My wife and I stayed at the Hotel June 3-5 2014 as part of the Globus Best of Italy package. The hotel is centrally located making for a good option. The staff was ok. Our room was below average - dark, musty ac was ok. Thankfully we didn't spend much time there. The hotel had a nice rooftop bar and I thought the breakfasts were above average.
Located next to the train station. Very clean hotel with comfortable bed and nicely smelling room and coridor. Spacious rooms and nice old building. It is a 4 star hotel. I do recommend it. Friendly staff.
Property clean, front desk efficient, wi-fi in rooms not very good. Streets toward train station not attractive, but plenty of areas to explore in other direction. Breakfast choices good, staff friendly. We stayed there with a tour group.
Stayed in the Mediterraneo hotel for 4 nights at beginning of June and had a great relaxing time. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful so we were quickly in our room after the train trip from the airport. The hotel is only 100 metres or so from the train terminal so easy to walk over in 5 mins and in our room 5 mins later. The room was a very nice and large corner room and even though on 1st floor did not have too much road noise at night so a nice and comfortable place to sleep at night.
The hotel was established in the 1930's so has many period features and looks very impressive. The ground floor area oposite the reception is very spacious with large comfortable sofas to relax nad reflex on a busy day. There is a bar for drinks there - but the best place to have a drink is up on the room terrace on the 10th floor which has outstanding views over the whole of Rome. Drinks come with great nibbles and are reasonable priced so don't miss the chance to visit.
Breakfast times were either very quiet or very busy depending on groups of visitors but a table was always available and there are some nice but basic options to help start the day off. With so much to do in Rome it makes sense to have a good start to the day as the roller-coaster of sights of the city will drain energy pretty quickly. It is only a 10 minute walk to the Colloseum and 20 mins to Trevi fountain so the location is ideal for just setting off and strolling around the city.
So this is a good standard 4* hotel in a nice location and is well recommended.
We booked into this hotel through a deal on Last Minute.com. It is easy to find due to its proximity to the main station (Termini) and therefore quite close to the Colosseum. The rooms are nicely decorated and the en-suite bathrooms were totally spotless with quite large bathtubs. We did not have much of a view but this is not really an issue as visiting Rome is all about walking around and exploring the history of such a beautiful city.
The restaurant is quite expensive so it is worth checking out the menu before sitting down however breakfast in the morning consists of all the usual foods you would find in a southern European country....all of it completely delicious (and all you can eat).
The staff are really helpful and can answer any question you may have about touristy stuff, room service is also quite well priced and fast to arrive. Overall, a really good hotel that totally suited all of our needs.
We stayed at the Boscolo in Rome when we arrived the first two days but after traveling we needed to come back overnight to Rome to leave the next day for the airport.. but they were booked for my last night so my travel agent recommended this hotel.. all I can say is I wish I could have slept in the outside the lobby of the Boscolo that would have been better than this hotel that reminded me of the Shining!!! Absolutely horrible the rooms, the lobby, the elevator, the bathroom etc... I didn't sleep all night.. it should be a two star and that would be generous... stay stay away
