Eliseo hotel was our choise for our 4days staying in Rome.
I was next to Via Veneto and to Villa Borgese. The area was nice and quite, next to city centre, a few minutes away from the Spanish steps.
The true dissapointment was the hotel itself.....Its not a 4star as it claims now, but it used to be 20 years ago..... It needs emmediate renovation !!!
The beds, the pillows and the blunkets are the worst things in this place.
The breakfast was poor, but I admit, that the breakfast area was full of light and had an incredible view !!! It was the only thing besides the position worth paying for......

I was scared a little with negative reviews but had no choice – it’s not easy to find a hotel in 10 days before New Year, so I was very lucky to book Eliseo for 6 nights.
The hotel is much better than I expected. Yes, it’s not 4 stars for sure, I would rate it 3+.
Room is small but enough for one person, bed was comfortable. Furniture is a little older than it should be. Air-conditioning is not perfect and temperature is set by hotel – I just switched it off, but for summer it can be a problem. There is a kettle and complimentary coffee and tea in room, it was helpful, but it was difficult to find a working socket to use it.
Ones I had to complain about ants in room and they disappeared immediately.
Breakfast was nice – cheese, meat, tomatoes, mozzarella, cereal, juice, fruits, yogurt, eggs, coffee, cappuccino, bread, croissants and even Christmas cake. The view from breakfast room is unbelievable.
Location is good – 7 minutes to Spanish stairs, 15 minutes to Trevi, 15 min to Villa Borgese gallery. May be the location is not so central, but it’s very nice to live in the big city close to everything and at the same time almost in the park among the trees.
A big supermarket is underground on the corner with Via Venetto. Good restaurants and shops are just around the corner on Via Venetto if you are not in the mood to go far away.
The Staff was very helpful. I could get free early check in and late check out.

I understand that the hotel has minuses but I felt relaxed and comfortable there and will be glad to be back.

For sure I would recommend the single room in the hotel for winter time.

We spent Christmas 2012 in Rome, it was wonderful.
We stayed at the Eliseo and were given a map showing the main points of interest.
My initial reaction was to find the nearest bus stop but the scale of the map was such that it turned out that we could walk everywhere, the car went into the car park and stayed there for the duration. So the hotel location turned out to be absolutely perfect.
Our room was spacious, clean and perfectly adequate and excellent value for money. The breakfast room, on top of the building was a surprise and we could see right across to the vatican. Breakfast itself was fine.
So all in all the Eliseo was a very good choice for us and we would certainly stay there again.

The hotel is situated just south of porta pinciana inside the old city walls in an imposing position with spectacular views of the old city. The breakfast room on the top floor is the confirmation of this strategic location which offers a romantic view of rome, where the beautiful baroque domes combine with the beautiful crowns of the Mediterranean pines to offer a memorable site.
Our bathroom was recently re-fitted but the rooms do need also some kind of re-furbishment as they do look a bit dark. Air conditioning unit is a pain and you have to ask reception to grasp how it works.
Breakfast is OK nothing spectacular in terms of content, but the breakfast room's view does make up for the lack of content with the breathtaking view.
Staff are just OK, courteous and friendly enough. the hotel is great value for the money although for me is more a 3+ rather than a 4 star.

The good things are the view from the breakfast room, the wifi, and the number 116 electric bus which takes you into town, and all kinds of places you'll never get to otherwise! The bad things..the coffee is undrinkable, the rooms weren't cleaned properly, coffee and tea in the room weren't replenished, no food other than breakfast. The reception staff were very helpful, but that's about it. The breakfast staff were slow, and if you get there towards the end, there might not be enough food.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor looking over to Villa Borghese have a small balcony.

The best of this hotel is the location and the view from the breakfast room. Everything else is really bad!
The breakfast: the bread was from the day before and there were no toaster, there were no eggs or fresh fruit...
The room: is small, stuffy, the bed is awful (I had to take painkillers everyday) and has no cleaning (I left some crumbs on the floor, on purpose, and they remained there for the rest of our stay)
The staff: is not nice nor helpful.

Location is quite convenient, 7-8 minutes walk to the Piazza di Spagna,15 minutes walk to the Fontana di Trevi, and the underground station is very close to the hotel. Rooms are small and need to be refurbished. The closet was full with mold and accordingly with an unbearable smell, the chest of drawers was completely broken, so we had to ask for room change. We got quite quickly another room which was somewhat better.
Breakfast was very good and is accompanied by beautiful views seen from the restaurant which is located on the 6th floor.
No room service available.
