“Clean, comfortable, great location”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

Stayed here for three nights after 11 days walking through Tuscany. Even though Rome itself was a bit of a let down, the hotel was clean, very modern, had an excellent bathroom, and was close good restaurants, the trains (directly outside). The breakfasts weren't as great as those in Tuscany. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if I were to return to Rome.

Room Tip: Not sure what was on the backside of the hotel, but the front faces a busy street and railway that s...

Stayed several nights at this Garden Inn, which a modern structure and has clean well-apportioned rooms. Some informational bits for other travelers. The hotel in not in the city center but in a pleasant neighborhood full of shops and restaurents. The # 3 and 19 trams stop almost in front from both directions. The 19 tram is a good way to get to old city center (takes about 10 minutes) - but be sure to get off at the stop nr to the Piazza del Popolo (Minestero Marina), otherwise you'll end up going over the river and into the Vatican area. Walking from this stop into the oid city (where you can also find the Flaminio Red Line Metro stop) is easy. The hotel sells single tickets, but go around the corner to the T shop and buy a 6 Euro/day ticket -- which is a better bargain. There is a goodly sized market next to the tram stop (go down the escalator to it). The hotel breakfasts are a buffet variety and can be mixed (my first day it seemed as if locusts had descended and not much was left - the second day it was plentiful and inviting). Don't expect the US cooked to order menu - but there are already cooked items. I has a nice room with a balcony overlooking the back of the hotel and it was very pleasant-- keeping the slider open at night allowed in plenty of fresh air (as the room tended to be quite warm). On the plus side, things that were washed dried almost instantly given the dry heat in the room. WiFi was available and seemed generally to have a good degree of bandwidth (I noted some buffering however). One downside was that I would ensure the balcony slider was locked each day when I went out and then would return to find that the maid left it unlocked. This was troubling as there was easy access to the balcony from the fire escape. One other fact: the room lack a microwave -- as found in HGI's elsewhere; but there was a common one near the registration desk which was available for use. Also, the frig in the room seemed to be turned off and there did not seem to be anyway to turn it on. Overall, I found the staff very friiendly and helpful and easy to elicit information from. Given its location, ambiance, and general Hilton Garden Inn accoutrements, i would recommned this property.

My husband is a Hilton Honors Diamond member, so we always try to stay at a Hilton property. The Hilton Garden Inn Rome was everything we have come to expect. The staff was friendly and helpful, the public spaces were clean and attractive and the room, while not large, was larger than your standard European hotel room. Like most Hilton properties the room was well appointed and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful, with a variety of options. We met friends at the hotel bar several nights and found the prices to be very reasonable. While the tram and bus stops were 2 minutes outside the door, I found both a little difficult unless you only wanted to go to the Vatican or the Coloseum.(You can buy tickets at the front desk.) We ended up going to the Coloseum and walking from there to some of the other sites, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, ect. The walk was not bad, but you do have to cross some large busy streets which can be difficult in Rome. Best advise...cross with a crowd. All in all, I would not count the location as a deterrent, and would stay here again. Do yourself a favor and walk around the corner to the Taverna Rossini...eat pasta. It was some of the best on the trip.

Read previous reviews prior to booking this hotel. Thankful for trip advisor and the useful incite one can get for staying at hotels all over the world with the various reviews. Everything we experienced was what was posted by many previous guests. Helpful staff. Nice rooms with comfortable bed and bath. Close to city but not in the heart of the congestion. Short bus ride to major attractions or nice long walk. Nice supermarket across the street. Good restaurants except for one that was directly across the street where the staff has an attitude problem and poor service. Other ones locally were very good.

We booked a 3-day pre-cruise stay at this hotel, and were very pleased with the accomodations. The rooms were very nice, the breakfast (which was included in our package) was plentiful and delicious. The staff was very helpful, they gave us directions to the major attractions which were easy to get to by using the tram or bus that had a stop right in front of the hotel. I would definitely recommend it!!

We booked a package deal for a cruise, with the first night being at this hotel.

Lovely clean hotel, big room and huge bed.

We had a problem with the bathroom drainage - it's a wet room and the bath water when draining started to come out of the drain.

No sooner had we reported it and someone was on the way to the room and an offer of alternate room was immediately made. Were we staying for a few nights we would have taken them up on the offer. However, we were just about to bed down for the single night so just let them mop up the excess and turned out the light.

There was a bit of traffic noise, despite being on the side away from the main road, with double glazed windows, but we were not that bothered by it.

Head out the main doors and turn right to find a terrific restaurant, if you don't want pavement dining with the smokers (we did not) there's a ramp to the main basement dining room - full of locals (always a good sign).

The hotel breakfast had a wide range of tasty options.

We had a few hours to kill before the cruise departure, so were able to take a walk from the hotel, through the nearby park Villa Borghese, where we found a great view over the city of Rome and a further stroll along to the Spanish Steps.

I can't comment on value for money as I don't know what the separate cost of the hotel was, coming as it did packaged with the rest of the holiday. But I'd happily stay there again.

Very nice hotel! The rooms are nice, super clean and big bathrooms. Had dinner there 4 nights and the food was extremely good. The breakfast is also amazing, rich and varied, with a waffle maker as well and fresh made omelette.
The icing of the cake is the staff, though! Waiters, porters and members at the front desk (especially Enzo :-) ) are really kind, helpful and always with a big smile on their faces!!! Loved the hotel!! Thank you for a nice stay!!
