This hotel SMELLS!!! do not stay here!!! the location is good but the smell in our hall/bedroom and hotel in general is a disgusting sickening mildew like smell. the aircon served only as a refrigerator to retain the disgusting smell. the room is totally outdated, tv was something star trek 80's like. On checkout, when I asked reception about the smell in the room, the guy said they will look into why there was a smell in our room. feel sorry for the staff working in that environment. Only stayed 2 night so laughed it off, but no way could you stay longer. It seems the whole hotels plumbing system needs to be changed. DO NOT BOOK!

I'll be quick. Bad points: We had a twin room with dormitory beds, plug sockets and wallpaper hanging off the wall, permanently running bidet, no safe (pay per day for a safe at reception), have to get your aircon remote from reception. Also, lots of waste (they took my soap away every day, so in a week I used 5 of their soaps, when 1 would have been sufficient..they also replaced all towels each day, even though they didn't need to be) Good points: Clean hotel, friendly and helpful staff. It needs a big refurb as it's outdated, tired and old, by the end of the week it was actually comical as more things were going wrong / falling off. Overall, it's a quirky hotel that's not brilliant, but is ok.

Dear all,
My sincere suggestion is to avoid all hotels within Leonard Hotels group.
When we came the receptionist said that there was no room for us (we booked directly by hotel’s web site 3 months before and got confirmation by email 4 days before we arrived that everything is ok). Can you imagine the beginning of our stay in Rome?! They offered us another hotel from their group (Bled hotel) because they did not sell all rooms in that, way further hotel, and they had to find the way to do this (our names were already on the list of the arrivals for that day in Bled hotel but not Edera which we booked). The hotel is one metro station southern from hotel Edera (2km from Piaza Venezia). The lady who was presented as a director was very unpleasant. She was talking only in Italian or Spanish. Her answer on double booking was that it is not their fault, and that we can go to the other hotel they offer (Bled) or to go out on the street. At the same time with us was also one young couple from St. Petersburg who had the same problem.
I would never ever stay in any hotel in this group and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Location: really good, you can walk or take a metro very easily.
Room: not really big, quite average. On the first night we arrived late so got a smoker room, which was really smelly. We changed on the second night and it was much better.
Breakfast: limited choice, not great quality, just OK.
Staff: nice, professional.

We booked a double room at Hotel Daniela, but there were some problems with the water and they send us to Hotel Edera. The location was even better than the first. The room was nice, clean and we had balcony. Breakfast was ok. The hotel has also wi-fi. The location is great, very close to Colosseum, metro station, Termini.
The only negative thing was that on our reservation was written that fee and taxes are included and at the reception they put on our invoice another fee.

Booked a double room through booking.com and got a cheap deal, around £33 pppn. (We were a little miffed to hear that we had to pay the tourist tax £2pppn as we were told it was already included but this was no big deal and possibly the fault of the agent rather than the hotel)

The staff were friendly and we encountered no problems, breakfast was standard for European hotels with cereal, croissants, rolls jams, ham and cheese everyday with fresh coffee.

The room was small and 2 single beds were shoved together but I'm beginning to realise this is fairly normal for budget hotels. The bathroom was clean and impressive with a new marble-looking finish.

One annoyance is the staff's habit of turning your air conditioning off while you are out so the room is always hot when you first get back, but we had a fairly powerful little machine in our little room so it cooled down quickly. I found a solution to this was hiding the remote although they must have got a spare one one of the days. Oh you also have to ask for the remote at reception which they will neglect to tell you but offer when you ask.

We wanted a certain standard of room because it was our little get-away and we wanted somewhere nice to come back to but the location was the most important thing to us as we planned on being out site-seeing all day every day, and the location is fantastic!!

Walking 30 seconds round the corner you can see the Colosseum and after a 5-10minute walk through Domus Aurea (Nero's garden) you are there! And there is a metro line at the Colosseum from which you can get to almost everywhere for a couple of Euros.

Not by any means a top hotel but would recommend for those on a budget as deals can be found that beat the price of some hostels!
