“Lovely, efficient hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

Stayed 1 night in this lovely hotel. The room was small, but well appointed in every way. The bed was comfortable, with fresh, inviting linens. The bathroom was spotless, very nice shower with body sprays and good water pressure. There were 2 closets, a safe, mini bar and pull out laptop station. Free WiFi was a bonus. Reading lights on each side of the bed and a TV. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel staff made this trip a total pleasure. From the first class appointments in a classic boutique small hotel to the breakfast buffet as well all the employees making sure our stay was very comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with an outdoor space. Not a balcony but a small patio with plants and table and um...

Location, location, location. This boutique 4 star hotel on Piazza Barberini is just a 5 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and the Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps). 15 minute walk to The Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Close to great shops and restaurants. The hotel staff are very attentive and the breakfast is included...what a feast! The rooms are small, but comfortable.

Small and perfectly formed? Arguably. Barocco has some lovely features and, in many cases, demonstrates outstanding attention to detail. The breakfast is a feast, including excellent baked goods and high-quality local meats as well as the staples of chopped fruit, eggs cooked to order etc. But our overall view was that the hotel is a triumph of style over substance. Our "superior double room” was barely large enough to accommodate a desk and chair (which it had) let alone a seating area (which it didn’t). And the hotel has very limited facilities considering its four-star status and high tariffs. The compact and bijou theme obviously works for many people but it didn’t work for us.

Dear Guest,

I would like to better interpret what you have written. From your point of view you believe:

1. the services rendered by the hotel are excellent, such as the breakfast and the care for detail
2. the room which was assigned to you was too small

From the above information it would seem that you give more weight to the size of the room than to the quality of service. If I have understood your expectations correctly, then I will agree with you that your choice of coming to our hotel was incorrect. When size is the first priority then it is always better to rely on the international chain hotels.

Albeit, these types of hotels are not located in the heart of Rome, where due to the antiquity of the buildings all the hotels tend to have smaller rooms and common areas.

Therefore also the choice of staying in the city centre of Rome was perhaps not well pondered.

I am grateful, however, for your review as I believe that guest expectations should be realistic when booking in the city centre and for this reason use every tool available to be able to describe the sizes of our various room categories (facebook, tripadvisor, website) so that travellers can make an informed choice when booking our hotel.

Best regards.

We spent four nights at this excellent boutique hotel, located on a very quiet side street just a few strides from busy Piazza Barberini, Fontana del Tritone (closed for repair at this time) and the Via Veneto. Our room was small, but elegant, with an excellent shower. Nice breakfast, with quick service. From the Barocco it is only minutes to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Borghese Gardens. If you need a taxi, there is a taxi stand in Piazza Barberini. Every room key is attached to a heavy, tasseled pendant. You won't want to carry it with you. Just turn it in at the desk when you go and ask for it when you come back. Che elegante!

During our summer trip to Italy, we had the chance to stop in Rome for a few days to visit some of the historical sites. Hotel Barocco's location was excellent. In the heart of Rome within a 15 minute walk to the Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. We are a family with 2 small children. We stayed in a suite with one large bed and sofa bed in the sitting room which was the perfect set-up. The service at the front desk was personal and friendly. The breakfast buffet was very good and our children enjoyed it too. We will definitely stay at the Barocco during our next "Roman Holiday"!

Nice hotel in a very convenient location.
The staff at the front desk were very polite, professional and friendly.
We stayed in the suite with the private pool - well, it's not really a private 'pool' but a massively oversized bath tub in the terrace. Our 2.5 year old enjoyed it the most :)
Breakfast was good - they are fairly particular about the timings though and we got told off by one of the serving staff :) - although in a very professional way when I asked for another helping of eggs just after the closing time.
Unfortunately, the piazza opposite the hotel was undergoing renovation so there wasn't much to see.
Overall, we had a great taste of traditional Italian hospitality at the Barocco.
