“Nice Boutique Hotel”

Nice hotel with cute bar and lounge, staff helpful and friendly. Rooms small, but nice and clean. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast had lots to choose from. Close to metro and train station. Would stay here again.

If you are going to visit Rome, and everyone should, Hotel Genova is a very nice clean convienent location to stay. The staff was friendly but the beds were very hard but nice and clean. The rooms aren't large but big enough. You will need an electrical adapter for your devices. Buffet breakfast was ok. The only problem I can say we had was with the free "Wi-Fi". Although it was free they always seemed to have a problem with the server and we could not get on-line.There are so many great restaurants and stores right outside the Hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room with very nice push-out windows and shutters. It was real nice to be able to open the...

Well check in was good, got in late - about 1 am. So they were ready for us, provided a very dark and comfortable sleep. Rooms are larger than most European stays. Here's the negative, the toilet leaked and/or someone pee'd on the floor (prior guest) and the maid maybe missed it? Anyhow when we put the bathmat on the floor it immediately turned a brownish yellow. We notified the front desk of this right away, and they said "tomorrow" and gave us new towels. Well tomorrow we check out. The mini bar fridge does not work, everything is warm and one of the bottles had a fuzzy mould on them, and so did the "clean" glasses left in plastic bags, --- as if to say they were sterilized. The bottle opener was sticky and mouldy as well. The towel bar warmer did not work. Night manager called 1 hr after we complained- telling us she's sorry, but no offer for different room or discount or anything. I can discuss in the morning with the manager. ---

I can accept a lot of difference in quality of room from North American standard to European, but this is the worst of the bunch on a 3 week adventure through 4 countries. I travel for business 130 nights/ year and I'm not being overly picky. I expect courtesy, cleanliness and respect- which most travellers expect from a service provider.

I'll update the post with the results of check out, but if you can get around the cleanliness issue, it is a good location- if that's what you need.

Our first time in Italy. This hotel was our home for three nights pre-cruise. The beds were as hard as I had read they would be. That seems to be the way it is in this corner of the world. Besides the bed, this was a lovely hotel. Very friendly and helpful, a surprise from what other recent reviews had commented on. We had excellent service from them. Our superior delux room was very clean and quite spacious. The breakfast was very good and location was perfect for catching the metro or hop on hop off bus. Our only real complaint was the street noise. Any hotel in the area would probably have the same problems so you can't really blame it on one hotel. Do people in Rome really ride trains all night long? We so enjoyed our time in Rome, what an experience! So thankful to see all the historical sights!

This is a great hotel to be close to colosseum, Roman Forum and many churches in Rome. We were able to walk to all the ruins and only a couple blocks from train terminal. Very updated furnishings in an old building. Wonderful breakfast of eggs, sausage/bacon, juices, coffee, meats, cheeses, cereal and Danishes each morning to get us out for sightseeing. Highly recommend to anyone. Staff very helpful with directions.

The hotel was close to the train station so I thought that might be convenient. However it is on a busy street and was very noisy. The staff was not friendly at all. One good thing is that the breakfast was very good. Lots of choices and good food.

Room Tip: Very small room but the price was right. Very noisy with all the traffic and the subway must run und...

This was our first trip to Rome so we were nervous about the accommodations. We were very pleased that the room was larger than what we expected was neat and clean, included a safe and small refrigerator and complimentary Wi-Fi in the lobby. The service was great and most of the staff spoke English so communication was decent. Claudio was especially helpful with helping us plan tours and providing recommendations on sites to visit, restaurants, transportation, etc. The buffet breakfast was really good and included a variety of choices. The location is walking distance from the train and bus station and you can walk to the Coliseum. The drawback for being in the center of things was the noise from the streets and rumbling of the trolley when it passed by. The bed mattress was too firm and uncomfortable other than this we had a wonderful stay.
