“Good views of the Forum from the restaurant and bar”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

The hotel is ideally situated across from the Forum and within a short distance of the Colosseum. We stayed in room 109 which doesn't have a view of the Forum (unless you lean out of the window) - many of the rooms don't. The room was quite dark due to the heavy nets on the window but there were apartments directly opposite so some privacy is required. I agree with the other reviewers that the view from the bar is fantastic. We were given some complimentary drinks vouchers to use in the bar, but they were only valid from 7.30 until 8 pm and we were normally out eating elsewhere at that time, so we didn't get to use them.
The staff were very courteous & helpful. They arranged a minibus to get us back to the airport at 50 Euros which is only 2 Euros more than the taxi.
The breakfast was very good with a reasonable selection of hot and cold food.
There was some noise from the bar opposite which stayed open quite late - this is outside of the control of the hotel, but we always travel with earplugs so it didn't affect us. We would consider staying here again should we decide on a return visit to Rome.

Room Tip: A very few rooms have a view of the Forum. It would be worth enquiring about one of those when booki...

My boyfriend booked this restaurant for my birthday and we had a fantastic meal. We went to the American bar before out meal and wow what amazing views, we watched the sun set and took many photos. The restaurant was top class as my boyfriend had booked many months in advance as a surprise we had the best table in the house! impressive service and the food was impeccable! We had the taster menu and every course was perfect. We declined dessert as the meal was filling enough but as they knew it was my birthday a plate with chocolate 'happy birthday' and candles was presented just a perfect final touch! We returned to the American bar afterwards, rooftop terrace where you get blankets to keep warm it in its self is an oasis! Paolo served the most divine cocktails and whisked over free champagne when he noticed my boyfriend propose! He made our moment extra special. We returned the following evening to take in the experience again and Paolo was again fantastic. We will always return to the American bar when we come back as it is a truly special place in Rome!

Situated in the heart of Rome, Hotel Forum is a fantastic base to explore this fabulous city. Major sites and excellent shopping all within walking distance. Hotel is smart with loads of restaurants close by. The hotels roof top bar is magical.

We arrived and were happy our rooms were ready in the early afternoon. We had an odd location for our rooms. We had to take an elevator up to the third floor (or take the stairs, which is what we did) and when another very small elevator down to the second floor, where our rooms were. Great location for seeing the sights. Bed was not comfortable, but I don't expect that in Italy. Room was a good size and bathroom was also a good size, however it was difficult to put anything (cosmetic bags, clothes, etc) anywhere in bathroom. Would be nice to place a few shelves in there, as the pedestal sinks have no counter to place anything.

My only complaint would be our request for a taxi to get us to the airport. Front desk recommended a van for us, which I assumed was an official white taxi. That morning it was a black van. I asked the front desk if it was 48 euro (as all white taxis state) and was told it would be 50 euro. Not a big deal. When driver dropped us at airport he asked for 75 euro. We only had 65 euro left on us. Driver was upset & called hotel and confirmed we were told 50 euro. I regret giving him the 65 euro.

We stayed here for 3nights over Easter break and had a lovely trip. We chose this hotel due to location and we weren't disappointed. The colosseum is on your doorstep, not even a 5 minute distance and we walked everywhere.

The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive, our room was not made up on arrival and the kind gentleman suggested some great places to relax and take in rome.

The decor is typically roman with lovely chandeliers and wood paneling and dim lighting throughout. There is a terrace at the back that receives the morning sun and a lovely rooftop terrace to watch the sunset.

The staff also recommend taverna die fori imperiai which was the best meal and a must visit.
Wifi was temperamental in the room but fine in reception.

Great choice for a lovely city break.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 315 the third bed was a converted sofa bed and not ideal for a tall person, but wo...

Stayed at this hotel in February. Great central location but I found it a little dated. The sheets and bedding are very clean but then they have orange and brown coloured throws and curtains which gives the rooms a dark look. There is a small bar on the ground floor if you want a drink. Breakfast is served ona terrace on the roof which is very nice but the buffet breakfast is not up to much at all very basic, Most mornings they either had no scrambles eggs left or bacon and when asked for more a more than uphappy cook put more on and we were early for breakfast. All in all a good base to explore Rome

The position of our hotel is really strategic.
The classic damask tapestry is tipical of hotels in Louis XVI style.
We inform that we also have New Style rooms with tapestry satin clear.
During the entire summer season there is the American Bar and it is situated in the roof Garden "open air".
The buffet breakfast is served on the Roof Garden from 7.00 to 10.30am, probably upon your arrival, early in the morning before 7.00, the chef was preparing eggs and bacon, not ready yet.
We wait for you again in our hotel and in this occasion we will give you a brightest and more beautiful room.

Small friendly hotel, spotlessly clean. Very nice decor with a great bar on the roof, ideally placed near the Forum & The Colisseum. I will go back, great little hotel, food in restaurant ok but not wonderful. Good breakfast though, go on give it a try its worth it.

Room Tip: I had a room looking out into an internal yard, no view, but very quiet.
