“Not a four-star hotel”

Great location, very convenient to move around the city.I was expecting much more though and I was quite dissapointed especially when I entered the room!Very old-fashioned furniture it surely needs replacement or at least rennovation! Not very clean and the room we stayed in smelt weirdly. We never found the bar open and apart from Marcello and another, bald receptionist whose name I can't recall, the staff was quite rude and unwilling to help.I wouldn't stay there if I were to visit Rome again!

What a lovely comfortable hotel 5 mins from Via Veneto and 8 mins from Barnarini... 5 mins to metro so handy for sightseeing and eating out. Room very comfortable with large en suite shower room. Breakfast served on the top floor, plenty of choice and adequate for the start of the busy days. View from breakfast room was magnificent. This hotel was excellent value for money.

Eliseo it's a classic, thats for sure. Classic it's the word describing the best this hotel, the architecture and style is truly beautiful and you can feel the classicism through your entire experience. But being a 4 star hotel i was expecting to be more clean, better toiletries and at least a decent breakfast. That was not the case.In all a good experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and check the view from the 6th floor - where the breakfast is served.

Not the largest of rooms in some cases but very clean, helpful and friendly staff. A superb location, easy walking to the Spanish steps and beyond, plenty of good restaurants nearby and good transport links.
The view from the breakfast room was excellent.
I would definitely recommend a stay here. The only downside was the bar closed at 9pm which seemed a little bizarre !

I enjoyed this hotel, much better than others in Venice and Florence which I had stayed in on this holiday. Really good standard and my room had excellent furnishings, and the bathroom had top quality fittings and tiling. The road is a bit noisy but the double glazing and inner metal shutter stopped any noise coming in and the aircon was quiet. Good breakfast in the top floor room with a wide range of food including fresh fruit. Also good view over the scenery. Judging by other reviews the rooms must vary in standard and the stages of renovation but mine was great. I think my room was 202 or 201. The two lifts are small which is typical of older buildings where a lift has to be squeezed in but there is certainly room for two plus suitcases.
The front of the hotel overlooks the old city wall and the Villa Borghese gardens (need to pre-book online for a visit there) and is not far from the Spanish Steps although it is uphill on the return after a tiring day out. Fairly affluent area around so the restaurants are generally good but expensive. Electric bus 116 starts from opposite the hotel and goes to many of the tourist sights in central Rome including Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. Also a taxi rank just up the road.

Room Tip: Check you room first if possible as the quality seems to vary.

Our room was a typical European hotel room, small and hot. However, the bathroom was updated and lovely, the breakfast room had a marvellous view over the Villa Borghese gardens, and the buffet breakfast was huge and had a good variety of foods. The service was great - the people behind the desk were knowledgeable and helpful, made dinner reservations for us one night and spent lots of time showing us around with a map. The hotel is quite centrally located about 5 minutes from the Spanish Steps and 10 minutes from the Trevi Fountain. It was also very near to a subway stop. I would stay here again.

The hotel is triangular in shape and room 207 is at the apex of the triangle. A large (queen-size) bed takes up most of the bedroom space, and is hard against one wall. A gap of around 18 inches is left between the corner of the bed and the long dressing table/vanity unit, not easily negotiated.

The wardrobe is a small closet off the room, with three hanging rails and a small chest of drawers, but absolutely no lighting. The room lighting scarcely penetrates the gloom of this space.

A kettle and the makings are provided, but to utilise the electricity supply one is forced to move
the large vanity/dressing unit (into which is built the mini-bar) to gain access to the plug, thus blocking both the closet and room doors. Then, of course, the kettle lead is not long enough, so must be boiled on the floor. Not conducive to an early morning cuppa.

This room is certainly not the four-star standard claimed it is claimed to be by the hotel.

The shower room is reasonably well-appointed and stocked, with shower, bidet, toilet and
a large wash basin. The servicing of both the room and the shower room was very good.

The hotel's pride and joy is the 6th (top) floor breakfast room, where friendly staff top you up with coffee/tea whilst you top yourself up from a laden breakfast buffet which includes hot food.

Reception is manned by friendly, experienced multi-lingual concierges who are more than capable of providing whatever services are required, but the bar is poorly stocked.

In general, the hotel is of a good 3+star standard, but Room 207 is to be avoided at all costs.
