The only outstanding feature of this hotel is it's location. It is very central with easy walking to most attractions. Staff were friendly enough and breakfast was very good, but regrettably we had many unnecessary issues.

We have stayed in several hotels in Europe during our 6 week business and pleasure trip, this hotel was our last, the most expensive, and the most disappointing.

We stayed in a King Suite for EUR 524.00 per night, so our expectations were high. The suite turned out to be 1 room with a small entrance where a couch and table had been placed, not a EUR 524.00 suite.

It was spring, but the room was like a sauna, we turned off the heating in the room, but the room continued to become hot. Opening the window to sleep was not an option due to outside noise, We told management about the issue and they suggested we turn on a separate air conditioner to cool the room, so the room is somehow being heated and the air conditioning was barely able to neutralize this, we did not sleep well.

The internet was a nightmare, yes it was free. My wife and I had several devices, 2 x iphones, 2 x ipads and a laptop. We were give different login codes for each device, but once connected within 5-10 minutes you would be logged out and have to log in again.

Needing good internet access was important for us to be able to communicate with our overseas office. We complained to management, they blamed Apple devices, not their system.

I have had Apple devices for many many years and NEVER had this problem before. I did not appreciate being brushed off by blaming Apple!! It's quite a cheek to do this with no concern for our problem. Had I have know this, we would never had stayed there.

My pet hate is a shower over the bath, and yes we had a shower over a small bath with a high lip, which nearly caused you to slip when getting out.

We found the attached image on their web site and for a King Suite at EUR 524.00 / per night it is not unreasonable to assume that this is what we would get a standard shower. What's crazey, is that there was so much wasted room, 2 toilets and bidets (can't understand the need for 2 toilets in a 1 bedroom), if they redesigned this, it would be simple to have a separate shower.

Finally, there was no conditioner in the bathrooms only shampoo, this is the first hotel ever that I have stayed in that cannot supply shampoo, we asked reception and were told we could by some at nearby shops.

Not a great 3 days at the Barocco, there is far better value and service elsewhere.

The Hotel Barocco is located right on Piazza Barberini, a lovely square with a beautiful fountain and a Metro Station. The hotel is marvelously convenient for public transportation, tourist attractions, eateries, and shops. It is easy walking distance to the Via Veneto, the Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain. While it sounds like it might be too busy of a location, it really isn’t since it is located on a little side street (Via della Purificazione) that removes you from the main hustle and bustle of the square. The staff were very welcoming and helpful with restaurant reservations and information, and even graciously came to our room late in the evening when we had inadvertently blown the fuse for the room and were in the dark (don’t mess with any switches that don’t look quite like switches!). The lobby is very small, and the bar is small but intimate.

Our room #62 was a superior located just off the tiny elevator. We could see a sliver of the Barberini Fountain and across the tiny Via della Purificazione. The room was a bit small, which is to be expected by European standards. The key fob is huge so expect to leave it at the desk whenever you leave. We had a very comfy king bed, AC (but only the heating worked in April, which was true of every place we stayed), a small desk, a small safe, and a basket of fruit. The lighting in the room was a bit too dark, but the room was amazingly quiet and a welcome retreat. We had a corner room with 3 windows, which helped with the lighting during the day, but the curtains were a bit strange. The bath was modern and clean with just a shower (beware the cold water from the rain shower head – there was a trick to getting the water on first and heated through the hand-held before the rain shower). Heated towel rack seemed to work only at night, but was a nice addition. Robe/slippers, good toiletries, but note that many hotels in Italy do not give you hair conditioner and some no lotion (bring your own!). Small closet and skinny shelves for storage. WiFi was available (all of Rome’s connections are notoriously slow), but was a bit irritating since you had to log in with the password (a different one for each device you use – don’t lose your codes!) whenever your device turned off. If you have to be constantly wired up, it could be a real nuisance, but we could live with the slight inconvenience, given the other pluses of the hotel.

Breakfast was included in our rate and served from 7:00-10 or so. That early start is very helpful when you have tours that start early – a good breakfast before a long tour gets you through without fading. One morning we were able to be out by 7:30 by just skipping the hot food that could be ordered. There was a buffet with pastries, croissants (including some excellent chocolate ones!), cold cuts, crusty bread, cheese of various types, fruit, yogurt, juices, tea/coffee, cappuccino/espresso. You could also order hot food, and we had large and good cheese/ham omelettes that arrived quite quickly. There is only room for a few tables around the relatively small area of the buffet, but there are other rooms adjacent where you could sit just as comfortably (and maybe more quietly) and then just visit the buffet as needed.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Barocco and would definitely make it our home base again when returning to Rome.

Barocco Hotel was fantastic from the moment we arrived (well before check in). The staff was very friendly and helpful- giving directions, making suggestions for dinner and arranging transportation. The location is wonderful, right across the square from the metro and an easy walk to many attractions. We caught the metro for the Vatican and the Colisseum, but everything else we walked to. Lots of nice (not touristy) restaurants nearby as well. Oh, and the breakfast is amazing! Fantastic selection with a few different things each morning. I would definitely go back again.

We stayed over Easter weekend. We reserved a junior suite as we were traveling with our daughters. Nice, clean, comfortable. Rooms are small but you should expect smaller rooms. Staff was very friendly, accommodating and spoke English! Walking distance to many restaurants, cabs right out front, very convenient. Breakfast was nice. Would return. We definately recommend Barocco Hotel.

I cannot say enough about this hotel! It exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff was the most caring, attentive group of people. The breakfast was beyond compare, be sure to order a cappacino and Italian omelet. Ask the staff for restaurant recommendations, they really know the area and where you will have the best service and food at the best price. I adored this hotel and so did my husband and two teenaged kids!

We cannot say enough good things about the Hotel Barocco. The staff was wonderful!! The front desk was incredibly helpful -- directions, recommendations, car service, etc. The breakfast staff was very courteous and kind. Breakfast was delicious by the way. I think anything you may want -- eggs, pastries, fruit, meats, cheese, cereals, juice, coffee. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and always clean. The bed was very comfortable. We had a terrace that was very charming. I enjoyed sitting out there after a day of activities, relaxing before dinner. Free wi-fi with excellent connection was key to us as we left our little one behind at home for the first time. And location, location, location! Just again, cannot say enough good things about Hotel Barocco. We hope to return one day. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: We had a junior suite. It was lovely.
