“Forum Hotel, Rome”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

I stayed at this Hotel in a twin room and was very satisfied with the comfort and cleanliness of the hotel, the service and friendliness of the staff and the food at breakfast was great, with no limit on the amount you can eat. Its very well placed for sightseeing on foot or buses and metro within 400m.

This is our second stay at this hotel, the first as a couple with a young baby 10 years ago, and now as a family of 4 with a 10 and 8 year old. The hotel is superb, we had a great family room with 2 adjoining rooms, lots of space for all. The location is superb for exploring Rome in the middle of everything. The location of the restaurant is stunning with beautiful views over the city. Great service offered by all staff.

Just returned from a long weekend in the wonderful city of Rome. We contacted the hotel before we left and they arranged a car to pick us up at the airport to take us to the hotel, it cost 55euro and was worth the money. When we first got into Rome city, its was totally daunting and I kept thinking we are defo going to get lost lol. They drive like lunatics out there!!
The hotel on check in was wonderul, very swift and the room was ready even though we were 2 hours before check in allowed. The room we booked was a delux room, as we wanted a good view, and we werent dissapointed. The room was located at the side of the building but you still had a great view of the forum. The hotel as others have said is perfectly located, just walk outside into the pedestrian square look left and there is the glorious colessium in all its finery! Right accross the road from the hotel is the Forum. We did both those attractions on the day we arrived as they were so close. You buy a ticket at the Colessium for both the attractions. Dont bother with the tour guides who try to say they will get you straight into the attractions, as although the ques look massive they actually move quickly! And you can browse at your own leisure. Everywhere in rome is within walking distance of this lovely hotel. We even walked to the Vatican. Although it totally lashed it down when we did, but it was part of the fun!
Back to the hotel, the hotel itself is full of character and charm and holds the history of rome. The room was small but we didnt expect anything different as rooms in europe especially in old buildings tend to be on the small side. The only suggestions I would make to the hotel is, an extra pillow would be great as there was only one each, tea/coffee in room would be nice and the TV has NO english channels at all. After a very long tiring day walking around Rome the evening time was relaxing, lucky we had an ipad with movies and the first series of Mrs Browns Boys to watch lol. Marco at receiption is wonderful and extremely helpful. On arrival he gave us a map, although we already had one, the one he gave us was extremely helpful, with little pictures of the attractions on it to help you see where you are.
Rome itself is extremely expensive. We paid 10euro for a cafe latte near the Vatican and 16.50euro for one burger and chips!!! Very pricey, and dont expect them to know what garlic bread is, as what we think is Italian food isnt really! But what food we did have was amazing, totally fresh and nothing like the mush we all get here in the UK passed off as italian food.
We ordered a car to take us back to the airport and the driver was so helpful he came into the terminal to make sure we were going to the right desks. The italian people are wonderful and very friendly. We had no issues with anyone out there and felt totally safe. Just be careful of your bags as you walk around, like any city in the world, pick pockets are rife. The other thing is annoying is the beggers, there are many many its seems romanian gypsie beggers in the streets, and they dont take no for an answer and keep sticking their hands in your face you just have to ignore them!
All in all its a great city, there are no modern high risers in this city, they have totally retained their history and character, its full of things to see, just bring trainers with you lol. The hotel is lovely just dont expect 5* but it is very clean and friendly and in a fantastic location. We would defo go back there again.
If youre going enjoy and have fun xxxx

Room Tip: Ask for the delux rooms they tend to be at front of house. They also do smoking rooms if you want t...

Amazing location and view The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. With so many of the other sites within easy walking distance. But the hotel needs severe fitting up, bathrooms are not up to the standards, rooms on the back side are dark and shoul offer more to back it up. The feeling is of a potential great hotel which is falling apart.

Room Tip: Only renewed ones on thr front

Wonderful views from breakfast! We asked a room with three beds and were given one at the back of the hotel - not such a view but a lovely room, with good beds and plenty of room. It is a lovely hotel and very helpful!

The hotel has the most amazing location, right on the main road to the Colosseum and Centro Storico. I managed to walk to all the attractions with ease. The hotel itself is full of character, rather than a boring chain hotel. The staff were exceedingly polite and helpful. The room was nice and clean, but dark as the one window opened onto a neighbouring wall. The morning breakfast was excellent, with a nice selection of continental options and cereal. Eat enough at breakfast, skip lunch, and you can just about afford the astronomical cost of food in central Rome!

Would gladly stay again and definitely recommend it!

We thank you for your kind review and we are really happy to read that you have appreciated the location, the staff and the cleaning of hotel.
For next time, don't hesitate to ask for an external room (that looks outside) or even a Superior room and you will have the most beautiful view of Rome from your room.
We wait for your next reservation :-)

We booked a family room through a travel website but had little idea what this would comprise. however we had a welcome surprise to find we had a very large room with two bathrooms and a sofa bed for the girls divided from our double bed by a curtain. We rather liked the antique style furnishings - a change from the usual dull fare. The lack of anything on the television was also rather welcome as we got down to catching up on some reading after long days out walking round such a beautiful city. Staff were helpful and discretely sorted a problem with a taxi booking without any fuss. We arrived on a New Year's Eve with a concert and firework display by the Forum which was spectacular. There was some street noise but nothing out of the ordinary for a hotel in a city centre.

What makes this hotel so amazing is the location. Having breakfast overlooking the Forum and Palatine was wonderful and set us up for the day. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. With so many of the other sites within easy walking distance this hotel helped make this a very special four days in Rome!
