
at night. I wouldn't stay here again because of the Wifi. I could see it the network,
connect to it, but nothing moved. Nothing at all. I had to use my phone to search
anything on the web. Location is superb, so if you don't need wifi, you are good to go.

The location of the hotel was so good, we didn't need to take any kind of transportation in a 6 day trip! 5 minutes from the Forum, 45 minutes from the Vatican (the longest we walked).
The staff was kind, the Wi-Fi worked fine, the breakfest was very good, and the location couldn't be better.

The only problem was the noise from the other rooms in the Annex at night. We don't know if that's also a problem at the main building, but we woke up almost every morning because of it.

Overall, great hotel, the location worth everything.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a bath, recommended.
