My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in May. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The Room was clean and well appointed. The only thing I would do differently next time would be not to get a room right off the street, local bar across the street was a bit noisey at night. We liked the location close to Metro and walking distance to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. But what stands out the best was the location in the Monti section between Via Cavour and Via Panisperna. Many family owned restaurants, local bars all made the Rome experience even better.

Room Tip: Not one off the street.

The hotel is quite clean and well decorated. Our room, although quite small, was fashionably decorated. The bathroom was very modern and well-appointed. Our room was quiet but dark, a result of being located in the back of the annex. We were surprised to be given a room in the annex which is a block of rooms located in an apartment building across the courtyard and outside of the hotel. There was one drawback. When one of us left the room, there was no way to get back into the annex and up to the room without the single door key. The front desk was a little irritated when asked for assistance to get back to the room. This isn't a problem when both left the room together.
Breakfast was good but simple. Not a large variety but adequate. The staff were very nice.
Location is good with many restaurants and bars located in the neighborhood and the colosseum located mere blocks away.

Room Tip: May wish to ask for a room in the main hotel and NOT the annex.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Duca D'Alba Hotel for 7 nights. From the time we arrived at the hotel to the time we left we were treated so well. The hotel arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport. Upon our arrival we had requested a basket of fruit, as we were traveling a long distance and getting in late we we wanted something to munch on. The hotel replaced our fruit the next day as some had gotten a little too ripe. They did this without us asking...AMAZING! The staff suggested a fantastic pizzeria down the street for dinner. Everytime we asked for directions or suggestions they were always willing to help.Breakfast was great with hot food. the hotel is located very close to the Colleseum and the Roman Foru ; Cavour metro station is about a 1 min. walk. The hairdryer in the room did not work in our room so we called down and they had a new one for me within 2 mins. Also after we left for the afternoon, they replaced the entire dryer unit. When we return to Rome, we will be sure to go back to this hotel! Loved every minute of our stay...Thank you for making our trip to Rome so comfortable and enjoyable!

This is a boutique hotel ,very clean , very helpful staff like Alberto, romy, Tatiana - thanks guys!
Location is very near Colleseum, the ruins are a walking distance,Cavour station is about a 1 min. Walk. There's a good gelato beside it , restaurants,pharmacy..local shops...Everything you ll need .. Also a bar across . Our room was facing the bar which got busy at night but the noise wasn't heard from within the room. Breakfast was good with hot food. Although it would be nice to have a change of menu every day or every two days...in total.. We liked this hotel very much!

Room Tip: Check out the sizes as you book as it varies.. Rooms on second floor are good

We stayed at the Duca D'Alba end of May - beginning of June 2012 for 5 nights. We had made the hotel aware that it was a very special occasion a big birthday and if there was anything they could do to make our stay a little special that would be much appreciated. We were given a small room, which was nicely decorated with a terrace. We had specifically asked for a double bed though and again in a lot of European hotels what is considered a double bed by them is not by us (from UK) it was one of those awkward 2 beds pushed together things - which we HATE! as they can be very uncomfortable. Also the bed was a little hard - but we do have a very comfy bed at home so this could have swayed us on that one!!!

The location is excellent, right across the road from the hotel there are a few little bars one of which 'Alice's' was a great little find, we had a brilliant few hours in there!!! Also a gorgeous little very traditional restaurant just a few doors down from the hotel we almost didn't go to as was too close to hotel but well worth it called La Vecchia Roma - Ristoranti E Pizzerie. You must try it! Staff very friendly and accommodating and good prices, always packed when we walked past! with a lot of locals too!! And they do say when in Rome do as the Romans do.......

In our room the bathroom was very cramped and the toilet was enclosed behind the bathroom door when the door was open so very poor design really, we did have an incident with some towels and the hotel charged us €50's to replace a few towels!!! Which as you can imagine we were rather disgruntled about!

All in all though if you are very careful with your towels you will probably find this hotel great as the breakfast was of a good selection, cereal, cooked eggs, sausages, fruit, bread, cakes, cold meats etc etc, pretty much all you could want to get you ready for the day to hit Rome!!!

Located right next to Cavour metro which is easy to access Termini station one stop down. And within about 5 minutes walk you are at the Colosseum and it is a great location to get pretty much everywhere in Rome, the city is actually a lot smaller than you probably imagine with things quite close about 5-15 minutes between!

Also there is no longer a gym which is advertised on the website but when we asked about it we were told it was no longer a facility - a little disappointing!

Duca D'Alba Hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the Roman Forum and Colosseum, and near to lots of great places to eat and a tube station. The breakfast was very good and the staff reasonably friendly. I had a room that they call a "small single." I booked late and this was the only option. Personally I would not recommend the room as it was extremely small and a bit difficult to manipulate yourself and a suitcase in. I mean really, really small. However other rooms that I looked into looked great. The wi-fi is free but you do need to get a new password every 2 days.
My biggest negative is that to adjust the air conditioner you have to get the control from reception and then take it back... so if you adjusted it too cold or too warm you have to go all the way back downstairs and up again...a little tiresome and easily fixed with a remote in each room. I wish they would do this.

Despite some troubles with a staff member, it is a clean room and well located option in Rome.
